"Creeping Death" , "Harvester Of Sorrow" and "Sad But True" from this '91 show are mind-blowing too. Seattle '89 is another mind-blower. The live "Master Of Puppets" is as bad-ass as it gets. Love your channel and your reactions Knox 👍 the Berlin Wall comment made me chuckle 🤭 That concert was probably the most epic thing ever in the history of metal 🤙
Metallica are legends! There is no other band that can even hold a candle to them! Like them or don't, they are undeniably legends!!! They are awesome live, so much energy at their shows!!!
Same concert- Creeping Death 🔥🔥🔥🔥. Deep lyrics- might want to see lyrics while listening, although you are great at catching lyrics and meaning. Great reaction!
Honestly, if you want to take this song a little deeper, the actual music video takes you for a hell of a ride! I’ve seen them in concert a couple of times and they are amazing!
one thing i've realized the more i delve into metal is that metal tends to get this bad rap for being "satanic" and other BS. A lot of it, if you listen to the lyrics and pay attention (like you do) a lot of metal music has a lot more deeper meanings than what people think it does.
As an avid listener to a lot of various branches of metal... There are definitely bands centered around Satanism. And even so, the music is still good. Dimmu Borgir and Behemoth are two major examples. A lot of the Satanic theme is either in reverence to Lucifer or pointing a finger at christianity and calling out the hypocrisy and the very very VERY long list of horrendous things done by christians to others and fellow christians. Listening to the lyrics and understanding the motivations behind them, it's not hard to see where the passion comes from. Any religion that calls itself peaceful is a lie. Every single one of them has butchered people for refusing to bow. Hell christians used to kill people over trivial things. Like suspecting the pretty girl of the village as being a witch because husbands had wandering eyes. Or saying that the papacy was corrupt and not actually God's spokesperson... To paraphrase a quote from a well known Satanist "Satan could have bought his way into the Church with enough money.". Most Satanic centered bands are outright vicious rejections to the tyranny that was christianity.
Man. Please react to Metallica's "One" or "Fade To Black". They're absolutely great songs (they rarely have bad songs). Or if you'd like to see Another of the Big Four, go look at Megadeth's "In My Darkest Hour", "Peace Sells... But Who's Buying?", "Symphony Of Destruction", or even something from their new album that just came out: "Dogs Of Chernobyl", "Soldier On!", or "The Sick, The Dying... And The Dead!".

Jason Nested talked about this and its pretty cool how it all went down and they ended up playing the Monster of Rock festival. I mean it also had Pantera, AC/DC, Black Crows. 1991 so much change was going on at that point.
I still don’t get the Black Crows being there. It was the Monsters of Rock, and at that time the Black Crows were a hot band, but I just don’t think they fit with the other bands.
This song is even darker than you would think. From what I have read, the song is a reference to SIDS (sudden infant death syndrome). originally, instead of "We're off to never-Neverland" it said "perfect family never the same again". So, it's literally a song about being afraid your child will die in their sleep.
Originally, it was a reference to SIDS. But the Producer, Bob Rock, convinced hetfield to change the lyrics to something more accessible and now its about Nightmares.
If u dive into Metallica you will discover way more than you imagined. Their artistry is top notch. They are not a heavy metal hair band cliché but the read deal.

And it's just Enter Sandman. This concert was Epic still to this day! Holds concert record in top 5 for amount of people in attendance. I Wish I could see it. That was definitely them in their prime. Or a live concert like this but after And Justice For All came out. Cause they have always been known to give songs from Multiple time periods he'll James will sometimes do Frantic and it's off worst album. Lol but Rob bass is makes it rock with drums and guitar as icing on Hard rockin song just not as complex fair basic structure but it does rock!
About the helicopters... I read somewhere that they used helicopters to circulate air. So that people in the middle of this crowd do not run out of oxygen.
