i was stationed in Berlin when the wall fell and this concert happened. unfortunately i was not allowed to go to this concert. wish i could have. this was the monsters of rock tour. this one of the first ever western concerts in the former soviet union. people were thirsting for western cultur and music
This just after the fall of the USSR, and at that time when the communists were trying to wrest back control. Many of the kids in the audience had been fighting in the streets with military units loyal to the communists. They had also faced lots of pressure from the authorities simply for being metal heads....... so the joy at being finished with all that just added to the significance of this concert.
