A LOT is closed in Norway on sundays, even big supermarkets. They are quite old fashion about their sundays BUT maby the rest of us should copy that and go out hiking instead of beeing indoors too much. Hejja Norge🎉
In UK it was normal to be closed on Sunday and half day Wednesday until late 80s. Then it all changed under the guise of "progress." Now everyone wants to have those days off, but no one wants to lose the shops being open.
Since when was it "old fashion" to have workers rights...??? People who are working in retail area also need free time. Your country has never left the old idea that people are slaves.....so who is lagging behind...????????
@Dan-fo9dk it's a debatable viewpoint either way. How do you balance the needs of a modern society with the needs of protecting the workforce? The theory was that when we lost our Sunday and (in my town in UK, half day Wednesday) we were compensated by more 'flexible' days off. That protects worker's rights. However, as family groups now have different times off it has contributed to the break down in the nuclear family principle and with catastrophic consequences, in my opinion.
if you're ever back up there, the walk from ulriken to fløien is fantastic. I work near the hospital, so once in a while when it's nice out I walk up ulriken, walk over to fløien and walk down or take the funicular depending on how knackered I am and then get the bus home. Takes a while, but it's a nice chill walk
Bergen looks lovely. I wish the UK retained its old Sunday closing. It was so peaceful. These days all shops are open even on Bank holidays and Christmas.
I was in the hospital a couple of weeks ago and told to stay calm and avoid US election results. So I caught up on some Steve videos that I had missed. Much nicer than election results, in the short run.
So cool to see you in my hometown, Steve! Haukeland Sykehus is the main regional hospital (sykehus literally means house for the sick). You were right about the red and yellow kiosks, they were the old cable car cabins (and were named Perle and Bruse).
Another great video. One of the things I like about your videos is you haven’t done what a lot of TH-camrs do and go upmarket as soon as you’re making a few quid. Therefore alienating the very viewers who made them successful. Keep it real Steve.
Love the videos Steve, Bergen is just as i remember it. Recently had a stroke, spending many good hours working my through your videos, they are a real tonic. The dark nights aren't so bad as i can enjoy your travels. Thank you, they really do help and cheer me up.
I'm not much of a city lover but Bergen is one of my all time favorites. Thanks so much for taking us along on your day there! I'd so love to get back there
Awesome!! You are hands down the best tour guide! Just like being with a friend. Thank you for braving the cold and climbing up the mountains. So rocky! Bergen is a lovely place and how nice they close on Sundays so most people can have a day of rest and family time like the old days in the U.S. Happy you had a great feed at the end you earned it!!
The views from the mountain top are fantastic and it was nice you were allowed to wander around. The engineering on display is impressive. Thanks for the midweek video, it was very enjoyable.
I'm ill at the moment and waited sooo hard for the message from TH-cam that your vid is on! 😊 Now 28 minutes will be a little bit happier. ;) Thanks for your work on the Wednesday-vids, Steve!
The stretcher/first aid point seems a good idea. Looking at the path I can imagine a few sprained and broken ankles over the year. Thanks Steve. A nice vlog.
In 2010 I lived just a little further up the hill from the cable cars. The memories I have walking up that hill even on days when the weather was below freezing 🥵
"Utgang" in Norway and "Gang oot" in Scotland. That's our Viking heritage showing! Thank you for another fabulous trip, I love a cable car. Beautiful city too. Padlocks, especially on bridges, are a big no,no. What is the point? Alicja would love this, you'll have to come back....
@@janettesinclair6279 well in modern Swedish (still) they have the word gata, meaning road. We have this in the UK wherever you see Northgate, Westgate etc. But in Swedish gata is pronounced "yata", with a 'y' sound for the G. Hence we got our local corruption - Yatts Road, or "road road" 💕🤣
Steve thanks! I’m off sick and this was just what I needed. I love that the gondola gave the full breadth of options for getting that amazing view. Thank you for popping up to the waterfall too. I could probably manage that having seen you do it. I know you don’t aim specifically to show people less able like me their options to do what you do, but you often manage to and I’m grateful. ❤❤
aye Steve - this time you caught me in the act (in a memory)... a bit over 10 years ago I met a really nice Norwegian girl here in Scotland, and there was a wee bit of flirtation going on, but it didn't lead to anything, except for small talk (shy me!), and she traveled on too quickly... never saw her again, but remember to this very day, that at the time she worked in that posh restaurant at the top station of that cable car, and I was super curious to see how it looks inside! So I was a bit distracted, while I watched you scrambling around on the rocks... sweet memories! 😎
Oh my goodness, Steve!!!! 😮😮. I don’t fair well with heights at all and when you were out on those peaks, I was terrified for you the whole time! And all the while you were walking back over all those rocks/bolders. AND FILMING the whole time!!! Eeeks!!
Absolutely gorgeous. The brilliant colour palette of the terrain up there reminds me of the Glenfinnan region a little. And that low, dramatic, moody sky looks incredible with the wide angle lens. Many thanks for putting in the hours on these bonus videos. Hugely appreciated! P.S. [edit] When I went to Bergen a couple of years ago I made the mistake of renting one of those green electric scooters behind you at 27:50 ... because almost all of the city centre streets have that brick mosaic surface, it was like riding a pneumatic drill. I was so shook up, I just abandoned it after 20 mins 🤣
Another great video. I love Steve's walkabouts - he comes across things that could easily be missed. Views of Bergen and the surrounds were stunning. Norway is an amazing country for scenery. Always a bit worried when Steve clambers over rocky paths whilst filming views but I'm sure he takes great care.
Thanks so much for a fantastic tour of Bergen. The gondola was amazing and wow those views! Glad you had something better than a hotdog. I really enjoy your videos. Cheers from Melbourne Australia
Wow! The scenic views from the top of that gondola ride were fantastic, enough to counteract your fear of heights I hope. It makes you appreciate what a beautiful world we live in. Great video, look forward to Saturday's episode😊

