My favorites are Judith Mcnaught, Mary Balogh and lately Mimi Matthews (thanks to your recommendation!). There are many I love but these three are the top. I trust them completely.
Thank you so much for doing this! I took your list to my local used bookstore and spent some time searching for the titles and learning about new-to-me authors.
Lisa Kleypas has got to be my absolute favorite author as I have read and loved everything by her. Julia Quinn and Tessa Dare I have also read extensively. Although Kerrigan Byrne, Sarah MacLean, Stephanie Laurens, Joanna Shupe, Stacy Reid could possibly be as well, but I haven't read enough of their backlist yet; but they definitely already have some of my favorite of all time historical romances. 🩷 I loved this video and the way you laid everything out!
Thank you Crystal ! These are the best of the best, and I could not put them down when I read them. And most of them where recommanded by you my friend !!!
I love Lisa Kleypas, Stacy Reid, Tessa Dare, Lorraine Heath, and Ella Quinn. I also enjoy old Julie Garwood, some of Johanna Lyndsey's series, Teresa Medeiros and Jude Devereaux.
Love your list. There are some my favourites authors stop writing. But I really love their works. Lavyrle Spencer and Judith Ivory have beautiful writing style. Joanna Bourne’s spymasters series is one of my favs. And Pamela Clare, she only wrote 3 historical romance, but they are so good.
So far Lisa Kleypas and Stacy Reid are my favorites. I've only been reading Historical romance for two/three years so I have so many authors to try. I just started the audio books for the Maiden Lane series in July and its growing on me. The darker elements took some time to adapt too. I just started book 4 which I'm very excited about. Winter is such an fascinating character.
This is such a great video idea. I love your recommendations. I really need to read Day of the Duchess. Rogue Not Taken was a 5 star for me so I'm really excited to read the rest of the series.
❤ My favourite is Sarah MacLean and her The Rogue Not Taken. I have just finished the Bedwyn Saga and while the last one (Slightly Dangerous) was my favourite, I agree that it was more enjoyable for having read the series in order. I love Julie Anne Long and while her Palace of Rogues is probably her best series, there are some truly amazing books in her Pennyroyal Green series (especially What I Did for a Duke).
Thank you for the suggestion of Julie Ann Long. I had a couple of her books downloaded but unread. Because I don’t read a lot of historicals, I started with her Hellcat Canyon contemporary series. She is such a wonderful writer - funny and insightful. She never relies on cliche or stereotype, so her stories spring fresh from the pages. She reminds me a little of Penny Reid, with the ability to write hilarious dialogue, but then make you catch your breath at the honest portrayal of raw emotion. I’d add Loretta Chase to the list. A wonderfully skilled writer and a meticulous student of history.
I read my first Stacy Reid this month and loved it! I definitely plan on reading more by her, and I have books by Erin Langston, Joanna Shupe, Elisa Braden, and Lorraine Heath on my TBR💗
🩷 I love all these authors and I would also put Mimi Matthews on my list. I started historical romance by binging the back lists of Lisa Kleypas and Amanda Quick before I tried any other HR authers.
I totally agree with your favorites of the older authors. Elizabeth Hoyt is an after thought? No! However I love your favorite of hers as well. 😂 The author I think should be in this list is Grace Burrowes especially the Windham series, but any are good.
I’m so glad you included Julie Anne Long (JAL) as I started reading her books from one of your recommendation videos from last year. I’ve read the entire Palace of Rogues series so far and absolutely loved it. JAL is so underrated and I always recommend her every chance I get. 👏🏼
Indigo is my favorite book. I will read anything from Beverly Jenkins, Julie Garwood, Lisa Kleypas & Lorraine Heath.❤ I haven't read anything by Stacy Reid so I'll add her to my list.
💗 I got more recs from this video from authors I love that you recommend....but if I'm picking favorites it's probably The Palace of Rogues book 2 and 6....or The Hell's Bells by MacLean....
Top ten, wait no, 11, wait… 14 🤣 Love this. I’m currently reading Romancing The Duke (thanks to you) and I’m obsessed! I only have a few chapters left and it’s definitely a new favorite. So so good. I also enjoyed Indigo. The Wolf and the Wildflower is on my radar, as well as The Dutchess Deal and the rest of the Tessa Dare book. I read most of the Mary Balough series, too. It’s definitely slow burn but a few in the series I really love! I forgot which ones since the titles are so similar haha
Thanks Crystal. This is one of your best reviews as you've suggested so many authors. My favourite is Lisa Kleypas and Derek is one of her best heroes. I also love her Again The Magic and Suddenly You, among others. I've purchased as many of her catalogue as are available, and have read some multiple times.
I feel we can judge a book so harshly when its a favorite author and it doesn't live up to previous books. In reality that book is often good and way better than works by other authors in the genre.
Mila Finelli is the pen name for Joanna Shupe, not Mila Vane, I mis spoke!
My favorites are Judith Mcnaught, Mary Balogh and lately Mimi Matthews (thanks to your recommendation!).

Kleypas is top notch. I’ve read 22 of her books

I just borrowed the audiobook for The Rogue Not Taken from my library and saved so many to my fave for future reading ❤😊
I have read and loved every book and author on this list except Julie Anne Long. I need to rectify that soon! Thanks for the recs 💜

I’m so, so happy to see Mary Balogh on your list 🥰🩷 The next romance on my tbr is «The Finest Print», on your recommendation 😊
I’m new to historical, and your video today was JACKPOT for me! I bought 8 books after viewing your video!!! 🩷 thank you, THANK YOU!!
Yes!! Saving these for later!
Love these! I'd have to have Kate Bateman on my best authors list.💖
So many great recs here! I read Rebel from Beverly Jenkins a few days ago and fell in love. It’s right up there with Indigo for me 💙
I really like Rebel too!
I read my first Stacy Reid this month and loved it! I definitely plan on reading more by her, and I have books by Erin Langston, Joanna Shupe, Elisa Braden, and Lorraine Heath on my TBR💗

Someone to Watch over Me was my first LK, but Dreaming of You is my favorite of hers!
@zoer1215 Someone To Watch Over Me is a good one too! But Dreaming of You just can't be topped!

I'm a certified yapper 😆
I love Lisa Kleypas. I read The Ravenels first and then the Wallflower series. I need to read The Hathaways.
Serenity you are in for some good reads with the Hathaways!
💗
🩷 great recommendations, thank you!
Cold Hearted Rake was my first LK.. which is why I never realized why so many people didn't care for that one. Haha!
Yeah I would have been a bit put off if that was my first LK hahaha
I feel we can judge a book so harshly when its a favorite author and it doesn't live up to previous books. In reality that book is often good and way better than works by other authors in the genre.
You've talked about almost all of my favourites my dear friend. I would only need to add Mimi Matthews, and that's pretty much it.
Great video! 🩷🩷🩷🩷

Does any one know why Lisa Klepas stopped releasing books? What a shame!
I can't find find a reason when I've searched it online. It is a shame!
