pricing has to be the #1 reason. so many Mustang owners mention that they themselves couldn’t afford to re-buy their same trim level in the current year.
So true. Here in Canada, to buy the same trim level and have it optioned similarly, it would cost around $73000 after tax. Mine's not even a premium GT.
My dealership offered an upgrade, extra 40 bucks per month payment, but downgraded interior, I have a 401a, they were trying to sell me the 200a, which is crazy
@@Red5oh the only upgrade in store for me are better performance parts as the stock equipment wears. if anything unfortunate were to happen to my current s550, i would replace it with a 2023 Mach1.
When the S650 was announced I quickly bought a late S550, because I don't want the tablet. I want the hardware buttons. Also I like the design of the S550 more. But if is mostly the tablet.
Same here... even before production. All i needed to see was pictures of the dash(think Lincoln Corsair) and the rear end(think Hyundi) Front end looks pretty good.. I first thought CAMARO.. BUT got to liking it. OVERALL IT IS UGLY. That's why I bought a 2022, inJan. 2023 there were no 23's on the lots... on my diff from 22 to 23 was $100 .. no option or looks change. So I wasn't about to wait!!!
The tablet and the locked ecu. And the fact it isn't even an improvement if anything it's a step back yet prices are higher? Make it make sense man make it make sense. And people wonder why they have fell off sales wise.
I miss when I bought my first and only 90 model foxx off the lot. I graduated in 1987 and my Dad suprised me with a brand new Trans AM that was a white t-top with red interior. I loved that car but in the quarter mile the mustang guys would always put a minimum of 4 lengths on me and some would put as many as 6 or 7. Top end though I gave most of them all they wanted. Anyway in 1990 I wanted to get something else and I was working offshore for Pennzoil so money was good. I seen a grey/silver 5.0 that I couldn’t take my eyes off of. Long story short I came home in my new titanium 5.0 with the premium package and picked up a friend to go back out there to drive the Trans AM home for me. The total price for the mustang was 13,500 dollars , tax, title , dealership fees etc. That’s what I miss about mustangs the most.
P.S. That Trans AM went a little over 500,000 miles when the last guy that bought it just pulled it out. He lived about 3 miles from me and thought I would want to see what he thought was the coolest thing. Instead, he ruined it. The motor didn’t even set in the car correctly. It was sitting crooked in the engine bay. Now it’s sitting out in a field where it’s been for almost 30 years burned to the ground.
I bought a 2019 mustang GT premium with the 401a package and ten speed for 31k back in November. Had 31k miles when I bought it. There’s still good deals out there. I’d never buy a new car. 2-3 years from now it’ll be much cheaper to buy a 2024 GT.
@CahtzHD I been waiting 2-3 years to get a good deal kn a 2019-2023 but now I saw the 2024 and nkw think I'll have to wait another 2-3 years for the 2024 😂
The national rate of inflation from pandemic was 10%. Dealers and manufactures marked cars up 20-40%. That is borderline criminal and educated consumers wont put up with it. Cars will sit. However people who are finacially irrespnsible have no problem purchasing cars at 20% +financing but they are now out of the market and cars being repoed
We all like the fact that Ford kept the V8, manual mustang. Ballsy and awesome but if you build it like dog crap and sell it like diamonds the villagers will not rejoice…
Ppl need to stop giving them a pass simply because they still make a v8 manual. They didn't make it different enough from an s550 it rides on an s550 chassis and styling wise the only things that are significant are uglier and the tablets are ugly and it's locked down. Stock for stock they're not even faster and they have worse potential.
@@ltsAnthonyYou sound like a trust fund baby. Plenty of people work plenty hard, but since you were born yesterday, you'll find that life is way more complicated than "work hard."
Another reason they might not be selling is car insurance has doubled in the last couple of years. I was looking to buy a new gt until i got a insurance quote and decided not to buy.
same here it's outrageous ..and I have a good driving record... I just bought a corolla 😂..I need to save on gas anyways..it came down to what I need and what I want and the need won
I honestly think these car companies purposely push these prices up just to see what the absolute highest price they will pay before it starts hurting sales, then adjust if needed.
100%. Profit is what motivates a company and if people will pay then they charge that. Same with dealer markup if people stopped paying the mark ups then dealers will have no choice but to drop the mark ups
"The secrets out!" The economy is a dumpster fire, gasoline cost is not coming down anytime soon, the employment numbers in the US are in the dirt, many people are struggling. All that said, i genuinely think its great that there are still people in the world that are fortunate enough to be completely oblivious to reality. "It sure is cloudy in the kitchen." Those arent clouds, thats smoke, your house is burning down around you.
Mustang gt in the 35k range base is a home run. Mustang gt at like 50k is a tough sell. I’m a mustang guy but there are a lot of choices for that money, I.e M240i, Z, supra, g70.
I wanted a GT California Special Convertible and the new 24's were going for around 70K. So, I waited and looked around for a s550 GT/CS and all the sudden a 2021 GT/CS white, convertible with only 6,400 miles showed up for 39K and it has all the goodies and a 6 speed, and I love my new/used Mustang. To me it's new, not a mark on it ... an old guy had it and he passed away.
The new Mustang may look good but the all digital cluster screen is something that I’m NOT interested in purchasing. I want the option of real gauges for a cluster. These screens have a tendency to wear out faster and Ford will stop making replacements at some point so I just do not want the headaches with that.
Not only that but it will be costly to repair. And since everything is controlled by it like for syncnscreen you can’t just not repair it or you’ll lose all the controls
Considering the change to the s650 wasn't really that big.. the inability to tune them is the nail in the coffin. Everything else is kinda wish wash, subject to change year to year, but until tuners can do their thing, these things will never be interesting.
