He never let any of Ramsay's insults get to him (except for that one time when Ramsay accused him of sabotaging his team) and always maintained an energetic and optimistic attitude in the kitchen. He'd never make a list of Top Ten Best Hell's Kitchen Contestants but his huge amount of passion and determination would very easily make him one of the most likeable people to have ever been on the show.

A lot of people wonder why Ben was kept around (most think for entertainment). I think he was kept around because he did have a good attitude in the kitchen, just not good cooking.
They brought him back for Season 9 I believe, and he was damn good then. Without a doubt he was there for the entertainment, but he could cook, just had alot of problems.
It's fucking hilarious, that's like the whole point of the show. It's manufactured drama and him being creative as possible with his insults. It's like a game, if Ben gives in then ramsay wins if he doesn't ben wins.
That would explain why Ramsay was bitchy about "Ben giving him the attitude". He wasn't, he was just replying "yes chef" and "no chef", and I think this was Ramsay's last line of offense to stir some drama in that one episode. Gordon refused to pay the £6000 required to get his brother a good lawyer who can fight the charges because he has already paid for rehab 5 times and bailed him out numerous times, and also once actually bought him heroin to get him through his father's funeral. and now gordon and his mother have cut ties with the addict brother. gordon used to get whipped and beaten as a child and the abusive father poured scolding hot milk over gordons mother while she was sleeping and punched her and dragged her downstairs. the last they heard of their father was a note he left before running off saying "one day when you least expect it, ill come back and finish you all off". so what im saying in...ramsay has had a hell of a life and has still achieved his dreams of fame and becoming a culinary chef. i think people should cut him some slack and watch his other programmes to find out his true personality.

I don't get it. Ramsay usually likes chefs who never quits, who always keeps on fighting no matter what, ben is just like that, always head up high. And he can cook also.
But still, you can see ramsay has something against him. He is on him for small things, like if something is cold, he is up his ass for it 10 minutes. Its quite weird actually.
It's called having high standards for food.
Because it's a big deal, if I pay for food at a restaurant I don't want cold food, raw fish, over seasoned food, or something cooked on a dirty pan or something.

People need to realize that this is chef bootcamp, Ramsay's job is to break them, if you've ever seen him at actual work he is incredibly friendly, even after the cooking segments he alway applauds everyone who didn't quit. He's not some hot head douche bag, he's actually a very respected philanthropist hahaha
yeah and if youve ever read his autobiography "humble pie" you'll know a lot about him, he never swears infront of his missus or children, he wooed his wife with food, she had her clothes off halfway through appetisers they didnt even get onto the main course :P his brother is a heroin addict who has been jailed previously in indonesia for posession of a class A drug. Gordon refused to pay the £6000 required to get his brother a good lawyer who can fight the charges because he has already paid for rehab 5 times and bailed him out numerous times, and also once actually bought him heroin to get him through his father's funeral. and now gordon and his mother have cut ties with the addict brother. gordon used to get whipped and beaten as a child and the abusive father poured scolding hot milk over gordons mother while she was sleeping and punched her and dragged her downstairs. the last they heard of their father was a note he left before running off saying "one day when you least expect it, ill come back and finish you all off".
so what im saying in...ramsay has had a hell of a life and has still achieved his dreams of fame and becoming a culinary chef. i think people should cut him some slack and watch his other programmes to find out his true personality.

Thing is, when you see it in a tv show like this it seems very very harsh and there definitely is a lil bit of show to it, but you can't actually expect to be treated differently in most high class restaurants, especially when you've got a full house. Working in the kitchen is one hell of a job and not easy.
