    Wow awesome numbers for built 3V, awesome torque, awesome build back in the day, that is a massive throttle body
    and looks awesome under hood as well.

    Ive watched your other 3v stuff, got one thats high mileage and looking to build it - but came across an interesting option that I want to know if it is dumb or not: So obviously pre reqs would be I'm planning the rec. sct tuner, long tubes, and that Detroit rocker cam BUT. because my block is high mileage (no trauma) - I noticed there are some built 5.4 short block, so why not buy that instead of machining/rebuilding/upgrading the 4.6. The 5.4 short block kit has options for a flat dish design saying its compatible with 3v, and you can get the CR you want (theres a CR guide for 3v heads on their listing)
    I read there needs to be an adapter for in the intake - but besides that, heads can be the same, and then get the appropriate 5.4 timing/phasor lockout.
    Obviously I wouldn't end up with a legit gt500 motor, but I'm wondering if this combo makes sense. From a cost point of view it does because, regardless, I would have to rebuild my 4.6 and wanted the ~5.0 stroker kits. With buying a fresh short block and the compatibility of 3v heads and most all my other parts, seems like a no brainer??...
    Down the road I want to boost, but not right now. With the 5.4 shortblock I found - it handles the power I'm aiming for.

    Why are 3v parts thinning out? It seems every left people want a premium price for like 800 for a TB is insane. Will a stock throttle body from gt500 work on a 3v?? Pictures look like the same bolt pattern

    • @BrenspeedEngineering
      @BrenspeedEngineering  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Not the same bolt pattern. If you look around some companies sell an adaptor plate though to make them fit. BBK sells one for under $500 that is direct fit just not as nice as the $800 ones which include all your electronics on it and it is pre-set and tested. The BBK you have to set up yourself and make sure you get it right or your idle will be all over the board and maybe hang.

    • @BrenspeedEngineering
      @BrenspeedEngineering  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It depends on compression but typically if you are in that 9.8 area you can go 17 psi on 93 octane and still run plenty of timing. Of course built engine... not stock.

    What alternator and pulley did you have there? I went as small as possible on the sc pulley and melted my alternator down

    • @BrenspeedEngineering
      @BrenspeedEngineering  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Going small on the SC pulley only changes the speed of the supercharger not the alternator so that should have nothing to do with it. Now going overdrive on the crank pulley will or can cause alternator issues depending on how high of RPM you run. Metco makes larger alternator pulleys for when you use an overdrive crank to slow it back down to normal speed.

    • @BrenspeedEngineering
      @BrenspeedEngineering  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      On the B326 yes as long as your induction can handle it. Not an issue though as far as the short block goes.

    • @Jim_Lawrence
      @Jim_Lawrence ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Valve train limits rpm. (Valve float and instability) Rods or pistons limit low rpm torque. (Big cylinder pressure) This is almost always the rule.

    • @mattlarsen4550
      @mattlarsen4550 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ok thank you

    • @midnight347
      @midnight347 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @Jim Lawrence the older gt500s and their rods are why they don't like rpm not advisable to go above 6500 on stock bottom especially if making big power. It's the rods that limit th from revving safely but the stock cams aren't gonna make killer power that high anyways they're very conservative stock on 5.4 gt500s.

    • @Jim_Lawrence
      @Jim_Lawrence ปีที่แล้ว

      @@midnight347 I don't know that specific engine, but that's really the reason for me saying "almost always" and not an absolute. The only engines I remember hearing rods are breaking from rpm is when the pistons are extremely heavy. I don't have a specific example though, unfortunately.
      I do know, especially on boosted engines, rod failure at RPM is actually high temperatures causing rings to butt and piston failures. Not saying you are wrong and this is the case, I don't know this engine specifically. I speak in generalities, and I believe the B326 has good rods.
      In the pushrod 5.0, that upper HP limit where the block splits, from what I understand, is a balance issue. High RPM harmonics and block flexing causes those splits.

    ahhh dynojet... so more like 650rwhp lol.
    also E force sucks, it heat soaks worse than almost any other PD blower... Department of Boost 450 manifold and a m122 and a good heat exchanger and you'll do way way better than an E force

    • @BrenspeedEngineering
      @BrenspeedEngineering  ปีที่แล้ว

      I will agree to disagree lol. I have used EForce for a long time and I do not log any more IAT increases than other TVS style superchargers. Often it depends where the IAT is located and not all of them locate in the same area so temps read different. Techo use to "appear" to be bad IAT but really the sensor was located in the hottest area vs. what you would read on other type systems. And unless DOB has changed something the ones I logged with the giant piece of CNC aluminum lower manifold did not exhibit lower IAT temps than other systems. Thanks for watching and commenting appreciate it!

    • @midnight347
      @midnight347 หลายเดือนก่อน

      An e force is a 2.3 tvs it will definitely outperform an m122. However for the price an m122 is a good option for 3v guys ecsp stock motor 3v guys that blower could make 600+ rwhp on a built engine so it's a good one but it won't outperform a 2.3 tvs.

    • @midnight347
      @midnight347 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Dynojet is basically the standard in the industry. Most numbers ppl talk about are from a dynojet. Mustang dynos tend to read lower typically.
