I remember living in LA in the 80s and running into Rutger Hauer at a small 4 way Stop intersection that we both entered at the same time. I immediately recognized him as our eyes met for me to signal to him to go ahead and go through first. He recognized that I recognized him and gave me a big smile and fractious wave. I love blade runner, but this ambience is very special to me. The rain gives me a sense of loneliness, confusion, the feeling of being left alone, though knowing others are out there, people just like me. The choir sounds threatening, but mysterious, like you know somewhere, something is going to happen. It fills me with a need of wanting to do something about my current situation, but feeling helpless at the same time. Right now I feel alone, like I'm falling endlessly, but I know, out there, in the rain, is someone to comfort me. So thank you.

The story is beautiful, the way the world is shown to us is beautiful, almost every line a character says is beautifully written and delivered, and I reckon that Blade Runner 2049 has managed to do something that not a lot of sequels can pull off: it has captured the essence and magic of the original film.

There was as speech in the script, but Rutger didn't like it because it was full with phrases that nobody could really understand. So he asked Ridley if he could change it, which he allowed. He still used some phrases like the C-beams glittering thing from the original script, but he left out a huge chunk of the original and improvised a lot.

So I told him the movie starred a famous dutch actor Rutger Hauer. He didn't know him. After the movie he said, 'That was a nice scene' ... He was impressed. Me, I just saw the movie as a whole, scifi, special fx, the Vangelis music etc. For me the 'tears in the rain' scene had not stand out, but for him it did. Listen Buddy, It may sound stupid but did you watched it just once? Because when I first saw it (a year ago) it was kinda boring to me. Slow pace and I couldn’t really tell what the movie was about. A few weeks later the movie was still in my head and I thought “I heard so often than this movie is a masterpiece why couldn’t I tell?” so I bought the DVD and watched it again and.. I cannot describe the feeling this movie gave me. This film is by far my favorite movie of all time and beats even every movie I have loaded up with nostalgia. This movie has something so vastly different than every other movie that this is legit the only movie I watched 3 times in a row because I just wanted to. Maybe give it an another try because this movie hits different today more than ever because in our future we will face the question “What makes a human.. human?” quit often when we face modern AI. Let this movie slip into your mind. Let the conversation sink in. Let the music flow in your mind and just.. enjoy it.

Last night, I had a weird dream about Blade Runner. The dream took place in an alternate scenario of the first movie, where Deckard failed to accomplish his mission, and Batty took control of the Tyrell corporation, using the tower as a palace to rule the city. Replicants were now masters of the humans, and Batty himself, after he had vanquished his own "death", was concerned about having an heir to rule after him and spread his seed to the world. He held Rachel as a captive, trying every possible way to make her pregnant, but every attempt failed poorly and Batty was growing mad. Then, I remember switching deep down to the bottom of the streets, were I was sitting, with other citizens, gazing at the sky, the rain washing our faces with water, as the distant lights of the "upper-world" shone above us into the dark, liquid night... Then I woke up. And I felt moved. Deeply.

I'm weirdly horrified by this, because it comes so close to the dystopian horrors Phillip Dick was warning about. As in, not live music but synthesizer music with rain sounds, looped for ten hours so your brain is fooled into sleeping or at least sufficiently anesthetized. Where does the metaphor end and reality begin?

This is extremely similar to Delta Wave music which uses binaural frequencies that actually help move your brain into a state of relaxation. Those frequencies weren't invented, but discovered (the future always seems scary, but let's not forget a human played the notes and arranged the music. The real horror is AI generated music, sounds like demons half the time

As I lay here encompassed in the cold air of night with the stars twinkling above, I am accompanied by this monumental work and tender experience you have delivered to us.
It heals the aches in my knees and soothes the longing in my soul for rest. I find myself breathing deeply and dreaming greatly, appreciating the splendor of the heavens above and the quiet footfalls of rain dancing outside my window.
No memory or internal fire, just drifting peacefully on the wheel of time to worlds beyond.

I've been there...for 16 years...halfway across this planet from the love of my life....waiting....waiting, for promises unkept...she left America and back to Korea due to student visa expiration....me, had to stay here for years and year taking care of my dying parents...now gone. Haven't seen her face since 2003...January....aside from a 2013, 9 hour Skype video chat....She moved to Australia, became a nurse, bought a tiny house for herself....she married someone out of loneliness...a younger guy....now 6 years with him....says she loves him now...got used to being with him.......promised me she would come back and that he was just a guy who liked her but not to worry because she had no interest in him...that we would have our chance again....yet they are married 5 years now and she hasn't answered my e-mails since 10 months......told me to forget her and stop trying in her last mail...." move on with your life. I will never go back to you. My life is settled in Australia....I feel sorry for you because I know you've waited so long for me...but you are wasting your time. You are trying to change something that you cannot." She is 45. We were supposed to have kids and have a life together here in the USA. I stayed faithful to her in my heart for the last 17 years even though I was tempted many times to date others but I did not have love for them. No interest. We were 5 years together from 1998 - 2003. Now no replies, social media blocked on messenger service....and no e-mail reply now since almost a year. Just ignoring, just nothing. Now laying alone in my bed at 4:00 am in my shit apartment....listening to this music. Empty. Lonely. 54 years old. With nothing in my life. Talking to myself on a comment section on fucking youtube.

The sound quality of the rain mixed with the various futuristic tones is perfect! it's not so overbearing that it gets dynamic, too high or too low while it transports me into the right mindset for the mood I really want for sleeping with. It also awakens a deep desire of sleeping through a constant night rain and gives me the right platform. This is the best out there! Thanks so much!
