Being a nobody and a somebody at the same time is that internal conflict that plagues both the empath and the narcissist! They both need radical self transformation. Our first step in healing from narcissistic abuse is to recognize the weakness and the desperation of the narcissist to be a somebody! I started to feel pity for the narcissist and that automatically transformed me from feeling like victim!

It is possible to feel pity for the narcissist while still protecting yourself from her or him. They mean it personally when the attempt to hurt you. But you need to take it personally only insofar as to move them out of your life. If you understand how captive they are to trauma, then you come to see them as people who can't help themselves.

@@bedebill I think they know what they are doing, because the covert smeared my name, but degraded and tried to destroy me in secret, he did not show the degrading in public, however, my understanding they know they are hurting, but do not understand your pain or the damage they do. They just understand you deserve it. I think it is possible to feel sorry for them, understand the trauma they carry and keep your distance from them. I look at their behavior, try to read their behavior and read what is going through their mind. They mimic the parent that did this to them. I try to understand it. At some point in life, one might not take it personal, if you still socialize or see them, but not in an intimate level. I try to see him as the injured child, feel empathy for him, but not when the true Narc, Mr. Hyde, gives you a warning. I find they warn you when they give you that calculating stare then you see the true Narc in their dark eyes, then that is my cue to leave the next day Dr. Jekyll comes back. I am afraid they are very damaged. Just figure being damaged since birth by a caretaker that was damaged, through no fault of their own. They know no other way. They mimic people behavior, but incapable to mimic the soul and spirit.

Somebody give this man an award! Your work has been so helpful to me. Thank you so much. Have you ever thought about doing any content on addiction? There's a great deal of overlap between theories and models of self-transformation within psychology, and theories of addiction and the 12-step model of recovery or "spiritual awakening" (which, to my mind, seems to be the same as self-transformation). I think your approach could be very popular for addicts who have trouble swallowing the 12-step culture and language. Food for thought.

It's vital to find out who you really are. Without it, our lives are totally frustrated and never at peace. When others's prevent you from doing so, and they force you to become everything their sick minds needs, be it good, bad and everything to satisfy their mindset, being free to just be and get to see who you really are is something money cannot buy. Not always easy, but fascinating at the same time. And when you see yourself making decisions you were never allowed to make, and surprise yourself, often, and just recognising who you are in your own space, it feels good whatever the outcome is, just to be free to do it, and growing into yourself, to fit in your own body, as such.

The writings of Carl Jung also are deeply connected to the Heroes Journey, and the process towards ' wholeness'. He was/is a pivotal figure that hypothesized on human individuation as an alchemical, dramaturgical, spiritual process...
Somewhat disconnected, but felt to share, I have been really disturbed by the hateful vitriol concerning people who are deemed or classified as Narcissists. I am not trying to condone their painful behaviors or the effects on anyone- but they too whether they are able/ willing to acknowledge it, suffer a deep, deep, wounding.
Even narcissists have their story, and are a vital teaching/ learning aide- if we choose to see them as such and it is no surprise to me at this point in history that we are having such a visceral reaction to narcissists- look at the society in which we live!! Look at our leader's, look at the incredible disparity in wealth and access to basic necessities in different parts of the world... Look at what our governments spend on death and defense. Look at his we treat the least of our society- persons with mental health issues, prisoners etc.. It is deeply narcissistic! I believe we all need to take the journey inward, towards self transformation- to bring about the change collectively, globally.... I believe that when you heal and integrate the Self, you are able to view Life in its totality, looking at ALL that life has to offer both good, bad, arbitrary and everything in between and a result is more self awarness, respect of ones boundaries and love and empathy towards others and our environment at large.
I can't wait for more videos.
    Thanks Doctor!!

