I feel like it shouldn't have to be just the cheesy pokemon likes(kind of like you've done the monster name videos for other franchises), but I do think there are some decisions to make about what you'd stream. Examples: are you going to avoid Rom hacks/fan games for the dmca potential? Side note, I've seen more and more youtubers referencing you and Arlo for the research they've done on topics and generally other videos. I'm really happy to see it. Wish you the best
I would totally be down to watch you stream. I already watch a M/W/F night stream, but even if it overlaps I can pop between the two of you. As for games, I think just about anything will do. I think a lot of streaming is getting to know the streamer and what the streamer likes
Definitely interested in watching streams, and I like the idea of late afternoon/early evening sometime during the week or early afternoon on a weekend day, since that's when I could watch live. But that's more me just sounding off, I guess, since I don't watch a lot of streamers so... I don't know what are "better" times, y'know?
I follow a streamer that regularly plays 5 games each day he streams. Sometimes more, sometimes less. I myself have had days i go between 10 games a day not sure what I feel like playing
Granted, a lot of these seek and find "games" are really just levels sold individually. 50 cents per level, new level added every week, but sold as a "new game." they take a few minutes to finish. When I get really into them I can easily complete 20+ in an hour. Also my wife and I love taking turns playing 30 minute indie horror games.
Yeah but like... Pokemon almost exclusively, lol. I am thinking of branching out again this year though, the recent Mario video was a lot of fun and did well!
@@Gnoggin Honestly would love to see this.... Like obviously I love the Pokemon stuff BUT if there's even like a "dry period" can do other types of things lol

It's definitely bot accounts being the ones tanking the avarages and medians. There simply can't be that many people that play one specific game no matter what.
Lockstin has always been secretly the biggest gamer of us all and we didnt even know. And not even all monster catchers for videos, game genre is all over the place.
You have to remember that median isn't the same as the mean. The median is going to be VASTLY lower than the average "gamer," just because of how many people have steam accounts but have never bought games, people who generally only play Nintendo games, but have a steam for a couple games they can't play on Switch. They're going to massively outnumber regular PC gamers
I'm not sure how exactly they calculate this data but considering there are probably millions of steam accounts that are/were never used or that are only used for smurfing it's not really surprising that the median is that low
I don’t play on steam but I have a steam account I use just to gift games to my friends. I imagine there’s thousands who do that as well, especially parents.
I mostly use Steam for emulators (on account of Windows's legendarily awful controller support), not that I don't use it for other stuff quite a bit but I imagine there are some who do so nigh exclusively.
Placid plastic duck simulator is "just a glorified screensaver"? Do you know all the strange stuff that occurs in the game? All the secrets that you can uncover? Honestly I've been waiting for someone to do a deep dive into the lore of the game cause it's so weird...
Oh Lockstin! There's this game called Creatures of Aether on Steam and mobile phone that's a spin-off of a indie fighting game series known as Rivals of Aether. The developer has been on record saying that their characters were originally meant to invoke a similar feel to Pokemon and the card game is filled with elemental critters. While the game and series itself aren't really Pokemon-likes, I do think they'd be interesting to cover while Rivals of Aether 2, the latest game in the series, is relevant right now.
6:15 personally this acc is for my pokemon obsession so streaming monster collector games would definitely be a good addition to the channel imo. Maybe stream on twitch soon?
Lockstin is actually flexing on us. None of us are gamers like him. 😆 Also yes I'd love to watch you stream! I wouldn't be able to catch all of them but that would be neat!
oh boy Lockstin branching out again this year and planning on giving streaming another shot. I so would be down to hangout on the streams whenever they startup again for sure. It would be fun if ya did a bit of fun indie titles that might catch my interest on adding to my backlog of course. Since I don't do much long form gaming these days.
Question, if you're interested in more stuff with cats! Have you heard of Nine Sols? It's an indie game from Red Candle Games (a studio in Taiwan behind Detention and Devotion). It's very intertwined with culture and contains lots of references to mythology and history with cyberpunk mixed in.
I thought you'd be talking about games by Quiet River like "qop" and "ZUP!". Out of 2k achievements in all qop games, qop 3 has about 1,200 of them. ZUP! has even more A total of 20k+ achievements across all 18 of its games. ZUP! 7 & ZUP X have under 3k each but there are more around 2k and 1k It's the most extreme example of this I know of
I'm an indie game developer and according to my switch in year review I had 460 hours with 56 games, that's not counting steam. Barely anything in comparison. But really, bonus cool points for the shout out to the small indie games, that's really appreciated as someone working in that market.