Yeah even without the fact there isn’t much change compared to s550 is what’s holding most buyers back. If they own s550 they aren’t tempted to upgrade. If they don’t then they can get s550 and save money and tune it too
I think it all is on the economy. The economy drove the prices up on the cars and the interest rates were driven up. It is not just Mustangs. It's food, houses, etc... The dealerships putting ADM on cars is the icing on the cake. I'd love to have a S650 based car, but now isn't the time to buy much of anything, let alone a Mustang.
I inquired about a Dark Horse recently and was told that every dealer has an allotment of these and I could get on a list for one at a premium price, I told the salesman that I would wait until they had them available for a discount price and he laughed at me. I wonder who’s laughing now.
I agree. I sold my 21 GT in 23 and purchased a 24 GT about a month ago. It's a great car, but so was my 21. Performance wise, I honestly can't tell the difference. It handles better but my 24 has the PP and my 21 didn't 🤷🏾♂️
I have always wanted a Mustang and I liked the screens way better in this model. I got a good discount and didn’t go crazy with a premium. I am loving it so far. The strut brace makes a huge difference.
If you find a dealership discounting 2024 Mustang GT’s by $10,000, I would highly recommend you purchase a few of them. The maximum amount any Ford dealership can discount a base mustang GT is $5000. That is just to get it off their lot. They will hit you with $1000 dealer fee to make up the lost thousand dollars on that discount. There are no backend incentives right now for the dealership. If for any reason you find a dealership knocking off $10,000, please let me know immediately.
Please post names and locations of “verified” dealerships that are discounting mustang GT‘s by $10,000. If you’re gonna talk the talk, walk the walk. Names please
In January this year I found in Houston the best Mustang S550 deal ever. $40k 2,389 miles... 2022 Ford Mustang GT Convertible, Performance Package, Active Exhaust, Black Stripes, red leather interior. (MSRP $64k) Wasn't even looking to change car, but I couldn't resist that dream car opportunity. My first Mustang btw.
I got a 22 CPO with 6k miles that was a garage queen with PP1, mag ride, recaro, active exhaust and more for 25k less than a 24 spec’d out the same. Is way too much money for a face change. And that newer front end doesn’t look as good. Gutted the charcoal filter stuff and add an H pipe and I’m making more power and torque that the 24. If you really want the look the headlights and tails are a direct swap
The only reason I want a Mustang is because Chevy stopped making the Camaro. But, my current Camaro is still pretty new, and the Mustang I would want is kind of pricey.
@@Jevonechy , I can relate. I’m considering saving up for a Dark Horse. If I option a GT premium the way I want, it’s the same price as a Dark Horse. I’d rather have that Tremmec 6 speed manual anyways. Hopefully Ford is still selling them in 2026.
@joehenry9546 yeah I've seen a couple of premiums that I like as well, but I'm just sold on the dark horse honestly. But best of luck to you ! I hope you're able to achieve your goals. I'm definitely going to be working hard to get my dream car . It's not easy, but it will definitely be worth it once we get it.
They kept the MT82 and 10R80. Both dog boxes. Both have had well documented failures. Should've went with Tremec manual in all V8 models standard, and a proven ZF or strong DCT auto. No point having 485hp mated to weak transmissions. Ford promised the world and delivered an atlas as usual.
If your a Cars/Coffee , Car Show, or even a Track guy there is a spot for every year Mustang because all years are pretty cool so the upgrade aspect isn’t the greatest, I wouldn’t go from my Mach 1 HP to a Dark Horse because the money difference is too much so you really need people that don’t currently own a Mustang to buy a 2024 to get the sales up , I don’t know anyone getting rid of their current Mustang for a 2024
You are absolutely right. A loaded 2024 S650 GT Premium was going to cost me $64,000 in August 2023. Instead I bought a 2023 Mach 1 for $57,000, about $7000 off sticker.
I want one but I’m waiting for prices to come down. Prices too high and people can’t afford cheese. Also, Fords quality has been slipping lately. People if spending money are gonna get the best for their money. Hence why I didn’t get a S650 yet and went and bought a new RAV4.
That’s not bad especially if you want s650. S550 is a good deal if you can get a discount otherwise year end discounts are good on s650 I’ve seen up to $7k off
I've had both S550 and now S650 . The S650 is worth every cent it's that good, great driving car looks way better, price were about the same . ''last call'' for dodge and chevy so they lost some too them
I have 18,000 miles on it. I am 6’3” And I can stretch my legs all the way out when driving.so that helps vs 550 I could not .I have the premium model with a355 rear gear fuel average is 22.2 per mile I ride alot of i95 in Florida witch is flat ground and I have no tract shocks witch helps with the ride. Rolling on 18”S with a little thicker tire for those long ride I make. I add a little E 85 and I'm good.
i agree. I had a 19 that got rear-ended by a semi. I just got an atlas blue base GT. It comes with alot more then i got on my mid optioned s550. Brembo 4 piston front brakes but they work great and much beefier 14 inch rotors front and rear and a larger caliper. Its got afaster steering rack and its more balanced then my 19 was from the factory. I also believe ford under rated these cars HP wise.
I bought a loaded 20' GT/CS with 10r80/active exhaust/B&O system new for 42k... few years later I have to pay nearly 60k for another GT/CS- no more leather seats, not tuneable, heavier=slower.....nah I'm keeping the s550.
No!, it's not the cost why it was not selling,. Their interior designer was in payroll of rival coompany. S650 dash sucks!, " tablets" was placed in dash like bill boards.😂. Place the s550 dash inside the s650 and it' s over. Can place a tablet with those graphics and tech in the middle and it' ll look fine. Cockpit is the problem of s650.
Issue was financing. This month they finally offered Ford Special financing. I agree totally as well with price. I had a Darkhorse was fantastic however with the economy unloaded her. Just picked up a base GT with active exhaust for 42k. The premium is 10 grand more and on the roads where I live the base GT is more than enough and now comes standard with front Brembro. Most of the dealers are adding frivolous dealer installed items to inflate the cost. The changes are not enough for someone who owns a well equipped s550. But I will say she is a Hell of a ride for those looking.
