@@SeanOzz Out of curiosity, are you Jewish by any chance (ethnically I mean) or is a grandparent of yours? Or is it South American on a grandparents side? You look very Sephardic (Iberian Jewish). Which is a type of Semitic. But can also be by way of the Ummayad caliphate in Spain that may have entered your country via South America.
Make sure you are inaccessible to law enforcement, they love to harass people for losing "line of sight" - so just fly from within the back of a truck with a polymer canopy, or a van with a moon roof option and the moon roof replaced with a plastic panel. Better yet fly from your back yard. And never take a direct route home. The ultimate way is to use a signal repeater, so you transmit at low power to it, but it repeats your signal at a much higher power. You can drop the repeater on a tall building nearby with your drone before you go fly.

By the way, flying at a high elevation can actually reduce your battery life because it takes more power to fly in the lower air pressure
That is correct.
But isn’t the difference to small to affect the drone? If you go to the max altitude legally allowed, if you ever have to force a landing, you will have more time to land your drone safely since it will automatically start to descend.
@@Jeagletboard surprisingly no, if you look up a drone's specifications you'll see that there's a maximum altitude it's physically possible for it to fly to. Eventually the air is too thin to fly with the little props
@@Jeagletboard the lower density in the air means that the blades have to spin faster to create the necessary lift, until we reach the maximum altitude at which the drone while functioning at maximum power can’t achieve the lift necessary to continue climbing

@@SeanOzz I sure did. My brother bought me a DJI Mini 2 for my 60th birthday last week and I'm doing some test flights from my back garden. I've taken it up to 100ft so far and am impressed with its performance.
It really is a very capable little drone specially, for the cost.

I have had a thought on these range tests. Some don’t make it back because of battery. Well looking at the shape of the drone it occurred to me that the drone may actually more streamlined in reverse, and maybe it could go further, easier going backwards. Just as flying sideways must create the most drag. Perhaps a test for this may assist those drone pilots who seem doomed on the way back, maybe it could save the day. A test showing a range test in reverse vs forward may establish an important drone action to perform on returns.
Interesting theory.
When you say “no signal breakup”, you also have to account that you are flying over a lake with no trees or obstructions in the way to affect the signal.

Hi - I got the mavic 3 mini pro. Saw some whales yesterday and flew out 5km to sea. I (my point of launch) was at about 125m elevation above sea. Took footage of a whale and her calf at height of -100m (ie about 25m above sea level) 5 km out. Beautiful footage! Picture was breaking up for fraction of a second every now and then but overall great. Flew over the whales about 8 minutes and returned to home. For the americans out there this is about 16,000 ft and the height above sea is about 75 ft (when above whales). My height was about 400 ft above sea level.

I didn’t upgrade to the 3 intentionally. It’s more cash than I want for a drone that I use to take chances with.
The Avata has been awesome. Putting lots out on it and abs fpv vs Avata to come.
#stayedtilltheend - and was nervous when that battery warning came on! Glad you made it! Just got my DJI Mini 2 SE a few weeks ago and love it. This was a great video in a beautiful setting. I don't quite have the nerve to fly mine that far over water, but I've gained so much confidence in it just taking it up and parking it while I look around and get pics and vids - mostly of the sunset. My other drones are 'toys' I got years ago, but this DJI Mini 2 SE is serious, and DJI really knows how to inspire confidence in their products, so that we do feel comfortable taking them places and distances we never would with any other drone. Again, loved the video. Great job! Thanks.

No luck involved. Over 4 years of planning and saving to make it happen. Then this place took away my family so in a sense I am very unlucky.

i took my se about 7,000 feet away and turned away due to battery, not because of cutting out, it was quite clear and i had about 3-4 bars still, really impressive coming from a phantom 3

I have the same drone. It doesn't fly high or far like yours. There's limit of the altitude and distance from the DJI factory setting. How do you fly overriding the limit?
Are you in the USA? if so, you just open the settings and slide the slider to the settings you need for your environment.

