Dad left his home town and ended up in Peterborough looking for work in 58 . He got a job in the Railway Roundhouse. He shortly after met Mum who was a Nurse in Training at the P'borough Hospital , when he was admitted for a bad fall. Mum's Family are Railway Family . They all left around 1962. They can remember it being so cold it was snowing , but they remember it being Boiling Hot Climate

A freight train carrying food to Perth runs along the railway line that you took from Sydney via Adelaide to Perth. A freight train transporting food consists of the following parts:
at the beginning there are two diesel electric locomotives, behind which there is first a freight car that has two smaller container tanks with fuel for the locomotives, the next car is a passenger car in which one controller sits, behind the passenger car there are several freight cars which transport two container refrigerators standing on top of each other and finally there are refrigerator wagons.

@@PaulaBean Sorry for the delay in responding. It was as excellent as this video showed. The staff were very friendly and professional, the off train excursions were very interesting but due to the time constraints of track usage a couple of them were not available, this was conveyed at the time of booking so there weren't any surprises in that regard and from 2025 onwards the journey will be over 5 days instead of four so that should hopefully solve this.
The food was phenomenal, truly some of the best I've ever tasted. Even the light snacks they provide before boarding are great.

Enjoyed your video Adam. Brought back fond memories of my trip on the Indian in 2017 and I'm tempted to do it again at the end of my Ashes tour in January 2026, but I''d feel well robbed if I didn't get the off train experiences. The dinner at Rawlinna under the stars was a highlight and my travelling companions still talk about it. I think the Gold single with shared bathroom facilities actually looks better than the compact en-suite in a Gold where it's possible to sit on the loo and shave and shower! Apart from sleeping I didn't spend anytime in my cabin so more space in the washrooms is appealing.

Some days ago, I watched your You-Tube for the first time in a while. But I didn't write my comment soon. It is one of my dreams to travel crossing Australia on this Australian train "The Indian-Pacific" and another train "The Ghan". Riding the long-distance train or the sightseeing trains are the journey in itself, isn't it!?

The number of Platinum carriages has been reduced from 4 to 2, as the demand has dropped on account of the exorbitant prices. Likewise, the length of the IP has been reduced from 29 to 26 carriages. Great train staff, with top-notch service when Lynley Lott and Deb Munn are the Service Operation Managers.
