At 3:17 "make sure the aircraft has been turned off"? I noticed that yours is running? Or does turned OFF reference propellers turning? you'll have to excuse the quesiton.. I'm new to all of this.. thanks!
+Frederick Dunn It's making sure aircraft has been turned off for at least five minutes prior to calibrating. That's due to the thermals of the Phantom 3. It want it to be cool, prior to calibration. Make sense? =)
Yep couldn't get my new P3 to work at all - just kept buzzing at me - until I saw this video, calibrated both the IMU and Gimbal and hey presto! she's a goer. My angry demenour vanished as soon as I got her in the air and realised just how well controlled and easy to fly it really is - many thanks for the vid. : )
+jason hall Thanks for the kind feedback and happy that I was able to help! Please check out my 400orBelow website too if you have not done so already. I have an abundance of DJI Phantom tutorial content there too!
I did this same thing but I did it when the Phantom was cool. I set it out in my breezeway overnight so it would get cool. I did the IMU calibration as soon as I got up in the morning. I've read that you can also cool it down in your car with the A/C blowing on it. This way it is suppose to reduce the Phantom warm up time as well as calibrate the IMU.
Just came over from the 700 size electric and nitro helicopters. I needed a change. I just bought a used phantom 3 last night and this video really helps me fix a imu error. Thanks and I subscribed
+Thompson Smith My pleasure and please feel free to check out my 400orBelow website too. I have TONS of drone tutorial content there now and lots more coming soon.
Perfect video. Thanks. You mentioned your quad didn't function so good after a particular firmware update. Is it necessary to update at all ? I haven't got my phantom. I only ordered it yesterday but I like to have some kind of a handle on things before it gets here
+Bill Collie Some firmware updates are better than others. Most make things better but there have been exceptions in the past. Check out my 400orBelow website if you haven't. I have a lot of DJI Phantom blog posts there! #DJIPhantom
I've watched many of your videos and found them very informative. I have a P3 Standard and just got the Pro this week. On my Pro's status screen, the indicator for "radio quality" keeps changing from good to poor constantly, however, overall status is "safe to fly GPS!" Is this something I should be concerned about or is this typical of transmission signal kicking in & out? BTW, I love your channel and all of your toys! Great job bro. DJ SOUL FORCE
+DJ SOUL FORCE Also, I might add, I'm getting this warning while being right next to the quad! Thanks for your help. Good luck with the P4 and that Karma!!! (can't wait to see the Karma - but on the other hand, I don't think it will be that big of a success. Phantoms rock!!!)
Yes sir, you do have an abundance of information on your website, but I couldn't find the answer to my question. Could you kindly give the me the short "yes or no" is this typical behavior to have signal quality alert to keep changing from "good" to "poor?" Love the website, it's like a DJI library!!! Lol Thanks
Thank you, you saved me tons of time...i bought a new P3 and did the firmware update. Afterwards all the calibration was screwed up, thanks to your video i was able to get it working and did my first flight in the dark lol
Thanks you, this is a great video , this video helped me a lot and resolve a mystery . I have my drone 3 Standard for a week already and every time I am going to use it this IMU calibration error shows up . Thanks for this video

You can always tell some is not an RC guy when the turn on the device first. I'm into RC since fm days, you had to turn the transmitter in first. Golden rule.
hi very helpful video, have just one question. is it possible a bad imu calibration compromise gimbal stabilization, making in this way shootings unusable ? i'm talking about the shaki problem of the gimbal during flight
Great Videos! i have a quick question. my phantom 3 pro will not fly straight. Every time i try to fly it in a straight line it drifts to the right. i have not crashed it or anything. I was wondering if the IMU calibration would fix this problem or if you know of anything that could. Thanks!
Thank you for the kind feedback. Check out my 400orBelow website blog and check out the IMU calibration and compass calibration videos. best of luck! #DJIPhantom
Looks like they moved the "SENSORS" menu item to be under the "ADVANCED" menu item on that screen (advanced is now the last menu item on that screen). So now you click Advanced, then Sensors. There's also no text to tell you it is done now.. just shows "10%" on the progress bar.
Nice video! I'm thinking Of getting the professional version, but its a bit on the pricey side for me. I live in europe, and here we have the so called CE mode. Do you know anything about this? I'm wondering if it's worth it, because apparently it limits the range to about 1km? What are your thoughts on this?
Yep..just followed this for my first IMU calibration. Just updated firmware and did IMU and gimbal. Will head out shortly for a test flight. Thumbs up. PS. Love you channel
I've calibrated with stock filter, ND filter, CPL filter, etc. Usually when I change filters I perform a calibration in case that they may be weighted slightly differently.
so i crashed only thing that broke was the props and ive calibrated like 3xs now amd still says "compass error" and then flashes "safe to fly non gps" in tan any ideas whats wrong or im doing wrong? or any suggestions? just subbed thanks for aharing this
Aussie Bloke yes like 5 xs since then I have crashed it because it said gimbal motor overload if you go on my TH-cam channel- "Joe basement woodworking" there's a video called Phantom Menace that i did for "may the 4th be with you"day and it shows my drone crashing from 170 feet altitude it's a gimbal motor overload you can see the propellers in the video just stopped spinning and it just crashes now it's being sent back to DJI hopefully to be fixed or replaced but thanks for the suggestion

Mine says i dont have to calibrate the imu whenever i click on the check imu? Do i still have to calibrate it?
I always calibrate when I move geographical flying locations out of best practice.
Will it fix the driting problem of my drone? Because it always drift backward with the gps of 14 sat
Possibly. Check out my website because I have several videos that may contain useful troubleshooting clues.
i tried the remote calibration and the drift is gone

man do you face any issues when you install your props guard clips.
as when i install mine i felt like its not 100% stable like before..???? little bit of shaking ..\???

jack humble Latest firmware and latest app version?
Doesn't work for me, when I click calibrate, the 0-100% bar stays at 0% the entire find. I put it on level ground, idk what to do!
Strange. Is there interference in the place where you are trying to calibrate possibly?
What's the best thing to use on the Phantom 3 standard to help prevent the cracking around the motors?
