    Awesome product. Every drone should have it by default.

    Rick, I've 3d printed a set of land gear/ landing skids for my Mavic Mini. Snap into place, and They work like a charm doesn't interfere with flying and about 8g of added weight.

    Hi Rick - I just purchased these. While the quality is great and it looks good the one bad thing is that when I go to fold the drone up the propellor holder will not snap on because of the extra space. I may not be explaining it well, but it's like trying to but a belt around a waist but you've put on some pounds and it will no longer fit. Does that make sense? Any suggestions? Thanks

    On amazon it says the Fenglintech landing gear it is for the mavic mini and doesn't mention the mini 2.
    Is it the same one that you put on your mini 2? Just checking before I order it.

    Can you confirm those legs fit into the mini 2 case you sell on your site? It seems pretty tight, and the extension legs do add a little bulk to the legs. I had that problem with the Mini 1, and I have to remove the front legs every time to fit it properly into the Sunnylife case you sell.

    Great video. I am kinda reluctant to purchase as have heard via Drone Club members that you have to sacrifice 3 mins battery time. Guess all down to preference.

    • @Dronevalley
      @Dronevalley  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      John, thanks for the post but these landing gear add very little weight to the drone and have no noticeable affect on aerodynamics so I'm not sure where that stat came from. I can assure you that you could strap a GoPro onto the top of the quad and it wouldn't reduce the flight time by near that amount. These work, and the most important thing is that they protect your camera and gimbal from damage. I hope that helps, Rick

    Great video's and love your enthusiastic reviews.
    One thing I have to mention about the landing gears.
    If i put them on the mini2, the original DJI propguard won't fit anymore and let the gimbal protector pops off. Is this correct or is there something i can change?
    Greetings from the Netherlands.

  • @GrumpyOldManRC
    @GrumpyOldManRC 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Hey all! IF you can heat the strap on the prop storage holder just "slightly" and then stretch it just a tad, it will then snap just fine.
    It only needs just a tiny bit of stretching to work. I used a heat gun on a low setting and the strap got nowhere near hot enough that I couldn't touch it but it did stretch.

    Nice video and great presentation. You make a good argument for those add ons, but I opted for the sled design rather than the leg extensions. Makes the drone much easier to catch and your fingers are farther away from the props. Either system is just a snap on and great idea to help protect the drone. Thank you again for the informative video.

    A landing pad beats landing gear hands down.
    1. Adding gear to your MM2, increases its MOTM (maximum take-off mass) - and takes it out of the Open-A1 category (

    • @Dronevalley
      @Dronevalley  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Thanks for the post and I appreciate all of the details you added. I actually advocate for a landing pad and a set of landing gear. The reason is that even with a landing pad, the weight of most drones (Mini 2 as well) has them push down on the surface of the may and can still impede the motion of the gimbal and most nylon mats will also transfer the moisture. The Mini 2 weighs just about 243g with SD card and battery and this model of landing gear is 8g so it does put you over the limit but I also tell folks to register their quads either way since the cost in the U.S. is just $5 a year for all of the quads you fly. In other countries, the 250g is a bigger deal so always do what works best for you.

    • @Dronevalley
      @Dronevalley  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You have to give me a little time to respond, we have a ton of emails and comments to handle. The prop holder that comes with the kit is stiff plastic that will stretch a little with use and will fit fine on the drone as it wears. Initially it's a very tight fit but we've been using one on each of our Mini 2's and they work great.

    • @Dronevalley
      @Dronevalley  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Winfield, it does put it over the limit when installed. The drone weighs 238g initially (with battery and memory card) and the Landing Gear adds 8g. I register all of my quads so it's not a big deal for us and well worth the protection.

      Jim, the DJI strap is tight and over time it does loosen up. The PGY set, which is one of the ones we tested, is a little larger than the one we choose. Ours are still tight but you can fit the DJI strap around it.

    I just purchased this landing gear. The only thing I don't like about it is, with the landing gear on, it doesn't fit into my hard case and second the prop guard strap that came with the unit doesn't fit. First time seeing your video. Your an extremely fast talker!!!!

    • @Dronevalley
      @Dronevalley  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      We tested 4 different cases and it fit fine in all of them With some of the hard cases you might need to enlarge the foam cutout a bit but that's east with an Exacto knife. As for the strap, it does stretch a little over time and will eventually fit the drone with the landing gear attached as it works in. I hope that helps and thanks for the post.

    • @AA0Z
      @AA0Z 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sorry, I should of been more clear on my case. It's a PGYTech hard case. It's very tight with out the landing gear. If you are going to put anything else in the hood of that case, the drone doesn't fit. Not sure about your comment on stretching the straps. I'm sure it stretches some, but I'm short probably 1/4 to 3/8's of an inch. I'd be surprised if the rubber strap stretches that much over time. If it did, it would be unusable over time in the original configuration.

    How much does this reduce flight time???

  • @piee683
    @piee683 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    I'm getting these on amazon but I read afterwards someone mentioning that the strap for securing the blades won't fit around with these installed so I don't think I will use them if I have to take them on and off everytime

    • @jmcguire56
      @jmcguire56 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      That happened to me with the PGYTech landing gear.

    • @Dronevalley
      @Dronevalley  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You can leave them on and the strap will loosen a little over time since it's a plastic material. When I first started using the strap it was hard to put on and really tight. As I used it a little more it stretched and fits fine now with the landing gear on the quad. The PGY models are a little larger than these and I'm not sure they will fit with the stabilizer attached.

    Since the total weight of the drone with the landing gear is greater than 249g, you will need to register the drone. What a hassle. I'm not doing it. Just get a landing pad. Minimize additional weight added. Who ever made the legs should aim to make them less than 7 grams.

    • @Dronevalley
      @Dronevalley  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the post but it's really a "chicken or egg" scenario. Like I mentioned in the clip, we test literally 20 items a month and when we find something we like and use, I review it on the channel. Unlike other channels that like to show items that don't really work well and then tell you how bad they are, we only review gear we use and can recommend after we've tested it. So it's not that we decided to sell it and then did a glowing review, it's more that we tested it, use it, and think it's a necessary item. When we find something like this, we offer it on the site so you know you're buying from someone local and you're actually getting the item we reviewed. We'll also be here to help if you have questions or issues after you buy it. I hope that helps explain our process. Either way, its a great product to protect your camera and gimbal and I've been using on on the Mavic series since the original Mavic Pro. And I reviewed one for that quad 3 years ago that we liked. Rick
