So cute!!! Had a little stray "tortie" adopt me about 2 weeks ago. I'd seen her around my house for about a week, cat prints all over my car in the carport, then one day I found a dead mouse on my front door mat. Couple days later she started screaming at my front door. Went out there, petted her, held her on my shoulder for a good 5 minutes, set her down and opened the front screen door, she bolted in after 3-4 seconds of hesitation. Sniffed around like she owned the place, fed her a can of tuna, I knew that cat chose me lol. She hopped on my lap the whole 3 hour movie I watched, then fell asleep on my side/next to me that same night, ever since then she's been my little shadow lol.
Other than the "I choose you process", very unusual for a tortie to snuggle. They are usually very withdrawn between meals after which they want to play (hunt) then 💤. Count yourself lucky to have had yours choose you and act so Tabby.
I have 3 tortie rescues from 3 litters of the same mom and dad. Their mom is feral, and we had been trying to TNR her since her first litter, which was a single, and stunning, Tort. She has more cream and Orange than black, and her patches are very symmetric. Just 4 months later, Mom had another litter of 4 from a different Dad. No Torts, but the first was still hanging around. We were able to get those 4 socialized and adopting, but not the Tort. We still couldn't capture Mom, who was EXTREMELY cautious, but let her kittens get fed. She finally rejected the older Tort (Tater, about 7 months old) and Tater became friendly. Poor thing could barely see because of a lung infection that affected her ability to open her eyes (corrected with steroids). She was so hungry and dependent, she quickly learned that schmoozing the human = food. We adopted her, and she was very sweet, but extremely nervous and practically blind. Her Mom isn't verbal, and we have barking Dogs in the neighborhood, so while she was outdoors she learned to bark...loud! lol We didn't see Mom for some time, but found out from a neighbor she had 2 litters of 9 kittens, then 1 Tort. Geez. She showed up about 2 months after we had adopted Tater, and she was in terrible condition. Only 2 of her big litter had survived, plus the younger Tort. Mom was so desperate and on deaths door, we were finally able to TNR her and take in her 3 survivors. The shelter said Mom was pregnant yet again! Damn. Of the 3 we began to socialize, there was a Tort female, and a stunning black male with awesome white highlites, and a younger Tort. The male was quickly adopted. We ended up adopting the 2 Torts because they were very close. The older sibling were very nervous for months, but the youngest was a relaxed charmer from day 1. The youngest took it upon herself to teach the other 2 how to be more human friendly and relax. It's awesome to see these 3 beautiful sisters, all from different litters, warm to each other and own the home as a unit. We're currently trying to get Mom (jet black) socialized enough for adoption, but it will take a long time. She is so programmed to being cautious, it has taken 3 months for her to just sniff my hand rather than jump away. To her credit, she never strikes out. I'm not sure she will ever adapt to being an indoor cat, but she sure is happy to have free time and regular feedings. Either way, she has a better life than the cruelty of 'heat' dictates for feral females.
This cat looks EXACTLY like my cat named cheslea but older, the patterns are simmilar but sadly she passed yesterday (btw today is /16/10/2020/ and today she should have been 7 month old) she died at 2:00 PM and her brother misses her VERY MUCH... I miss my cat already
Yeah, so my tortie did the same thing and I thought it was all cutesy, rainbows, butterflies and sunshine ………..up until the point where her vet said it was because of an obstruction in her airway. So $3,000 later she’s back to her normal self.
Is she a long haired breed of Tortoiseshell cat's are not 1 particular breed, it's just the color markings & different breeds combined. There are Certain Breed of cat that makes this particular sound's it's not a typical purr rather it is a vocalizations done by 1 breed in particular breed of Maine Coon Cat's who chirp more than meow. So you might just have yourself a Maine Coon Mix/Tortie-Diva. 💖😻🐈
