Love your tutorials. It would be great to see a short video of all the main dance genres, focusing on arrangment (16bars-into, 8 bars build, 8 bars break) etc etc. I'm kinda stuck making loops right now :(
Man I've been searching everywhere to figure out how these house producers make their bass so thicc and bouncy. Never would of thought to use toms haha.
sounds great dude!! i was looking for some good tutorials but i think you just hit in the right place, going to try your structure and see what happens thanks!
This is the exact video title I was looking for. I was gonna search for something like this but wouldnt think something so on point would show up! Glad I found it. Havent watched the video yet, but im sure it is great.
Dude thank you for that tutorial. That gave me a good start on how to make these kinds of tracks. Have you heard of Frits Wentick? He's my inspiration right now.
Could you explain how you did the snares? I really love the pause you made and the faster buildup, but I'm not sure how to do it on my own. You sped through that part of the video. Thanks! fantastic video for a genre I truly enjoy
interesting video and very much to the point. i recently found my old tascam 4-track portatrack in the cellar. this one should work for adding crunch and texture. must find a way to integrate ist in my bedroom hardware setup. thanks for the inspiration.
I’ve only just discovered your videos but this one really made me hit the sub button. Really like your approach and explanation of genre structures. Great job man. Your videos inspire me to try something new. Thanks. 🙏
Really liking this tutorial. Thanks man! It would be helpful if you compare things before and after instead of just showing us the end result. Like the clap placement shifted a bit :D
This was excellent. Followed right through and it's put me on my way to making my own tracks. I like these tutorials that follow a kind of 'assumed knowledge' - it goes at my kinda pace without going right down to the tiniest details, for those of us who kinda know our way round ableton a little bit! Would you ever consider doing one of these for sort of like raw tech house? Example being Pawsa. Michael BiBi, that kinda stuff? Thanks! Subscribed.
Quick little comment about the use of verb on this track, 99/100 times you'll want to throw your verb on an aux send. It allows more control of the verb in the mix and if you have multiple elements being verbed it keeps the sense of space cohesive. There's more to it but a youtube comment isn't the proper place for it. Good on you for passing on the knowledge you have though.
Cool stuff, thanks ! Interesting right off the bat with the markers included in a template but I noticed something though, it's written "8 bars" on the intro but the next marker is 16 bars later :D
you should put a link or something to just the basics of the tutorial cause its near impossible for me to follow as i have never used any sort of music program before
Hey dude, I think there are a lot of channels out there that grapple with the basics of DAWs (digital audio workstation). There are even free internet courses with lectures! Just fyi :)
so, recapping: 1. sample cheesy piano from a bad 90's show, add "a bit warmer" preset 2. 909 kick, add "a bit warmer" preset 3. hi hats outta place just a little bit, add "a bit warmer" preset 4. add "a bit warmer" preset on the master. nah seriously, only mocking, thanks tho.
its absurd but i save and store 99% more material than what i use regarding samples. Very few tracks i've actually been sample heavy. And mostly its just drum kit elements, then altered blablabla. Keys i rather do it myself with synths or midi, and only recently after learning some scales and melody etc I'm getting the hang of it and being able what i want, not needing to seek or follow a sample. Sampling is nice tho cos it gives the track direction regarding ideas, you basically build around that.
it depends on the media, say you sample it with a record player if you have the vinyl record. If working digitally, say you'll probably find the song on youtube or other source, you download it and crop the part you want with a software (i recommend your DAW of choice or audacity, its freeware). You can then do loads of things like cut or enhance frequencies, fx, saturation, etc like it was done in this case.
How to make lo fi house
Step 1: make a nice house track
Step 2: make it sound like it was made on a calculator

This was excellent. Followed right through and it's put me on my way to making my own tracks. Is the intro now 8 or 16 bars?@@JulienEarle
What is happening around 5:37? Lost at the kick part, not sure how to get the kick onto the actual display and extend it.
you should put a link or something to just the basics of the tutorial cause its near impossible for me to follow as i have never used any sort of music program before
kcincoffey true, will do!
Hey dude, I think there are a lot of channels out there that grapple with the basics of DAWs (digital audio workstation). There are even free internet courses with lectures! Just fyi :)

Thanks a bunch mate :)
Thank you for watching!

space kern how do you sample tho

space kern I mean how do you actual extract a sample, for example the sample in this is from rick Ashley...how did he take that from the actual song?
it depends on the media, say you sample it with a record player if you have the vinyl record. You forgot the “upload directly to soundcloud” step