Yeah I can’t believe their special financing is 3.99 where it used to be 0% easily. Base is admittedly a better buy than most trims because it still packs great tech and keeps the V8 affordable
I got my S650 in September of 2023. So how about people like me who ordered when order banks opened in March and got their cars early. How is that effecting some of the 1st quarter sales numbers? Many people ordered them early since they were new body style and year model.
I got the s650 GT January 4th, paid under MSRP for it, have about 15,000 miles on it now. Initially just didn’t like the headlights, but they’ve grown on me. To me it’s the subtle touches that add up to the difference from the last gen. It feels like the right balance between modernization and that classic American v8. I really enjoy the screens but still got the warranty in case something happened to them so I definitely agree there should be some more actual buttons. 😂
@@Red5oh Yeah, and my buddy still has his ecoboost s550. I look online every now and then at prices and on average I got mine around 8-10,000 less than the others so far
Got my '24 GT Premium 401A package for $4,000 off sticker, however I think this is pretty typical. Purchased first week of May. I think it's a FANTASTIC car. I like the interior/exterior/tech updates much much more than the S550, which was beginning to become quite dated in my opinion.
Honestly at first I wanted a dark horse than I thought about the regular s650 GT and than eventually I started watching gt500 reviews for the years 2020-2022 and I felt as if that was a option I’d rather go for , I really like the s650 design and would absolutely love one but since a kid I dreamt of a gt500 and I’ve decided to go for that .. I was thinking of supercharging a s650 but decided I’ll just cop a 2021-2022 gt500 and tune it myself and go on from there just my take on it..
Yeah gt500 is definitely a better option compared to all the others you mentioned. If you can afford I’d go for it! It will hold the value a lot better as well
01 gt conv auto. here. i bought this in 2022 and am happy. I say 24's for $47k with manual tranny. think u could snag one for 40k maybe? i ll stick with what i have. keeps me out of the poor house
To make it comparable, what are the sales rates for the evs? They’re down 40%. F150 lightning ain’t selling. Demand is down. Everyone’s savings are depleted. Up next is recession!
EVs have big sales decline due to manufacturers not predicting the demand. Not everyone is ready for EV and those that could afford it already got got theirs
You can get about $8500 off here in OKC on all Mustangs, tons of them sitting. You can almost get the whipple package here and pay right at MSRP for the mustang with the discounts.
Dark horse in Australia can cost upto $140k with a few options ticked bit too much really. And we're still waiting for them to be released it's all pre orders for now
@Red5oh nope standard price they start at $115k add options it goes up fast! Carbon wheels are $20k option. Also they're only releasing 1000 of them here in the first year though we still havnt seen them yet haha
curious to see what the worldwide sales will do to those figures. All configurators were set online in February 2024 here in Europe. Ordered a Dark Horse, got a good deal on my 2015 GT, but yes pricing is definitely a topic. The 2015 GT was around €44-45k here (PP & Premium), the 2024 GT is starting at €60k (PP & Premium) and the Dark Horse at €70k . We don't really have the choice here between none PP or non Premium, probably for build purposes and how they have to adapt it to EU regulations.
@@Red5oh nope we got them MSRP as in the configurator. I got 1500 off mine because I know the dealer owners, but other than that most of the other buyers (Germans, Spaniards, French, etc.) ordered for MSRP.
It was the same thing when they went from 2017's to 18's too, the power went up slightly and so did the weight and the only real gain was they started putting the 10 speeds in them.. And people who know, Know the Gen 2's were better than the Gen 3's as far as looks and less headaches.. This is what the 2018 and up guy's do they minimize the 24's and the 17's to make themselves feel better about having a 20, 22, or 23..
The gen 3 was faster. The manual was quicker than gen 2 stock the 10 speed was alot quicker. They had way more power than gen 2 on the dyno the new car doesn't show any more on the dyno than gen 3 you're making excuses for the trash s650 and failing miserably. The gen 2 is just as good modified as gen 3 but stock for stock it's slower and makes less power. That's a very bad comparison.
The cost to upgrade from s550 to s650 doesn’t fit the minimal model changes made. I like the s650 a lot and the fact that ford continues the v8 makes me love the Mustang more and I want to support the v8 more than ever. Ford needs to reduce the prices 10-15% to help us help them and keep the v8 alive and well.
We bought a 23 GT last September, trading in our 2016 Eco. We had a friend buy a 24 GT and another bought a 24 Dark Horse. I was worried that I would regret my decision once I saw the 24s in person. I don't. The S650 looks like an updated S550, but not really that different. I don't like the S650 interior. It doesn't look like a Mustang. The Dark Horse looks better that the 24 GT but I wouldn't spend $25k more for one... I bought my 23 GT for $57k and our friend's Dark Horse was around $84k
Yeah s650 is good but it’s more of a refresh compared to s550. That’s why most people are keeping their S550 or getting S550 due to price for similar car like you
Good video. I have an SN95 and am thinking about getting a newer mustang, but I prefer the looks of the previous years compared to the 2024 so think I will go with like a 2018 or something.
I bought my s650 because I had ford dealerships try and sell me a silver 2019 400a package with 45,455 miles for $49,000. Another example I found a blue pp1 2019 400a package with the hardliner falling off and rims curbed up, and they wanted around the same price.
I drove a standard today, they told me to drive it like it was mine to feel the power and hear that mustang sound. Went 1 mile with the salesman, my 2018 GT is still better.
@normanbecker5096 The 18-20 gt is faster they went faster stock than s650s do and they can actually be modified. Ppl are crazy for buying these s650s the s550 is better by miles for the money spent.
