hi Rory...so when is the best time of the year to travel up to Darwin on The Ghan..?? as I'm watching this I'm thinking that a rail trip for next year would be nice..unfortunately a platinum class cabin is way out of my price range..do you know what class is the cheapest for a solo traveller..?? as I'm on a pension I know I can get free rail travel within Victoria but as this rail company is a private company I doubt they have concession prices..I've never been to Darwin, let alone the Northern Territory..would be nice to mark off my non-existent bucket list, chuckle..
on my travels around the US I had gaitor whilst in Florida...they marinade it in orange soda...very nice...

@@grandmasmagic3858 gold class solo cabin is the cheapest $2165. there is no concession as it is not a subsidised service. the best time to go to darwin is during the dry season (May - Oct) however towards the end is high humidity. good luck!

What an incredible journey! It's astounding to think that one train trip can take you through diverse landscapes and climates. The Ghan is truly a testament to the resilience and innovation of human engineering. How has the railway influenced the stops and the communities along the way? It's remarkable to think that this luxurious experience is a product of the interplay between nature and human progress.

Roy, I am stunned. Firstly, the length. I thought it was only about 40 mins, but no, it's double that, and most importantly, unlike some youtube vids on travel which is long just because they show the view out of the window for an hour of the trip, every single second was an actual video. Definitely worth the wait, but still, can't believe your dedication to youtube, $7000 is a lot of money, Keep up the beyond excellent work!

It's a curse ship on wheels. Which is a shame because it makes it too expensive for anyone who isn't a cashed up tourist. It's a shame Journey Beyond Rail owns, the Gan, Indian Pacific and the Overland because before they were privatised they were a regular trains that was actually affordable. At least the long distance Queensland trains and the XPT service haven't met the same fate & remain a service that people can actually afford to use.

The dominant colours of trees and land in southern areas in Australia are a straw yellow and deep green. Further north, the green lightens to a bright shade, even becoming washed out in the tropics, and the straw colour becomes more brown and grey. I was reminded by some of the scenery in the video. Greeat and thorough video. Thank you!

Thank You for making this Video, it’s a journey we’ve always wanted to do, and by Platinum too. Love the length, this Journey to the top end is an experience and part of the holiday, so video needs to capture this, it’s not like hopping on a plane. We’ve got the DVDs of this Journey but your audio was far superior when the announcer spoke and you showed the menu and food like a food critic, this wasn’t shown as well on our brought DVDs.
So we’ll done they are my mother asked me where you sold your DVDs. This is the first video of yours we’ve seen, have to watch your Indian Pacific video now, to complement this once in a lifetime journey.
