I don't know if it's been mentioned, but for the pool noodle bit, you could use 11/2" or many 2" foam pipe insulation. Pretty much the same thing, but thinner and already black. It would make it even more accurate as I believe that's what they used on the OG props. Or at least, that's how it looks. I definitely saved this for later as I hope to get a pack this fall or winter and I totally want to do an Alice Frame mod. Great stuff!
Man, buddy, an awesome and creative tutorial, and affordable mods for a somewhat and highly priced GB Life Proton Pack. Thank you, and be safe out there. HOOOAAAH!!! Live, Long, and Prosper 🫡🤜🤛👍🖖
very similar to how I did mine. My bolts go the other way, with a nice black panhead showing on the outside. One thing I didn't pay attention to is: the left side is thinner where it's supposed to be bare motherboard, and my bolts were too far to the outside, not leaving me enough room for the hardware in that area. Great mod video!
This pack is about to arrive, and the Alice frame is on the way! Is the motherboard that comes with the pack pretty strong? I see some people saying to get a stronger one. I'll be following your videos, they have been the most detailed! This video and the Spengler wand attaching video are both exactly what I was looking for! Thanks and keep up the great videos!
I actually did this right before this video dropped, did mine almost the same way I did drill a 2x4 right down the middle of the motherboard on the interior just to stabilize it a bit
I plan to do this with the 2x4. Did you screw the mounting bolt with the spacer into the 2x4? The top one in the middle? How did you handle that. I have the bolt/spacer/nut/washers. Do I get a longer bolt and put it through the 2x4?
the screws you put through the side into the L brackets, did you put the washer on the outside of the proton pack or on the inside just before the lock nut? I couldn't tell.
Going to do this, this weekend. I have the alice frame, so I just need the hardware. I understand buying in bulk for maker people, but since this is going to be a one off build for me, I'd rather get just what I need.
Kevin, My pleasure 😊. It was fun and a challenge to figure this one out and hopefully this video will help a lot of other people who want to try the same thing with the ALICE pack. Certainly worth the time.
Got a technical question. On the mounting brackets how exactly did you know how low to put them is there a line or Runner they go against or the pack sits down on?
Hi Mike. I’m looking to purchase one of these proton packs & I need this work done. I’m not too handy nor do I have these tools. Do you offer rehaul services?
I have so many questions! One is how dod you gauge the depth on the L brackets to get them in the right spot? I am not a handyman by any means but I want to do this conversion so bad!
I held the 1" braces with the fasteners flush with the edge the cover rests on and twirled the 1/4" drill in the hold against the side wall to locate the center of the hole, then used the hand drill to make the center starter hole.
Hey! This is wicked! Just bought one and I'm already planning on cutting out the cyclotron and bumper... is there any chance you could measure from the top of the lip of the cyclotron to the bottom/the diameter (from the inside) for me? If the makes sense? I really want to print a new one before haloween and wont have the measurements until hopefully the 28th😬 if not, great video! Thanks!
I did mine in the most bootleg way possible but it luckily is light so it has held up great. I literally superglued the original screws and put them back in to hold the Spirit specific board from GBFans 😂. It's been months and it's just fine! I just wish I reinforced the V hook first cause the Spengler wand is pretty heavy. I'm excited for the new 1984 wand they just released! Maybe it's a hint Hasbro will give us an 80s pack some day. Until then I'm gonna keep loving my modded Spirit more than my Haslab.
Thanks for making this! I followed along & now have a comfy alice frame on the pack. Pretty funny how the frame alone is heavier than the pack itself lol! I did have some weird issues with getting the alignment straight though. I kept going from the workbench to the mirror for like 2-3 hours as I constantly tweaked the mount placements. Ultimately my alice frame is mounted at a slight angle since that’s the only way I could make it appear upright when looking in the mirror. Maybe it’s something to do with the frame being slightly warped or something, I’m really not sure. Did you have any issues with that? Seems like you ended up with a pretty good result in the end!
My frame is pretty straight. I can see how if the frame was warped it would be hard to mount. If you think about it, once the pack is on your shoulders. If its a little out of alignment then its hard to tell either way...
@@MakeItorBreakItNow That’s a good point. Although mine was a good 4-5 degrees out of wack so it was pretty distracting lol. The ion arm side kept drooping down. I do remember seeing some reviews of that frame on amazon remarking how flimsy the frame is for actual backpacking, so I guess it could be that… really hard to tell. But ultimately it looks fine now & those big washers cover up any major widening of the holes I had to do haha.
I just thought I'd point out that you don't need to make any kind of a stand for the proton pack if you've gotten an Alice frame on there if you've installed it correctly the proton Pack will stand freely on its own without any kind of a stand at all just thought I'd share that with you just in case you didn't know or nobody's told you.🚫👻👍✌️
You know, all you need is someone to show you the way when you're not sure where to start. You're tutorial was a big help thank you again
Anytime Marty, stay tune for more mods to this pack, have a whole bunch of new ideas, just need more time in the day to get everything done.
I returned my proton pack because the strap popped off after 10 mins of wearing. Probably going to rebuy now and make this upgrade. Thanks
I know what you mean, check out this video: th-cam.com/video/7NruMN0HfUw/w-d-xo.html
After so many years on this planet I am finally putting together a ghostbuster's costume and your videos are a lifesaver, thank you.
You're welcome. It was fun putting this series together. Stay tuned for more videos coming soon.
Thank you for this. I've been watching this for weeks. Finally tackled it today. Followed it to a T
Glad to hear my video helped you, appreciate your comment, very motivating... Now go out and bust some ghost!