Yeah most fans seems to think either it looks too similar from outside or that interior is too different. I have drive few S650s and have actually gotten used to the dash
@@Red5oh People expect to get what they pay for, especially with cars, and the fact this "Dark Horse" is only marginally better performance wise and carries an almost 20k price difference between the premium trim levels (which amounts to around 30%) is an insult. Stock GT's have been so underwhelming, and they could of really made an impact , and it's a missed oppertunity.
They have a ton of these on the lots in central Florida. They are priced way too high but most dealers are discounting them a few thousand and there is a finance incentive. Even with a discount they are very slow to sell. After owning a 2016 Mustang GT premium, I'm done with Mustang. I have a 2022 Camaro SS 1LE now and it cost less than the 2024 Mustang GT which is no where near as good.
Yes! Mustang has always been a value proposition once you start charging near C8 corvette and M4 money, it will result in less sales for obvious reasons
I have a 2015 S550 assembled on the first full day of production. I've taken that car autocrossing regularly and it's withstood the punishment. I'm keeping that car for a long, long time
Those sales numbers are actually pretty damn good! In 2023 We were not in a full recession. 2024, we are in a full recession/depression. Compare any other cars sales numbers, and you will see that these numbers are not bad at all. But the three reasons why the mustang is not selling better than it is is because of - recession/recession/recession! Ford will slow/stop production as to hold the value of the vehicle up! The S650 is a much better vehicle than the S550!!! it is sleeker/refined/more modern/and a much better drivers car! Just the way the vehicle is insulated as compared to before is worlds apart! And the interior is a proper interior for a vehicle of this price range. Anyone here stating they haven’t traded their S550 for the S650 for whatever reason is just because they cannot afford to upgrade.
Ford sold over 166,000 Mustangs in 2006. In fact the sales for the 05-09 model blows away any sales since. The fact is Ford ruined the look of the Mustang and on top of that they made them crazy expensive.
Those are definitely low numbers no matter how you put it. Yes improvements are good but they are minor aside from interior tech. It’s a performance car and people were hoping either more HP or tremec in regular GTs
@@Red5oh it’s all about price point! They did bump the horsepower up a tiny bit and improved the vehicle all around and you can still buy one for $41,000. And that’s with no factory incentives whatsoever. In this economy, it’s an expensive bargain not everyone can afford right now since we are in an economic depression.Lol.
We are not in a fucking depression come on. You don't even know what a depression is. The numbers aren't good the s650 is a joke only people who buy them are clout chasers soon as they get tired of no tuning they'll off them.
The interior looks like an s550 with a new dash and tablets glued to it. There's nothing special about the interior it isn't any better than a 2015 s550 premium. If anything it's worse because of the ugly screens.
Definitely not enough changes, doors and center console same, seats same, shifter exactly the same, just doesn’t make sense, and not to mention some dealers are still marking them up, especially the Darkhorse, insane
I love mustangs but with interest rates like they are and just the tag here in my state on a base 5.0. Is going.to cost you 2000.00 dollars. I agree with you and think that the prices are why they’re not selling.
This reminds me of sedans not selling in America. This is why almost all American sedans were discontinued at the start of this decade and now many non-American sedans are being discontinued for the American market too. The last American FWD sedan was the Chevy Malibu which was discontinued last month and due to the ever-decreasing demand for sedans here, no American automaker will probably invest in a new sedan ever again, let alone a FWD one, which became common in the early 1980s. The only upcoming American sedan we know is obviously the RWD Ford Mustang Mach-4 and while it would be sold here in America where sedans are losing popularity unlike China where they’re still in high demand, having only one option is better than nothing. The new Dodge Charger 4-door doesn’t count because it’s got a hatchback and is therefore no longer a true sedan. When the Mustang Mach-4 comes out, the real question is will it become as popular as the previous Charger? It would be the only option for Charger drivers to choose as a successor and also the best option above everything else for American police and taxi fleets for the V8 and EcoBoost, respectively as it would be the closest to the Crown Vic.
The mustang gt like the Nissan z and supra and m240i are niche cars that not alot of people will buy sadly. All great cars, just get the one you like the most !
I have 2019GT and now in Europe 2024GT costs 50% more which is crazy not to mention that awful interior. I will only change my 2019GT to S650 if after face lift it will be better in that interior and backlights, also price should drop.
I am the proud owner of two mustang GT a 04 and a 14 and I wanted the 2024 mustang GT and when I went to check them out all I could see was two silly looking tablets and a mustang GT that looks like the 2015 model year with no spoiler or hood scoop so the mustang have not changed in 10 years and they look cheaper so I am looking for a 2020 mustang GT to 2023 used or new and I may select another 2014
Yeah this s650 seems to be more of a refresh than full new generation they are advertising. I would look 2020-2021 GT. Much cheaper and almost the same car. They did get slight revision for 10 speed software for 2021 and model year for what it’s worth
I own 3 Mustangs. A 2014 S197, 2023 S550, and a 2024 S650. The price increase is justified because of all the new technology in the 2024 and it isn't as much as people make it out to be. Roughly about $2800 increase for the base Ecoboost and GT. If a $2800 increase is keeping you from buying a car you probably can't afford it anyway. And the biggest reason the 2024s arent selling as wellis because the locked ECU. If you can't tune the car a lot of car enthusiasts don't want it because upgrading and tuning is part of the Mustang car culture.
Agreed on tuning. But for pricing it’s because wages haven’t kept up. Everything is gone up it’s not just the car price. The insurance and gas related to your car has gone up and of course your other household expenses. However wages are still going up 3-4% for most individuals
@@Red5oh I don’t mind a screen in the center of the dash above the AC controls, however, I want real guages setback into the dash behind the steering wheel. The current setup is just lazy and out of place.
So you want this car without the ugly screens and actual ac buttons? Go buy a 15-17 s550 for half the price lol. It starts out slightly behind but has far more potential modified. They're essentially the same fn car.