Hi Steve, I just joined your adventures and enjoy them a lot. It makes us laugh so much sometimes when you forget your coat, or boots, and you never sort out your food. But we like your journeys a lot.
If you ever decide to do merch - hats, t-shirts, hoodies, coffee mugs etc you should have "Aye, let's go" printed on them!
That’s a wee hat, a wee tshirt, a wee hoodie 😂
put me down for two
And " I could live there" 😂
And "Always uphill!" 😂
So many ideas in here!!!!

My heart is in my mouth watching you standing on the edges with that wind blowing. I couldn't do it so well done you. Love the videos
It's actually not as bad as it sounds. The winds don't blow you off. You might have surprised yourself how well you would have done.
Microphones also tend to make wind sound louder/more intense than it is.
Steve, the best experiences are often spontaneous
Hi Steve, you certainly are racking up those miles at the moment and I'm really enjoying the content.
This is quickly becoming one of my favorite channels on TH-cam. I'll looking forward to when you hit a wee 500k.
Stevie “wee bit” Marsh, what a way to start the day!
@5:55 you missed a perfect opportunity for “wee bit”!
@8:48 the wee football stadium. You totally redeemed yourself. You are going to have to make some “wee bit” merch

I rolled an ankle up there, thankfully nothing serious although I hobbled about for a couple of days after.
Wow just wow. Steve you never disappoint, thank you.
I was in Norway last year for the first time, WOW!!! the whole country looks "brand new" SOOOO clean and beautiful.
Wow, the fun never stops, I quite liked the music overlay, something different. Another stellar video Steve, thank you!
Great vid…did the cable car in Tromso a few weeks ago followed by walk across mountain at the top ,it was wonderful with tremendous views.
My eyes are off the scenery, hate heights, well done Steve being out in such a windy day, be safe.

Old Norse is a delight. I'm in the North York Moors and we have an Outgang Lane, Keld Lane and (my favourite) a Yatts Road connecting us to town 😊
More like dialectical continuum, really. There's a lot of scots words that are perfectly reasonable in Norwegian. Like bairn = barn for example.
