Headers are high on the list for lots of people looking to upgrade their ride.. but are they worth it? How much power is lost by running those factory manifolds? Today in the dyno room, Nick will have the answers. - ยานยนต์และพาหนะ
Nick I spent over 25 years in the US ARMY, and have been around the world. I have seen many many things some bad, some very bad. I have seen the worst of what human's are capable of doing, and in the same breath I have seen some good thing's in human's that would amaze you. But it was always the small thing's that proved the most!
I have been watching your show now for a little while, and I have seen what some would call "small things" the kindness and love for what you do. Some people may say "he is in business he has to be nice to the customers" but that's not it. Like hanging of the flags that people send you, EVEN if you already have one.
Or moving EVERYTHING AROUND to take a picture in your challenger with a fan's granddaughter so she may give her grandfather that love filled Christmas gift that is just that much more.
It's those small things that most may not realize how that can change a person's day or dare to say even life. Hearing their name seeing what they sent you being added to your shop on one of your videos.
It's those "small things" that love of your customers and fans, that comes through the videos you put out. That makes this world just that much better.
So to you and yours at home and the shop from myself and my family and dare to say my country, may you have a Merry Christmas and the most blessed of new years. And keep showing the world that 1 "small thing" from putting up a flag, snapping a photo, or simply loving what you do and sharing that can make this world a little bit better..

I enjoy watching your videos very much, not just because of your good work but Something you said in a video when building an engine for a customer. When speaking to this man you pointed out that you test all of your engines. So that way you are 100% that you sell what you promised.
And that most builders do not test. I know this I have had a couple of engines rebuilt and did not get what I wanted. I.E I got ripped off. It is that devotion to your customers and to the quality that they get what they are promised.
And in the end you prove what my grandfather taught me as a young man which I passed on to my children.
There is only 1 thing you are born with that NO one can take from you but you yourself! And that is.....
YOUR WORD!
I watched him make deals with people on a handshake because of his WORD. and I am blessed to see that again in you and the work of your crew.
I have a project that I am planning for and I hope that I will be able to enlist you in the building of my dream car.. But until then I will keep watching a true man of his word and work in your videos.

I''ve never been East of Manitoba. If I ever do go out East, LMC,The Guild & Nick's Garage are about the only places i'd care to visit. I like how Nick takes the time to be so nice to the kids. Definately a stand up guy.
I've been to LMC, nothing more than a kind of attempt of show room, and doors leading to a huge Warehouse full of made in China and Taiwan boxes that you never see except when they roll through the door with a cart of your parts. Definitely anticlimactic
We need more people like Nick on this world, just kind hearted with a true soul.

Nick, I've just discovered your channel and I've been looking at as many videos as I can each day. I usually do not ever write to any of the VLOGer's I watch however, I just had to comment on how nice a guy I think you are to take the time with this little girl and treat her so special! You are truly a wonderful guy to do that for her and her grandfather. This is how we get little girls to grow up and take an interest in our sport! You're the BEST Nick!!

Oliver and his engine: Nick is a smart man. I used to work in a cabinet shop. On evenings and weekends the boss used to let us work on our own stuff using scrap material and the shop equipment. I offered him some dough one time to cover electricity, wear and tear on the saw blades etc. He said no, he likes it when we come in....He said "you guys working and trying new things on your stuff means that you learn and if you screw up, you screw up on YOUR stuff not a customer's lol.....I used the same attitude when I opened up my own place and hired people.....
How special, you would do this for a young Child, and her Papa. Magic. Not many would do this.

We recently did the 440source 439 ci kit with 383 block, edelbrock RPM heads with Lunati Voodoo 268 duration hydraulic flat tappet cam, 780 holley with holley street dominator intake. On California 91 we got 504 HP and 540 ftb torque. ..these kits are awesome for 383 owners!

I learn every time I watch. I didn't know how guys made the 426 wedge. I had 383 s and 440s. I was sure headers made more horse. I put them on my 66 Cornet it was like an amazing tune up. High rise also made like 30 more horse. My 70 charger 440 had a1050 3 barrel but the fuel pump could not get fuel fast enough. It was dogging after a few seconds and I could never figured it out.i sold it and they made it work but flipped it end over end 3 times. 24000 miles.
Taking time out for someone else's family is a really nice thing to do. Nick and his guys sure sound like great people. Hello from Texas!

Nick, you sir are a class act that very few can follow. You probably made that little girl’s year with the shop tour and photos for her grandpa. I wish I lived close enough to come by and visit you and the shop. I’ve only just found your channel in this last month, but I really enjoy watching. My son works in a diesel performance shop and also watches your channel, he says you’re a genius and an engine guru. From what I’ve seen so far his praises of you fall somewhat short of your actual abilities.

Nick is no doubt a great mechanic, but he is also a VERY RARE mechanic because he’s a Mopar guy but, he knows just as much about Chevy, and Ford…he’s just a V8 guy and that’s what I like him, he likes all muscle not just 1 or 2. My dad owned "Betsy 2" and it was a 66 Chrysler 300 2 door coupe. I would love to own one someday, have a built up 413 under the hood. Bored .030 over, original cast crank, cast rods, cast flat top pistons, a nice 10.1 compression, Edelbrock Performer RPM aluminum intake manifold, rebuilt Carter AFB carb-650 cfm. A nice Crane Cams hydraulic cam that's has brutal mid range torque, 2500 rpm stall, 3.73 posi unit. Let's see, 345hp and 410 ft lbs of torque would be good. Exhaust manifolds and true dual exhaust. Flowmaster 50 series muffs. Interior is all stock. 727 Torqueflite transmission is rebuilt and modified. Car made for summer cruise night car shows and Mopar Nationals. Occasional fall cruising in the countryside. Occasional bracket racing at the strip.
Nice to see that built up 383 on the Dyno, but will never understand why no headers at least, and if you have room, leaving the cast intake on as well. Heck I run a header on my built 6. The pictures of the little sweetheart are cute..but Grandpa going to be pissed that it wasn't him that got to do those things along w/her!,lol first person in the K project..sitting in the Dyno control chair, and most of all hanging out w/Nick like that. A Very Merry Christmas to everyone in the shop and their families, and to all the viewers out there as well, may it be a Blessed New Year also!
Of course I was just kidding about her grandpa..whose going to be as proud as he can be, and can you imagine how cool the vid and pictures will be for the girl herself, when she gets older and realizes how special the visit was, and how special that car is as well ;) Such a cool thing for Nick to do!
The advantages of manifolds are they are quieter, more durable, take up less space and look original to the car. The only advantages of headers are power and weight. They don't always win in that respect because it's all about the flow out. If the manifold has similar flow numbers to the header, then the only advantage it weight. On a stock or near stock engine there is little advantage to a header.

I had a 71 Charger R/T that was shown at the 71 NY auto show. It said 440 on the hood when I rebuilt the motor I found that Mother Mopar had replaced the 440 with a 426 wedge to impress the journalists. It was a screamer, brutally fast.
Merry Christmas from another old Mopar man. In the day headers on a stock 440 mag gave little SOP gain. The 2 1/2 w/h-pipe was the top exhaust from any mfr. I was a Direct Conn. dealer in the 70's. The DC manual was a fantastic guide.
