The point of mark beaks is that he’s a modern rich person. Scrooge is suppose to be the right way to make your Riches, glomgold is the corrupt way to make your riches and mark beaks a the lazy way to make money. He’s a modern interpretation to go against Scrooge in terms of how to make money
I haven't seen any of this show past season 1, but I do know Scrooge's backstory from the comics, and I'm wondering if this show includes Scrooge's big mistake/moment of personal shame. I don't really want to say what it is, in case they do... I just wonder.
@@travishimebaugh8381 Yes and no; they don't include the swindling, but they *do* include the more... not PC character, just in a way that has it going after Scrooge and without its unkind design.
I'm pretty sure the showrunners said they made Mark to be a billionaire that younger viewers would understand, the tech entrepreneur futuristic. Also I love his scheme because so many real companies have done it.
@@the-NightStar I wouldn't say I like I just think that as a very realistic sort of billionaire, as opposed to Scrooge and Glomgold who's companies I have no clear idea on what they do, his scheme was very realistic it's just a Ponzi scheme after all.
I’d like to introduce you to Mark Beaks! He’s a new character brought into Ducktales to be update-to-date with the modern reboot/era and he’s a parody of Mark Zuckerberg (and millennials). He’s also made to be a “villain” as you might recognize from the opening theme song. He’s my fav!
Be honest, We all prefer Glomgold over Beaks. I’m not saying Beaks is a bad character but he’s definitely the Kevin of the Ducktales show where Glom is the Jasper
I don't know... Jasper doesn't even know a shark guy, while Glomgold knows a great one. Galaxy Brain: Jasper doesn't need a shark guy, she is the shark. Me: Can't argue with that.
Fun fact! Mark Beaks is not only the CEO of Waddle, he's also the CEO of being the actual worst! Man is he a good villain though, especially when he crosses over into legit supervillain territory. And I see that Hamilton poster up there! You may just hear a very familiar voice a little later this season 😉
Thank you for your reaction Zamber! I especially liked your analysis of the billionaire characters and what type of ethics they practice in their work fields. I enjoyed your thoughts on the matter. :) And regarding Zuckerbird being a potential villain, he does appear in the opening intro alongside Glomgold and Ma Beagle. Make that what you will of it.
First thing I wanted to say. I find Beaks to be ridiculously annyoing which is why it's so frustrating that this plan was actually clever in a way. Secondly, I believe the Ducktales universe is a different chain of evolution. It's the main reason why you have the intelligent birds living in houses and wild ones flying in the air.
2:58 He may arguably be the most unliked character in the entire series to date, but he was ahead of the game here...in the most pathetically needy and useless way imaginable.
Fun Fact: Frank Agones (who works on Ducktales) almost named Mark Beaks “*Mark Zuckerbird*”, but was advised not to do that for legal reasons. Tah dah, we got the parrot jerk who is a foil to Scrooge's whole working for what he has thing.
He might have been hired to find the flaws in a security system for some other companies in the past. Hiring someone to steal your own project is often a means of finding security weaknesses. Hiring someone to steal a nonexistent project is indeed the weird part here.
@@taliaaytch4753 Where did you hear that? I read a tweet from one of the people of the show who said his name was gonna be Mark Zuckerbird but they had to change it for legal reasons
Killer Nyan Cat I read it on TVTropes. Another reason why they didn’t go for it was because it would be weird for a parrot to have Duckerburg as a last name.
Aww man, I feel bad for not watching these reactions of yours on top. Now I won't be able to comment on them as you're figuring stuff out. Edit: Not sure if this was brought up by someone else, but Mark Beaks was originally going to be known as either Mark Zuckerbeak or Mark Duckerberg, but Disney felt that was a LITTLE too on-the-nose. I kind of like this name better, it's like a combination of Mark Zuckerberg and Bill Gates/Steve Jobs. Edit2: "Remember, you're replaceable!" That got a little too real. Edit3: I believe the idea is that they're humans with bird-like features as opposed to actual birds, at least I think that was the logic of the original Carl Barks comics, among the other Donald Duck-related media.
Scrooge and Glomgold are enemies. Glomgold always wants to be the richest duck in the world. They were enemies in the original series as well. I'm currently watching the original DuckTales.
I personally find Beaks hilarious. It helped that, unlike Glomgold, who is as much of a serious, dangerous and completly ruthless villain in the comics as he is a dim-witted, comedic relief villain who overthinks all his schemes in this show, there's no comic counterpart for Beaks for me to compare to. Though to be fair, like many others, I also prefer Glomgold as a villain, even if he stands in the shadow of comic Glomgold who is one of my favorite enemies of Scrooge. Basically, Mark Beaks is the “uggh, not this guy again 😩” type of villain, even for the other villains in the show itself 😅🤷♂️.
I just can't help but him adorable. His design is cute, and he is such a failure.

Yup. Even the Ducktales crew don't like him XD

Scrooge had a handful of rivals. In the comics, but would be considered outdated today. I think that’s why Mark was created.
