Bro thank you!!!! You are really helpful for sharing what's basic terminologies of parts of stairs and how it apply to my architetural sketches.... Sadly I finished 1st year without knowing those thing...
I'm in my first year about next week semester 1 will be done. I'm trying to learn more from TH-cam as uni isn't enough for me to learn especially drawings and staircases
Very helpful from my heart I am very thankful with you Sir. So, the rest of the lumber what support each step it's name is (waist slab) as you can observe I am learning the name of each part of one complete stair. Once more thanks a lot God bless you, Sir. Keeping doing more videos about carpentry for the TH-camr learner.
Without a doubt the best and most informative video I've ever had the pleasure to view. You ,sir, are very much appreciated! Please keep sharing your vast knowledge so clearly and completely.
Just viewed this. Very good video except for the riser-tread calculation. You should note that the 2R + T = 600 only works well for risers between about 150 and 200 (6" to 8"). Outside this range I have found the formula R/T = tan [(R-3)*8°] using inches works very well. (I think this would be R/T = tan {[(R-76)/25.4]*8°} in metric.). I have used this many times, and it never fails to provide comfortable stairs. My favorite pitch is 4 5/8" riser and 20" tread (117 x 508) which I used for some stairs in my garden. Very easy to walk up and down.

How do you count the distance between the upright poles? Or it depends on the length of the stairs.
I think you mean the balusters, when their base is connected to the staircase.