Amazing job. great insight and breakdown of lyricism despite a flavor you're less familiar with. It's so fun to watch you experience a new lane of music. So many amazing mettalica tracks to pick from that are amazing. But with your breakdowns and historical and religious knowledge I would love to see you do creeping death as one of thier all time most played live songs it means a lot to the band. I would be an awesome ride with you. Thanks for all your work and your original music too. Appreciate and listen to all of it
Creeping death, one, battery, seek and destroy, the four Horsemen, the unforgiven, and maybe and Justice for all someday. Although it will probably take him a while to get up to that point, however, I love the fact that he puts as much energy into this type of music as he does hip-hop.
I like your interpretation a lot. Growing up with Metallica since I was 18 (that was almost 30 years ago) makes me happy to see you discovering the guys. And you so nailing the meaning of their songs. Feels great to find such a bright openminded person. Cheers!
You really need to check out Nightwish particularly wacken 2013 performance. The writer of the music is called the “Mozart of metal” the lead singer has literally been requested to sing the phone book and killed it! The general one people start with is “ghost love score” lots of different sounds or “Romanticide” much heavier.
The only Live shows I agree all reactors should see as it just shows the huge scale of how metal really did grip the world in these times... You see soldiers even getting into it. Just a really cool concert to react to...
This was the first major metal concert (Monsters of Rock) in Russia after the fall of the Berlin wall. It was held at an airforce base. These people had waited decades for this. Some say 1.6 million people.

Hard for the average individual to even comprehend 1.6 million people participating at one event. The Earth was shaking, reverberating, from every one of the crowd's jumps. The air was alive, trembled with, their combined energy.
And justice for all the whole album is amazing, along with ride the lightning, master of puppets you can’t go wrong with any of their early albums or their 90s albums
I saw Metallica in a small 200 to 300 people venue during the summer and it was the best concert I have ever been too. I was coming back from a bathroom break and entered from one of the stage sides and looking out at the audience was glorious. Everyone was sweating and bare armed, lights were flashing the sun was setting and they looked like a shining, golden sea in a lightning storm. Metallica was thundering from the stage and I was shook down to my toes. ❤❤❤❤
I've listened to this song literally thousands of times in the last 30+ years, and you managed to do more analysis of it in one listen than I have combined. Nicely done.
I really enjoyed your reaction. The concert was held at the old Tushino Airfield... the only venue that could accommodate the mass of fans. That is a runway that all those people are moshing on.
It made me really happy to watch someone see Metallica with fresh eyes after enjoying their music and energy for something like 36 years.
Cheers!
If you're gonna react to more Metallica, do a video about their song, "One". That song's awesome!
It’s crazy because it looks like an ocean of people I can’t even see where the crowd ends
You really need to check out Nightwish particularly wacken 2013 performance. The writer of the music is called the “Mozart of metal” the lead singer has literally been requested to sing the phone book and killed it! The general one people start with is “ghost love score” lots of different sounds or “Romanticide” much heavier.
'Creeping Death' from the same show is absolutely INSANE.
Hetfield has the ENTIRE CROWD chanting in unison with him.
Mind blowing $#!+.🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯
I'm sure Las Ulrich will be happy to know that he is knox hill certified lol
The only Live shows I agree all reactors should see as it just shows the huge scale of how metal really did grip the world in these times... You see soldiers even getting into it. Just a really cool concert to react to...
This was the first major metal concert (Monsters of Rock) in Russia after the fall of the Berlin wall. It was held at an airforce base. These people had waited decades for this. Some say 1.6 million people.
1.6 million is a folktale
@@RoverWaters it's a simple Google search. Try it sometime.
@@LanceThompsonKssooner "According to various sources (the exact figure cannot be given, because the entrance was free), on Saturday, from 300 to 400 thousand people visited the airfield in Tushino. They did not reach the Guinness Book of Records (while the record for attendance of the free Jean-Michel Jarre show in 1989 in Paris, which was attended by 1 million 300 thousand spectators, is held), but maybe this is for the best." Moskovsky Komsomolets" 01.10.1991
@@RoverWaters and as I said...there are other sources that said 1.6 million 🤷♂️ It is an estimate (correction). Did my post say it was a definite headcount? It was a festival over several days with many band and basically free entrance. But thanks for quoting a guy that used no definite facts to prove your point.
