she wrote “listen before i go” based on when she was sitting in a hotel room and thought of jumping out the window because it was a high leveled room. she thought of her mom and gladly didn’t hurt herself. it’s so sad. she says she’s better now :)

I feel like this album was a total flex on their part. A statement that these kids (Billie was 16-17 and Finneas was 20-21) are the real deal. Effing epic debut. Loved your take.
Loved watching you experience this for the first time on stream. Great music, great vibes. Album of 2019. Such a fresh and groundbreaking sound for the pop scene at the time. Billie and Finneas deserve all the accolades that came with this album. Super impressive especially for their age.
What you said at the end about no one else producing Billie- I just saw an interview where Finneas said he would never let another producer near her. “Mine!”

The synth in “All The Good Girls Go To Hell” is pure west coast SoCal synth. I LOVED it
8, ilomilo, when the party’s over, and you should see me in a crown are my faves of the album.
Ilomilo makes me get entranced and completely hypnotized.
also oddly enough, my FAVORITE part of the album is her saying “put your lips on my skin and you might ignite it” in My Strange Addiction. The flow, the instrumental, everything about that part just gives me MAJOR vibes

This is probably my favorite album. I love it so much, that I got a record player just so I could get this on vinyl. It is my only vinyl and I’ve put it on once. “Listen before i go” is my favorite due to the emotional connection I feel with it. She is a goddess!
Finneas is a rad audio engineer. He makes some interesting choices in his mixes and I love it. For instance in bad guy, he used a freaking traffic crossing sound as the hi hat in the chorus. He also just knows how to create a massive-sounding mix.
This album is dope, glad third finally broke into it. 38 year old man that became a billie fan around 2 years ago when I heard you should see me in a crown then dove deeper into the catalog
Honestly I do agree you are the goat at breaking down lyrics because you introduce an entirely new perspective on how to view the song itself

For how blown away by the vocals, lyrics and production, you need to see Billies visuals to these tracks. She writes and stars in them and now she is directing all of them. Incredible talent all around!!

8 was wrote in the perspective of someone she hurt and it was originally called 7 and was the 7th song but she moved it up to 8 when moving around songs
I personally think that they balance each other no one is better then the other, don’t get me wrong I’ve heard Finneas’s music and he’s fantastic and Billie sounds fantastic doing acoustic, I just think they compliment each other beautifully in her albums.

I like to view the last three songs as a short, sad story. Listen, before I go...I love you. Goodbye. Listen is her committing suicide, I love you is her remembering the incident that pushed her over the edge, and Goodbye is her life flashing before her eyes as she dies in the ambulance that comes at the end of Listen.
There’s a theory that most of this album was about XXXTentacion… she was really close with him and he passed the year before this album came out.. you can find multiple videos of her live concerts paying tribute to him

Yes!! Bury a Friend is the best song. As much as there are other songs that I love and listen to more, bury a friend is still the best song. I think in terms of my FAVOURITE Billie songs, bury a friend is in my top ten songs, but in terms of her BEST songs, bury a friend is number one.

I mean, maybe the music itself isn't your style ? I love Billie but I'm way more of a rock fan that of what she serves, so I often just listen once to her songs and then I find rock/metal covers. You might wanna try that, in your favorite music genre, you know ?