I think it was dumb not offering the manual on the S550 New Edge Ecoboost (the 2024 Mustang). Some people who want the honor of being able to buy a brand new Mustang, but can not afford the GT may be manual lovers....not offering it on the ecoboost even though it sold under 10% is still wrong and will alienate some fans and push some Mustang fans to get something like a GR86 instead.
Yup 100% agree with you especially this generation is pretty similar to s550 so it’s not like it would’ve cost extra to add the manual on s550. It just allows the option to keep buyers in Mustang family rather going to competition
I dont like the headlights, taillights, and the black plastic they throw on the bumber when i get the dark horse version just looks like some guy from the ev section was in the wrong board room
Like the s650 in my opinion price and like the red mustang hear the face never really grew on me early s550 like mine I like, s650 in vapor blue is so sweet
@@panglingaowI don't think it's a matter of unlocking something you just flat out can't tune it outside Ford approved stuff and I don't see it changing.
I love my ‘22 with analog gauges. (I’m old). I hate the new dash, the rear deck lid/tail lights, and the price of the ‘24. I do love the new front end though.
Cost is #1. Then interest rates. I personally think the new body style is ugly. Too angular and chunky. Almost like they started trying to copy the camaro. I much prefer the sleek lines of the outgoing style..
@jacobnunn7923 well of course you own one. Your not gonna say it's a overpriced s550 . Same interior buttons same doors but with honda screens in the dash . Same gaps the s550 had . They obviously tweeked it . But they had to its a 10 years difference. Same thing with the dark horse. Used gt350 trans and parts and a gt500 block and up a little power . Nothing you couldn't do with a gen 3 gt
@jacobnunn7923 it rides on an s550 chassis the majority of the interior is almost identical outside the dash and tablets which most people including myself don't even like. It is literally a rehashed s550 with a locked ecu. Glad you feel good about your s550 2.0 lol ..keep lying to yourself.
A V8 is great. But who needs 465 horses for an everyday car. Do we race to work everyday? 350 horses is plenty. Sure the new Coyote is a kick but engine. But not everyone needs a ground rocket. The older 5.0 would be fine. Just a nice base Mustang with shiny rims would suffice for many. But by today's standards an Ecoboost fits the bill. 0-60 in 4.5+/- is very respectable. Especially in city driving. Especially when things go south as the do seem to do these days. The Ecoboost will get one out of a bad situation. The bad guys you see these days do have V8 Mustangs, but they don't run very well. Best to have a CCW coupled with an Ecoboost.
I agree no one needs a V8 as even the ecoboost is plenty fast. I came from an S197 GT with 300 hp and thought the same. Reality is that you get used to the power eventually and doesn't feel as exciting. I still enjoy my GT but of course I don't need that 460+ HP to have fun lol
Mustangs were affordable cars for the working man and women but now they are just outrageously price. They became unaffordable not just on price but the insurance companies as well ripping people off
#1: Price. #2: Ugly tablet dash #3: No manual for Ecoboost #4: Still looks like a Fusion Coupe. They need to go back to the S197 front end styling, the last gen to look like a late 60s pony car. Thats why the Challenger sold so well, it looked better than the last gen stang.
I personally just like the s550s better but that’s just me. Also I think the dark horse looks super cool but I’m not paying 70-85k for an NA mustang making 500 which is more like 450 or so to the wheels just because it “looks cooler”. That’s outrageous. I got my c7 zo6 built car for about that I just can’t justify it in my head. I wish they threw a SC on the dark horse that would’ve made it worth it for me
2025 Mustang Pricing Revealed! It’s Expensive!
th-cam.com/video/jnpktjpNVik/w-d-xo.htmlsi=5QTe3KlJg_TJ3jGi
pricing has to be the #1 reason. so many Mustang owners mention that they themselves couldn’t afford to re-buy their same trim level in the current year.
100%! My trim level is 8k more in msrp for a car that just hasn’t changed much. Do you plan to upgrade yours?
Definitely pricing. A base GT is nearly $45k MSRP before taxes! I paid $48k for my 2020 premium GT PP2 with every option.
When the S650 was announced I quickly bought a late S550, because I don't want the tablet. I want the hardware buttons. Also I like the design of the S550 more. But if is mostly the tablet.
Yeah and not to mention 15-20% price difference for property much the same car
yup. most new cars and trucks are ipads with wheels that will last 7 years then you junk it.
I miss the good ol days when you could get a used base gt with low mileage for around 25k
Right?! I remember getting 27k for brand new base GT with stick shift back in2016
I miss when I bought my first and only 90 model foxx off the lot.
P.S. That Trans AM went a little over
500,000 miles when the last guy that bought it just pulled it out.
Yeah when 2024 first rolled out I asked my dealer and they wanted $2k mark up. Now it’s 4-5k off
We all like the fact that Ford kept the V8, manual mustang. Ballsy and awesome but if you build it like dog crap and sell it like diamonds the villagers will not rejoice…
💯
Yeah I’m definitely happy the V8 still exists unlike the competition
@@Red5oh - it’s a huge saving grace for them. Now price it right and build it well and I’ll be in!
@@devnull128 yup! It’s a better problem to have than non V8 mustang lol

Another reason they might not be selling is car insurance has doubled in the last couple of years. I was looking to buy a new gt until i got a insurance quote and decided not to buy.
I didn’t realize until you said that lol. My premium has slowly gone up with over past 2 years without changes to drivers or cars
same here it's outrageous ..and I have a good driving record... I just bought a corolla 😂..I need to save on gas anyways..it came down to what I need and what I want and the need won
Uhhh it’s the same car but cost 25-40% more
Yeah that’s the real problem here
I honestly think these car companies purposely push these prices up just to see what the absolute highest price they will pay before it starts hurting sales, then adjust if needed.