@@LanceThompsonKssooner no reliable source aver said 1.6 million
MetallicA fan since 84. I love your reactions dude. These guys are the reason I'm a musician. It's fun to watch people appreciate them! Good work my man! I'd love to see your reaction to "The Thing That Should Not Be"
Metallica didn't even headline this event. They were just the ones convicted, of stealing the show.
This was actually the Monsters of Rock Tour 91 in Moscow several of the big name bands from the US were there as a matter of fact I watched it live when it was on MTV all 9 hours of it
“Who is THAT dude? He’s having a great time. Drugs are fun!”
Bro, I busted up laughing and scared my wife. Of all the reactions I’ve watched for this video, that has to be the best comment about the crowd I’ve ever heard.
So here’s James talking about the show with Joe Rogan. He talks about how insane it was. th-cam.com/video/CgZxQIzoFdI/w-d-xo.html
Ok, last edit…please do Creeping Death from the same show…it’s the next song after this.
Who is that dude? Drugs are fun! 😆
Brother, there were 2 million people there! 300k soldiers! It was brutal! 🔥🔥
Retired trucker and this was a get up and go song when you need a little boost in your morning to get ya movin down the road . Plus that generations rock music was the best
Back when people were just people, each one unique in their own way and everyone else is accepting of them just as they are, dang I miss the old days!
you deserve a million thumbs up with the flow of how you do this . tha ks for getting me to enjoy streaming your channel . i msg alot im impressed and first time finding you is all
Metallica was the band that got me into playing guitar, Kirk is an absolute BEAST!!!
Monsters of Rock 1991 AC/DC. Metallica, Pantera, and others
They performed Creping Death at this show and I must say, it is the most epic performance of anything you'll ever see
Fade to Black from their concert in Lincoln Nebraska is amazing, also The Day that Never Comes live from Nimes France 2009 is A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!
Феноменальный момент. Слезы почему то наворачиваются ❤🎉
Greatest reaction to that song I've ever seen. I like that you talk about it and not only watching and nodding. By the way: The song is called "enter sandman", not "enter the sandman". Greetings from Germany!
If you want amazing lyrics, I highly recommend checking out System of a Down. Especially their song "Chop Suey"
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Originally the song was about crib death and the producers said no so James rewrote it.
Hard for the average individual to even comprehend 1.6 million people participating at one event. The Earth was shaking, reverberating, from every one of the crowd's jumps. The air was alive, trembled with, their combined energy.
My dad showed me this video when I was 10 and I said “this is this is the true definition of what the term Rock Star meant.”
All that energy directed right at Metallica I dont know how they did not just explode into a million pieces, that was fukin crazy!.
"This is some of the tear down the Berlin Walll sh#t.... " Yup the wall went months before this
I've listened to this song literally thousands of times in the last 30+ years, and you managed to do more analysis of it in one listen than I have combined.
I've seen them twice live and they were the best concerts I've been to. To see your face light up when this isn't usually your type of music reaffirmed to me that i haven't been imagining how great they are all these years! Thanks :)
I'm so happy you are getting into metallica. They will change your life
Saw this live in Seattle, where they filmed part of the binge and purge, the bass drum hitting on the opening was so intense the building shook.
Impressive ability to hear the lyrics. I'm a huge Metallica fan and been one for decades. I still can't catch Hetfield's lyrics that well. . . . The song is about nightmares. Good reaction.
When the official Video came out on MTV...I was floored. One video is the next to check out
My mom is 45 born in '79. To this day she still says the best concert she has ever been to was Metallica. She says nothing has compared to their energy or the way the band made her feel. 😊
still brings shivers all over me holy shit
You should definitely check out Pantera's performance of Domination at the same show. This was in 1991, just a few weeks before the Berlin Wall came down. This show was the first time that many - if not all - East Germans were able/allowed to attend a Western live gig. The reactions of the crowd speak for themselves....
Same concert, Pantera "Domination" and "Primal concrete sledge". It's groove metal, the Abbott bros Vinnie Paul on drums and Dimebag Darryl on guitar.
When Metallica is firing on all cylinders there is no better band live , the just go into God-mode🤘🔥🔥🔥🤘🤩🤘🙌🙌🔥