I believe that conflicts or traumas in one's life are times when the 'invisible becomes visible' briefly and a great opportunity as one seeks understanding 'within as without' during this period of fragmentation that questions former self beliefs and a time where the ego tries to override, to dull the pain, and put one back to sleep. What has been called 'the dark night of the soul'.
There is no better time for seeking help or advise or nurturing from someone of wisdom as this is such a wondrous opportunity to discover a greater understanding of self and that of life. I believe such are hurdles that even great people face and who fear just as anyone but push through emotions and self doubt so as to feel empowered by each trauma experience along ones chosen path.
It's not often a doctor would operate on self hence it may also apply to one's own advice... so my words are that of expressing my thoughts out loud so I can listen for I live alone and somewhat isolated. Much appreciate for your time and for sharing your knowledge and wisdom... I sense an iceberg as I listen with certain keys and the essence of far greater depths... Regards D

Thank you, Dr Saad! I have been on this exact Path for decades, imagine my delight and surprise to find you now offering this mini-series which I hope will take me from painfully & secretly more or less highly self-aware to more calmly serenely joyfully quietly open and spiritually self-realized. Being an American, I don't instinctively know what "fair dinkum" means exactly, but I hazard a guess I'm about to find out!
I have realized I've become Co-Dependent and last year began working various 12-step programs to extricate myself from those patterns. It's a shock to us to realize how selfish, flawed and human we really are. Talk about an inaccurate map!!! Ouch.
It's interesting too, about 3 days ago I was, during meditation, fully struck by the Nobody+Somebody conundrum you mention here, Dr. Saad, and walking around 24/7 applying it both to mySelf and to each person I interact with has been [another] radical Level Up on my journey.
I will be listening to this several more times, to make sure it sticks & percolates into my brain/heart/Life. Thank you again & looking forward to doing this Transformation with your help!
    PS:
For anyone new to this type of thinking or Path, the writer Dr Saad is referring to pronounced "Mace" is Dr Caroline Myss, if you want to Google her or read her books.

      Joanne,
Thank you for the ‘Freudian Typo’...journey towards the SCARED as opposed to sacred.
If it was intentional I think it’s very witty. Cheers

Thank you SO MUCH for the wonderful infomation that you've provided here. It has been tremendously encouraging and helpful to me. I definitely identfy with being an empath as well as a "nice guy." I've been working hard at the suggestions you've made to leave the nice guy paradigm of living life as well as the 5 steps empaths should take to improve their lives. It has been helping me out A LOT, but I have a long way to go. Thank You! :-)

Dr. Saad thank you for your remarkable series of videos. This is the best talk on the journey of self transformation I have ever come across. The image of the crowded room versus the large house and of the truncated map is very illuminating. Looking forward to learning about the paradox of being nobody and somebody at the same time. I used to feel a separation but now I feel like an everybody thanks to the work I have been doing. Thanks again for sharing your expertise.

You are so spot on. I am even a different person than I was two days ago and I am certainly not even close to the person I was one, two, three years ago. Even though I am still not where I want to be, thank God that I'm nowhere close to being where I was. I call my transformation, " Out of the Darkness I came." I can't wait to see the rest of the series. I learn so much from you. I love the quotes. I share them. I gain so much inspiration from you. And Hello from South Carolina, USA.

This has been an amazing video for me. I have searched & I've been counseled for close to 20 years and it is only after viewing this video that I can now identify some of my biggest issues. Up until today I have read and studied and identified with these issues but did not have the understanding or knowledge to see as clearly as I do right now. To use an analogy all these years it has been like I have heard a scary noise outside the house but did not have the confidence or clarity to actually go out to check on what it might be. I am now ready to leave the house fully equipped to investigate the noise with confidence! Thank you Dr.Saad🙏

Thanks for another great video on self transformation or evolution in the personal level. This is a great subject in which it can help me personally be above daily low-energy viewpoint and instead take a higher level of spiritual path through meditation and self discovery.
Can't wait to see the entire series.
    All the best to you.

"I am nobody and a I somebody at the same time" reminds me of the quote "humility is not thinking less about yourself but thinking about yourself less" Watched most of your videos and this one is my favourite. should have had many more likes. Holy book talks about putting on the new personality collosians 3.10. and what the new personality consists of.

Hi Vital Mind! At 11min.28sec you mention William Campbell. I believe you might be thinking about Joseph Campbell, the author of The Hero with a Thousand Faces, the book about the hero's journey you mentioned. Anyway, that's all! Thank you for these brilliant videos. They are invaluable.

I just became aware that a series of lectures by William Campbell is now available on Netflix. Hope you don't mind the advertising, but as he has now passed on this is archival material and may be of interest to some viewers of this channel (since you mentioned him).

moirasmith isn’t it Joseph Campbell Dr Saad is referring to? I have his book “The Hero With a Thousand Faces”. Interesting stuff, but as with most people, I think some of his ideas aren’t so great. Definitely worth a read!