100%. Profit is what motivates a company and if people will pay then they charge that. Same with dealer markup if people stopped paying the mark ups then dealers will have no choice but to drop the mark ups
2018 GT Premium owner - iPad dash 🤢 - Will be hanging on to my S550, a great car🤠🇺🇸
Yeah I personally don't mind the iPad dash having gotten extensive with 2 S650s but I see why it's not everyone's style
"The secrets out!" The economy is a dumpster fire, gasoline cost is not coming down anytime soon, the employment numbers in the US are in the dirt, many people are struggling. All that said, i genuinely think its great that there are still people in the world that are fortunate enough to be completely oblivious to reality.

bidenomics...the biden wants to get re-elected
Yeah this economy doesn’t help. Many people don’t have enough disposable income to be buying a sports car
Mustang gt in the 35k range base is a home run. Mustang gt at like 50k is a tough sell. I’m a mustang guy but there are a lot of choices for that money, I.e M240i, Z, supra, g70.
Yeah I tried to spec ou t my gt with same options I currently have and it would be almost $10k more!!
Type S, Type R, Corolla GR, scatpack, Audi S3 lol
I wanted a GT California Special Convertible and the new 24's were going for around 70K. So, I waited and looked around for a s550 GT/CS and all the sudden a 2021 GT/CS white, convertible with only 6,400 miles showed up for 39K and it has all the goodies and a 6 speed, and I love my new/used Mustang. To me it's new, not a mark on it ... an old guy had it and he passed away.
That’s pretty much brand new! Almost 30k off than new one for a relatively similar car. It’s a no brainer really
01 gt conv. saw new conv gt for 68k. u did great.
I ordered one in January. Delivered with a deep scratch this week. Sad because I can’t take delivery of a 50k+ car with that :(
I’m so sorry to hear that! I hope the dealer discounts it off or fixes it. I personally wouldn’t take the delivery unless it was a rare combo
@@Red5oh how did they handle it?
Considering the change to the s650 wasn't really that big.. the inability to tune them is the nail in the coffin. Everything else is kinda wish wash, subject to change year to year, but until tuners can do their thing, these things will never be interesting.
Yeah even without the fact there isn’t much change compared to s550 is what’s holding most buyers back. If they own s550 they aren’t tempted to upgrade. If they don’t then they can get s550 and save money and tune it too
@@Red5ohs550 is far better for the money. I don't think they're gonna be tunable other than Ford approved stuff.
I remember when they first launched my dealer wanted $2k mark up on GT but now it’s 4k. Off without haggling
I inquired about a Dark Horse recently and was told that every dealer has an allotment of these and I could get on a list for one at a premium price, I told the salesman that I would wait until they had them available for a discount price and he laughed at me. I wonder who’s laughing now.
You made the right choice! My local dealer wanted $2k over msrp and now they have it discounted to $5k off
I agree. I sold my 21 GT in 23 and purchased a 24 GT about a month ago. It's a great car, but so was my 21. Performance wise, I honestly can't tell the difference. It handles better but my 24 has the PP and my 21 didn't 🤷🏾♂️
Yeah if the deal is good it makes sense otherwise coming from 2018+ GT you won't notice much difference in terms of performance.
I got my 2024 last month, I had my eye on this particular car for months. The dealer was hurting to get rid of it and dropped it $7k below MSRP
Was it Ourisman Ford?
I have always wanted a Mustang and I liked the screens way better in this model. I got a good discount and didn’t go crazy with a premium. I am loving it so far. The strut brace makes a huge difference.
Congrats on the new Mustang! Enjoy the car and ignore the haters. It's still a great car its just pricing is an issue.
01 gt conv. took me seven years to buy a stang. enjoy your car.
I barely see 2024 mustangs around. Dealers are fully stocked on the lots. They are currently $7k to $10k off sticker.
Are those the basic models or on the GT's as well.

Congrats on to Mustang you’ll love it! It’s an absolute of a deal given the options on your car
The tablet of dash ruined my waiting list for getting the s650 and next month I will search for a s550 instead and looks better in my opinion.
Yeah used S550 is a much better deal for fraction of the cost compared to new s650
@Red5oh yes car prices are still crazy high Lol
Nice review. I’ll keep my S550 GT350R Heritage. Thanks for sharing.
That car is truly special!! I wouldn’t trade it for any s650
Yeah used cpo are great deals given 2024 isn’t much of an upgrade and you save a lot of money. You can also tune it if you want to go crazy with hp
The only reason I want a Mustang is because Chevy stopped making the Camaro. But, my current Camaro is still pretty new, and the Mustang I would want is kind of pricey.
Yeah I want Dark or the 2020 shelby cobra because dodge stop putting V8s in their cars. But both cars are too damn expensive for me at the moment
Yeah Mustang is a better daily car but Camaro is a better performing car especially with the 1LE package
Yeah ZF and Tremec would've been better. 10 speed isn't terrible but agree MT82 needs to go
It doesn't help that interest rates are through the roof.. unless you like paying 10%+ in interest
Exactly! Gone are the days of 0% financing. Car prices are up and interest rates as well
If your a Cars/Coffee , Car Show, or even a Track guy there is a spot for every year Mustang because all years are pretty cool so the upgrade aspect isn’t the greatest, I wouldn’t go from my Mach 1 HP to a Dark Horse because the money difference is too much so you really need people that don’t currently own a Mustang to buy a 2024 to get the sales up , I don’t know anyone getting rid of their current Mustang for a 2024
Yeah going from M1 to DH doesn’t make sense since cars are very similar. If I had early 2015-2017 model then upgrade would make sense
I have 1998 mustang gt and im keeping it
I don’t like the looks of the new one as much as the last one!
Yeah looks are subjective. The new one has grown on me but still prefer S550
Fully optioned premium gt’s are 60k-64k, the fully loaded convertible i optioned was 70k on the ford site 😮😮😮😮
Yea 2025 saw even more of a price increase!