I live in small town of PA, no airport. military base or power plant etc. On my phone, I went safety tab and could change the max altitude and distance, I could fly far till a week ago, not now. Somebody said that I should log off then log in my phone. I will try this. Hope this works. Thanks.

The ocusync 2.0 is a great thing to have on these inexpensive drones, it really does let you fly almost anywhere without the fear of losing connection

Howdy Sean. Wow, this distance test was outstanding. The transmission strength of the Mini 2 was exceptional. I bought the Mini 2 last Christmas for my Son. It is his first drone, and he loves it. Dang, this little bird does a better job than I previously thought. Thanks for this distance test over beautiful Lake Dillion! I can't wait to see your flights with the new Avata! Linda bought me the Autel Lite+ premium bundle after I mentioned it was on sale with a $370 discount. I'm waiting for a tablet holder for my iPad Mini 5 and DoBo's Tripltek 8 bracket. END!

Very cool but yea sweating bullets when the alarm goes off! It gives me goosebumps and anxiety! I have lost two mini 2s and have a third! I started on Traxxas aton which I went through 6. They are fast and you have to keep control at all times! They were unfortunately discontinued!

Nail biter! Need to test which gets you further. Normal or sport mode. I’d bet on sports mode. Just tilts more and faster right? Or does it use higher rpm’s in sports mode?
More battery in sports last drone I tested went further in normal.

I have the same drone iv had it for about a week and can only get it to go 1500 ft before the video starts lagging and I get 2-3 yellow bars on RC signal range. I live in a woodsy area with tall trees and hills, so could that be causing such low signal range? Is my drone defective? I feel like that's very low distance regardless. Any feedback is appreciated

If u want it mainly for follow mode look into the skydio 2. Best on market for that. Search my channel name and skydio 2. I have lots of videos on it.

Works same with controller as a dji but signal isn’t as strong so can’t fly as far. I have distance test videos from ages ago showing it.
I’ve never owned a drone. I’d like to buy one. I was looking at the mini but you’re showing in this video the mini 2. My two concerns, are they Bluetooth or Wi-Fi? And the other is I don’t want to spend a lot of money on my first drown. What would you recommend the mine or the mini 2? I would like to have the distance like you’re having or close to it. Thanks.

Strong signal means close by its strong. It’s not related to battery length.

That was awesome My Mini 1 would never make it that far I haven’t been able to fly the last couple of months cause it has been so windy here never had that problem being so windy for that long plus with working and My Daughters activities every time I have a chance it’s to windy still didn’t get a chance to upgrade to the air 2 yet but hopefully soon keep up the good work.also love Your art work and tattoos

I got the mini 2 as well and in recent update the drone will only go to 200 ft and out about the same. I can't seem to set it with the slider in 3dots, right corner safety setings slider bars! what's up with that? Thanks for help!
That’s weird, so even in the settings, it won’t allow you to change the distance anymore?
@@SeanOzz yup, correct, you mean settings, safety?. First I thought TC might have been behind it to keep unlicensed drone flyers within line of sight rules but then I think I might have it solved hopefully though I'm waiting for fine day to go. right now rain and fog! Thanks for helping.

@@SeanOzz I suspect that has to do with the poor performance of lithium ion batteries in colder temperature. But your video gives me courage to be more adventurous with my Mini 2 in summer. I have pretty bad range anxiety. Never flew more than 8000 ft (round trip) at a time lol.
I live in Utah. Maybe I'll visit Heaton bay campground someday. The scenery is absolutely magnificent.

@@SeanOzz if we get snow it’s usually only an inch or two and it melts away pretty quick like within a few days normally every now and again we get a year when it stays around for a little while but we’re only 100 m above sea level in Manchester most of the snow is in the mountains in Scotland

Today I returned a Dji mini es with two motors not working. New in box faulty. Got a replacement and same problem. I live a hour out of town now having to returned the product again.. all thanks to faulty motors. What's the point in buying these drones when I spent $40 + in gas to returned a defective product. Can not recommend this drones
That sucks. All the years I’ve been flying I’ve never heard of that issue. Especially two in a row. (Plenty of other issues over the years though).
