I just graduated from BMT January 7th. We got issued only toiletries and a few other things in the backpack we got the first night. We aren't able to go to the BX until your flight is our of quaratine to get more stuff, which was the 4th week of training for my flight. Hope this helps!
I went to bmt last march spent about half on that $400 card they issued. The card can still be used for tech school or if you want a cash out you would call the back of the card. Curious was the EOC test difficult they cancel that for my flight because of so many cancel classes during covid.

In 1968 you received a cash payment on your first day of basic about half of a months pay. You got $25.00. you were them marched to the barbershop and paid $1.00 for a haircut then taken to the BX and purchase a soap holder, soap, razer, shaving cream, shower shoes, shampoo, toothpaste, tooth brush, and some other personal items. Everyone had to have the same.

@@kata9264 BMT is definitely a learning process. Everything is for a reason. That’s my best advice. Tech school is amazing. Short. It goes by very quick. Make good friends. Enjoy being able to go off base. The teachers are amazing. The job itself is pretty easy. It’s all about customer service and a lot of talking. But i love it. Good luck!
Oh! I didn't know they were gift cards that they gave you. I thought they gave your credit cards lol I was worried lol could we being our own debit card?
I thought they didn’t allow that??? So you have glasses and they told you to have a glasses strap? Did they want you to get them before bmt or were they going to issue it to you?
Ashley Moore is a TH-cam I recently started watching. She joined at 34 and she’s married with a child so she may have the perspective you are looking for. I’ll be 35 this year and I’m considering joining and have been looking for women have joined at an older age specifically in their 30’s.

@@BigElly12 we had to buy them at the first BX run. If you already have them you should be okay. Make sure it’s black though so it doesn’t stand out.