Pay raises are not keeping up with inflation and hasn’t for 40 years
Facts!
You are absolutely right. A loaded 2024 S650 GT Premium was going to cost me $64,000 in August 2023. Instead I bought a 2023 Mach 1 for $57,000, about $7000 off sticker.
That Mach 1 is a much better deal and will holds its value better as well
New C8 vettes are now listed for roughly 10% off here in new england area.
Ford needs to atleast match 10% off to sell these things
Yeah especially with DH with mark ups around the same price. No wat in picking that over a c8
I want one but I’m waiting for prices to come down.
Prices too high and people can’t afford cheese.
Also, Fords quality has been slipping lately. People if spending money are gonna get the best for their money.
Hence why I didn’t get a S650 yet and went and bought a new RAV4.

I've had both S550 and now S650 . The S650 is worth every cent it's that good, great driving car looks way better, price were about the same . ''last call'' for dodge and chevy so they lost some too them

I have 18,000 miles on it. I am 6’3”
And I can stretch my legs all the way out when driving.so that helps vs 550 I could not .I have the premium model with a355 rear gear fuel average is 22.2 per mile
I ride alot of i95 in Florida witch is flat ground and I have no tract shocks witch helps with the ride. Rolling on 18”S with a little thicker tire for those long ride I make.
I add a little E 85 and I'm good.
Idk, it kinda looks like a Camaro sometimes. I do like the The black horse. Looks bit different.
Yes I agree on the looks, it ride a bit like the chevy, I think they were trying to pick up some camaro people also with having last call.
Yup it’s crazy how much more the s650 is. My s550 spec would be $12k more with s650. It’s crazy. I’m keeping my s550 as well for that very reason
Lol 😂 unfortunately that’s all the cars now with tablet design and taking away all the buttons
I agree with you. The TV screen dash violates every style trend for generations of Mustangs. Glad I bought a S550 just in time.
There's alot more wrong than the cockpit but I agree.
That’s a good point! Those aren’t factored in so I’d be curious to see what the yearly sales number look like once 2024 is being cycled out for 2025.
Yeah it’s not a bad car but price is an issue. If you got a good deal then it makes sense. Were you coming from S550 GT?

It was the same thing when they went from 2017's to 18's too, the power went up slightly and so did the weight and the only real gain was they started putting the 10 speeds in them.. And people who know, Know the Gen 2's were better than the Gen 3's as far as looks and less headaches.. This is what the 2018 and up guy's do they minimize the 24's and the 17's to make themselves feel better about having a 20, 22, or 23..
But at least that was a refresh this is a new generation where the difference should’ve been big enough to justify the increased cost
Also the 18 was a refreshed s550 this is supposedly an all new mustang sure don't look all new to me. It's a huge disappointment.
Yeah that’s exactly. It’s a good car but diff it to justify when s550 exists with fraction of the price
Yeah 2018 and up with Gen 3 coyote and 10 speed are a steal!
15-17 is better for the money imo and they do just as good boosted if not better.
I bought my s650 because I had ford dealerships try and sell me a silver 2019 400a package with 45,455 miles for $49,000. Another example I found a blue pp1 2019 400a package with the hardliner falling off and rims curbed up, and they wanted around the same price.
headliner*
Congrats on the S650! Yes I agree in your case it's a no brainer to get the new car with warranty for similar price
@@Red5oh Indeed as you said “no brainer”
@@Red5oh thank you
Does the s650gt a10 actually feel any slower than a stock s550 18-23 gt a10 to you?
No having driven both they feel more or less the same
I drove a standard today, they told me to drive it like it was mine to feel the power and hear that mustang sound. Went 1 mile with the salesman, my 2018 GT is still better.
@normanbecker5096 The 18-20 gt is faster they went faster stock than s650s do and they can actually be modified. Ppl are crazy for buying these s650s the s550 is better by miles for the money spent.
As a Mustang fan, I don’t like the look of the 2024 model. The headlights, the dash. No thank you.
Yeah most fans seems to think either it looks too similar from outside or that interior is too different. I have drive few S650s and have actually gotten used to the dash
I think the previous generation looked better 🙂↔️ and prices is also a problem for a lot of people
Prices and interest rates are a huge problem for new Mustang or I guess really any new car
Besides the economy, one of the huge reasons is the "Dark Horse" is what the GT SHOULD of been.
That would’ve sold so well. GT with 500 hp and some track capability
Yeah 1LE is in a league of its own. You need a dark horse or Mach 1 to compete but to your point prices are ridiculous on those trim levels
When you take the value component out of the mustang, accompanied by dealerships, not budging on price you’re going to get stagnant sales
Yes! Mustang has always been a value proposition once you start charging near C8 corvette and M4 money, it will result in less sales for obvious reasons
I have a 2015 S550 assembled on the first full day of production. I've taken that car autocrossing regularly and it's withstood the punishment. I'm keeping that car for a long, long time
Yeah mustangs generally are really reliable. Glad your car is holding up fine!
01 gt conv. those are great cars.
Very smart that is far better than an s650. It isn't far behind stock and has way better potential.
what is under the hood?
@@subaruamazon A stock 5.0 Coyote. No engine mods.
Yeah I found it strange when is sat that doors were exactly like my s550 lol. if you’re gonna keep the car similar then at least price it right
GT is actually up 13 percent in sales according to Ford. The Ecoboost is the model that is down.
Doesn't help that EB price has gone up perhaps rental lots aren't picking them up as much
I love mustangs but with interest rates like they are and just the tag here in my state on a base 5.0. Is going.to cost you 2000.00 dollars. I agree with you and think that the prices are why they’re not selling.