thanks for the suggestion. On some of the packs I seen the foam wrapped in tape so going for that look...
Thanks for all your videos
Just finished the ALICE frame last night
Looks movie quality and is solid!
Thanks so much!
You're welcome. The series was fun to put together. I hope it helps many folks like yourself.

Thanks, this series was a lifelong dream come true, and a lot of fun to put together and share.

Thanks, I'm very happy how this one turned out. And learned a lot for sure.
Yup! One of my straps popped right out as I was adjusting it while wearing it Halloween night. Thanks for the Vid!
No problem 👍Glad you liked it. Thanks for leaving a comment.
stella work man!
I own the haslab and dont need this one, but showing others how to mod this to a more screen accurate pack sure will help other fans!
Thanks. How do you like your haslab pack.
@@MakeItorBreakItNowI love it!
It looks great, feels great to wear and the différent modes are cool!

Steve, you're welcome. I think the motherboard is fine. It's worked out freat for me.
Fantastic!! Thanks a lot for the details!
Thanks, you might want to check out some of my other Ghostbuster build videos, its been fun putting them all together.
I actually did this right before this video dropped, did mine almost the same way I did drill a 2x4 right down the middle of the motherboard on the interior just to stabilize it a bit
That works too. Thanks for suggesting to those who've not made the mod yet.

Thank you for the tutorial! Super easy to follow 🎉 great gear ! Do a show off video in full gear !
Thanks, I posted your requested video last night bring everything together: th-cam.com/video/5Q7WR0RO_iE/w-d-xo.html
Great video!! Makes me excited to update my pack!! 🤜🏻💥🤛🏻🚫👻
It's really worth it. The frame makes a lot a difference in the look and much more comfortable to walk around with.
great video... what proton pack for adults you recommend for a begginer?
This Full Sized Spirit Halloween is a good beginner pack. Reasonably priced and many times you can get them at a deep discount.
the screws you put through the side into the L brackets, did you put the washer on the outside of the proton pack or on the inside just before the lock nut? I couldn't tell.
As a rule I'll put a washer just before a lock nut if enough thread show through on the end...

Understand, appreciate your point of view. I started out that way to, then found the extra parts came in handy for all sorts of projects...
Awesome work. Thankyou very much for this 👍👍
Kevin, My pleasure 😊. It was fun and a challenge to figure this one out and hopefully this video will help a lot of other people who want to try the same thing with the ALICE pack. Certainly worth the time.
Neato! What size ALICE frame did you use to mount the full size replica Spirit Proton Pack to?
Thanks. I think ALICE frames only come is one standard size.
Got a technical question. On the mounting brackets how exactly did you know how low to put them is there a line or Runner they go against or the pack sits down on?
The decision was based on what I saw watching various movie footage and pictures combined with where I thought it would be best structurally...
Thanks for the video.
Have a ballpark estimate of cost in the mod?
I think I mention the cost in the video, once you have the frame ~$70, you probably have another $5-$10 in hardware.
Hi Mike. I’m looking to purchase one of these proton packs & I need this work done. I’m not too handy nor do I have these tools. Do you offer rehaul services?
Unfortunately I'm time constrained. But thanks for the offer.
You make me not sad 😊
Thanks Benjamin, your comment makes me happy.

I keep watching at 5:48, how do you determine the depth of the L bracket? Maybe I missed where the cover rests are@@MakeItorBreakItNow
when are we getting updated guitar stand video? i just ordered a basic Amazon guitar stand.
Glad I could help...
I got my stand at a guitar store for about the same price. The part that holds the neck is adjustable and holds the top of the pack
Sounds like a great setup, thanks for sharing.

Thanks. Sorry I didn't see your comment until today, Halloween. So what did you end up doing?
How long are the spacers you used?
1/4" -20 7/8" couplers (X6): amzn.to/3RP4cnL It's also in the materials list below the video, just click the "more" to see the complete set.
@@MakeItorBreakItNow I made a guess of 1 inch. I got some round non threaded ones from work and my Alice frame looks great on the pack.

Good to hear. Thanks for sharing. The 1984 wand gets me thinking too, I wonder if it will arrive with toasted marshmellow on it...

I recommend adding duck tape under the pool noodle as well otherwise it keeps popping off
Good point, that's what I in my case too.
Your very handy . Your very good at this stuff.... I can bearllllly use a hammer.
Lol

You'll get better at anything you spend more time on. I've made A LOT of mistakes to get to the point where I am now. Don't give up, just do...

interesting. I guess you're talking about mounting the ALICE frame really low. The curve at the bottom is the main challenge.