Glad to see my fellow FF14 players in the comments! Lockstin will probably tell you that anytime he sees me playing a game on Discord, it's usually FF14. XD I am extremely behind on the relics. LOL I was so excited for the Hildabrand relics in Endwalker, and I never managed to get around to it. One of these days I will finally do it. I was super into Bozja back in Shadowbringers though! I managed to get three Bozja relics. Dark Knight, Warrior, and Red Mage. I don't know why I found Bozja to be so much fun, but I loved it. I also really need to try getting some of the Heavensward relics again sometime. I still remember doing the Zodiac relics when they were new though....... that was awful. XD
its really fun to see someones steam recap, to see what kinda games they played outside the ones they talked about in videos etc. if you do pick up streaming, i hope you have lots of fun with it :D

I have like 2 games on Steam because i only got it for the tabletop simulator for my groups online, and lots of people will only use it for pretty specific stuff
this was so cool to know. with you being a poketuber i expected your gaming to go from video to video, but definitely that many games. i love your personality so i would very much enjoy watching you stream
Omg i would love it if you streamed, you have comfort games i have comfort TH-camrs and you are one of my most 'safe' i would try (i live in the uk) to vatch your streams but if you uploaded vods i would watch them all day.
There is a lot of dead accounts, bot accounts, people who only play Dota 2, CS, or a singular MMO, some people only play with friends every couple months, and probably something else that creates low numbers that i forgot about.
Did not expect to see Bleed 2 in this video! Super cool seeing my favorite game pop up on the list. Loads of ways to play and a lot of unique changes per character, even. Just enjoyed a bit of the online co-op beta yesterday. 😅 Also I’m not sure if they’re the same devs, but the “_____ Full of Cats” (castle, tower, etc) games are such a good chill time! Sometimes even having unexpected stories or wacky gameplay elements to them.
I’d be very happy to see your form of humor and analysis applied to more games! Streams sound fun, and even videos. No creature collecting even needed.
One thing to remember about the median is that you're taking into account all the hundreds of thousands of inactive accounts and accounts that only play one game. This brings the median down by quite a large amount that it is not actually accurate of what the average real gamer plays. However, thats still an insanely high number you got there
Coincidentally, my Achievements Earned was also hilariously past the norm, but because of a DIFFERENT three-letter word: ZUP. The 100 Cats games might give an achievement per cat, but the Zup series of get-the-ball-to-the-goal-by-blowing-up-boxes games awards like twenty per 10-second level.
The streak median is not surprising in the slightest because steam does a reset of servers every Tuesday and thus all automated bots go offline and since most hosters keep them em offline for a day or two after for whatever reason they can never be able to reach a streak more than 6 days
I would love to watch you do some streaming, Lockstin! It sounds like great fun, no matter what you play. Ape Escape is a creature collector, you could play that on stream, haha.
He demonstrated that cat game, which took 3 whole minutes to do. There's a lot of short experiences out there. Or it's the games you start and don't complete, but you did play a bit of it, so it counts.
I also binged find the cats games this year for something quick and cozy while I was stressing out about moving house. The Devcat games are lovely and well worth it.
I played one game if we don't count logging into a second game specifically to get a black friday deal on a subscription. I have played ARK: Survival Evolved for 19,276.8 hours. There are a total of 14 games I personally own, (And an additional ten titles that include some my partner played on my account a long time ago). Of the titles I personally bought, six of them I've never played but technically installed (And uninstalled later since I wasn't playing them at the time). (These titles include Draconia, Enshrouded, The Long Drive, Nightingale, Palworld). But of the games I've really put time into, I've almost gotten all achievements on all of them outside of ones that have things like PvP tournament related ones which I don't count for myself. I've had a blast customizing my ARK worlds though, the base game kinda not great but I've got so many mods and world changing things on my server that its like a whole other game LOL.
Thank you for have given us this insight. That number did give me anxiety just imagining how many games you were playing and how much time you spent on Steam. No really, thank you. ✨
I actually made the game on screen at 6:40, but the thing in this video that made me happiest was the Dicefolk acknowledgement. That game is incredible! Also, if you do stream other monster-tamers, I know an absolute ton since Abomi Nation will be crossing over with several in the sequel game. I noticed Alekon in your library and it is a complete hidden gem. I think you'll be really surprised by it!
God, I would LOVE any form of Monster Sanctuary content from you! A names explained video or some form of review; ANYTHING! It's such a charming game with a great, compelling story and the battle mechanics allow for a lot more strategy than at first glance! Please give it a shot! 😁
@morgancrabtree6248 same. I think I get most of it, but I know Lockstin would go way more in-depth than I care to. It's literally my favorite game of all time and would love to learn more about it
Lockstin you can feel confident calling these 100 cats games a "guilty pleasure" because their sheer number and tantalizing availability tends to snuff out indie devs on the new releases tab. I think there's a video about it on the channel "two left thumbs" but I might be wrong. There bound to be a video by somebody if you look it up.
If you’re looking to do indie creature collector games Beastieball is a relatively recent release that’s super cute! Would defo wanna catch those streams!
It's been said before but I'm saying it again: Casette Beasts! Probably my favorite creature collector I've played ever! Though it sounds like I gotta check out this Dicefolk game too...
Another thing to consider for the steam median number are people who ONLY play video games on consoles like the switch, Xbox and Playstation. Have a steam account and barely use it despite having thousands of hours on my switch games.
I believe there is a huge majority of people with busy lives only using steam to play the occasional 1-2 game every now and then. Maybe using a different launcher like epic games or console like PS or xbox. There’s also people who only use steam to play that 1 co-op game their friend finally convinced them to try with them. So many other hobbies other people indulge in, so that one time they use steam brings the average down
Please note the median is not the same as the mean. Mean would be adding all the numbers and dividing by how many numbers there are total. Median however is the half way point between all the numbers. Example if you had a set of 5 numbers being 1 1 4 4 40 the mean would be 54/5=10.8 however the median would be 4 since that’s the number in the middle of the set. And this is all different from mode the most commonly occurring number(s) (1 & 4). The reason for not using the mean is because outliers (like 40 in the set) can massively drag the mean up, causing the numbers to seem higher than they actually are. While the median is literally the half way point in the set, 50% of users are below the median, 50% above, and if steam had an odd number of users when the number was calculated there’s one user perfectly in the middle.
The Steam median is always around 4-5, though considering before I built my own PC I generally played maybe 5 games on my laptop, I'm sure a lot of people are in the same boat. For me this year I got 207 achievements from 25 games, though a good chunk of those are probably from Vampire Survivors I picked up during the Winter Sale recently. I try to play a mix of high profile games and indie titles, though this past year money's been tighter so the majority of the games I played were either cheaper or free.
What Days/Times to stream cheesy Pokemon-likes? I'm definitely going to, but all I know is that it's a goal.
I feel like it shouldn't have to be just the cheesy pokemon likes(kind of like you've done the monster name videos for other franchises), but I do think there are some decisions to make about what you'd stream. Examples: are you going to avoid Rom hacks/fan games for the dmca potential?