Yeah even the recently advertised special rate is 3.99 where that used to be a bad rate on a new car and you could get 0%
I could get the 2024 one, but i think it's not as nice looking. Especially the front headlights. I really like the three stripe design.
Yeah and the difference from S550 isn't enough either
Since Charger is gone which had a pretty good following due to RWD and V8 I feel like Mustang 4 door with the right design will sell like hotcakes!
I love the new body and interior but man the price is just put of range for 55-60k I can get an amg etc. it makes nos sense
Yeah even if I was to get the same trim level it would be 8-10k more in MSRP
The mustang gt like the Nissan z and supra and m240i are niche cars that not alot of people will buy sadly. All great cars, just get the one you like the most !
Yeah haven’t seen Nissan Z much but other 2 are solid options
Dude mustang has always sold great until this turd came out smh. They aren't "niche cars'.
I have 2019GT and now in Europe 2024GT costs 50% more which is crazy not to mention that awful interior. I will only change my 2019GT to S650 if after face lift it will be better in that interior and backlights, also price should drop.
Yeah prices are crazy on the new 2024s. I’m hoping a refresh will at least bring out changes to justify price hike
01 gt conv. my next one will be 05 to 09 hardtop. and after that an 11 to 14 gt with over 400 hp.
If they replace the screens with gauges back in the dash and put tactile controls for AC and radio back I will buy one.
I would like hvac controls to be physical but don’t mind the interior screens. It’s modern and has good customization
@@midnight347 I actually like the exterior better on the 2024. To be honest, I want the 23 interior, 24 exterior and a 7.3l Godzilla under the hood!😂
Dark horse styling actually looms pretty aggressive in person
Like the s650 in my opinion price and like the red mustang hear the face never really grew on me early s550 like mine I like, s650 in vapor blue is so sweet
Yeah most people are ok with looks now but pricing is an issue especially 2025 that saw a big increase
TH-camrs are showcasing all that can be done with the 24s and it is limited.
Yeah until tuning is unlocked it will be like that
Anyone know when the tuning will be unlocked
@@panglingaowNever if people keep fucking buying them
@Michael-pi8pss650 owners ain't because they can't lmao. Mustangs are made for modifying bro wtf r u on? Up until this overpriced turd anyways lol
@@panglingaowI don't think it's a matter of unlocking something you just flat out can't tune it outside Ford approved stuff and I don't see it changing.
It's prices an bank got a choke hold on the financial market
Yeah that’s a factor as well! Crazy interest rates
40 to 50k for a weekend car is crazy. I had a 2024 lt1 Camaro I loved the car but I traded it in for a truck that I can do a lot more things with.
Yeah disposable income is a lot limited these past few years with everything going up
It don't have to be a weekend car it can be a daily if you want it to be. Not defending tbe s650 I don't even like them I'm just saying.
I love my ‘22 with analog gauges. (I’m old). I hate the new dash, the rear deck lid/tail lights, and the price of the ‘24. I do love the new front end though.
Yeah price is the biggest reason they aren't selling well. I don't mind the interior or the looks but geez it's so expensive
is that sold to customer or sold to the dealer and a majority are sitting on the lot ?
Sold to customer actual sales
Differently seen more New Mustangs on the road compared to Nissan Z.
Nissan Z doesn’t exist. It was an alternate reality when they announced the car 😂but so true!
I like my 1999 GT bought new 53000 miles great car nice 5 speed $23000 new! Love this car it is mint! Perfect
Crazy to think prices have doubled! I really want a clean new edge with stick shift
I would buy one new if the prices weren’t so high. Even with a few thousand off a 401a PP is hard pass.
Yeah the price increase is about $8-10k for similarly spec S550
Cost is #1. Then interest rates. I personally think the new body style is ugly. Too angular and chunky. Almost like they started trying to copy the camaro. I much prefer the sleek lines of the outgoing style..
I don't mind the new body style but agree on pricing and interest rates that is keeping most buyers at bay
I've only seen 2 650s since they came out . There 50k now . I bought my premium 2016 for 31k . And it's the same car
I have the only one in my tri county area so the cops definitely see me… but I paid 40k for mine, and they definitely are not the same car
Yeah if i was to spec similar to my 2019 it’s $8k more which is crazy
I think the other issue is there’s no time yet for the s650 you can pretty much deck that car and run lows all day long
Yeah once tuning is unlocked it will change things and hopefully better sales
Mustangs were affordable cars for the working man and women but now they are just outrageously price. They became unaffordable not just on price but the insurance companies as well ripping people off
Yeah compared to inflation data the price is comparable but because wages haven’t kept up it seems even higher
Compared to the 15-23 it’s pretty darn ugly
I think they look good but I prefer 18-23 as well
We still have a lot of 2024 year left we're not even half way
Yeah dealers are starting to discount them now that they realize they can sell them close msrp
I had a GT on order and the pricing started hitting the price a BMW M2. I got the M2.
Yeah bmw M2 is definitely a nicer for same price as mustang GT. It’s more special so will hold its value better
Dont foget the insane interest rates
Yup! Typically around 6% for new cars which is crazy
Ford offers 1.9 for 48 months and 3.9 for 60.. they have one of the best if not the best apr available for any gasoline car
Agreed with above. Biggest thing is price. If price drops or it's able to be tuned, that would change the sales!
if only the s650 interior had the s550 digital dash and the chrome switches
Yeah I wish we still had toggle switches on S650
I personally just like the s550s better but that’s just me. Also I think the dark horse looks super cool but I’m not paying 70-85k for an NA mustang making 500 which is more like 450 or so to the wheels just because it “looks cooler”. That’s outrageous. I got my c7 zo6 built car for about that I just can’t justify it in my head. I wish they threw a SC on the dark horse that would’ve made it worth it for me
There’s a lot of cars for $70k that I’d buy before dark horse despite being a Mustang fan. Heck 2020 gt500 msrp was $70k