I would totally be down to watch you stream. I already watch a M/W/F night stream, but even if it overlaps I can pop between the two of you.
As for games, I think just about anything will do. I think a lot of streaming is getting to know the streamer and what the streamer likes
Definitely interested in watching streams, and I like the idea of late afternoon/early evening sometime during the week or early afternoon on a weekend day, since that's when I could watch live. But that's more me just sounding off, I guess, since I don't watch a lot of streamers so... I don't know what are "better" times, y'know?
I mean, any time, esp if vods will be available!! Also what platform?
If you have any more recommendations for safe games for when you're feeling sad, I'm all ears!
"I can't be that much of an outlier"
Lockstin
544 games in a year. That's around a game and a half each and every day.
That's what caught my attention actually. Achievements are okay, but the number of games played is kind of insane
I follow a streamer that regularly plays 5 games each day he streams. Sometimes more, sometimes less. I myself have had days i go between 10 games a day not sure what I feel like playing

I remember that stream session you did with Josh for Let's Go years back, it was a fun time.
Calling that cat game a facebook tier game feels like an insult to facebook games 🤣
It's not a creature collector, but I would love to watch you stream Hades. Even if you don't I highly recommend it if you haven't played it
Yes! Also if he does play it I'd love to hear him talk about all of the mythology.
@morgancrabtree6248 same. I think I get most of it, but I know Lockstin would go way more in-depth than I care to. It's literally my favorite game of all time and would love to learn more about it
"they are my safe food for when i'm feeling sad"
I 100% relate to this! my safe food games are picross
Happy New Year.
This went from talking about steams median to a good list of game recommendations
Any time I can get more content bro, I'll take it. Stream anything and everything man!!!!!
I had no idea Steam had their own “year wrapped” thing but seeing it get skewed that easily is hilarious.
545 is genuinely absurd
My total game count is 210 and 80% are free idle/clicker games that I dont play anymore. Seeing someone played 500+ is crazy
Id love to see you stream
I’d love to see you stream so games!
Saw UNSIGHTED in your library right there at the end. 10000/10 game!
I think it would be cool. New games, games youre passionate about, community interactions.
Geez and I thought my 748 achievements and 98 games were big numbers; good work!
“For when i’m sad” the way i went “oh…aw hun…” 😂
I try to play a mix of high profile games and indie titles, though this past year money's been tighter so the majority of the games I played were either cheaper or free.
haven't seen stat padding like this since the old 360 arcade days.
I would definitely watch some creature collecting streams for sure
You could stream Pokémon, survival games, or others! I’d be down to watch!
i cannot believe i got the reference to "i can only count to four"
