It’s a bit of a shame to see the Longines Master Calendar Chronograph get knocked out so early, it’s such a beautiful watch that provides so much complexity for such good value.

I'm the proud owner of a Longines Zulu time Blue with a Leather strap. No disrespect to Tudor but this watch gets so many compliments that its unreal. The on the fly strap adjustment is fenomenal and finally its very accurate. Thanks for the video and keep the good work

Curious as to what compliments you get and from who?
Can you be more specific please.
How many over what period of time?
Is it the only watch you wear (if not how often do you wear it so the compliment frequency can be more accurate)?

It’s such a shame Longines did not fit the strap ends to the case better.
It looks like an aftermarket strap, but they could have curved the ends and the white stitching to give a much better aesthetic IMO
It also looks too matt for the watch (I have one on a bracelet and love it BTW) in the photo of the 42mm I just looked at.
Matt blue with white stitching looks more ship than aircraft to me.
A blue curved croc would have suited the watch much better maybe.

Although I don't see the BB58 blue as hyped or posted on social media as much as when it came out in 2020, it's still a spectacular color. Even though both my Tudor ADs have a lot more stock now, I very rarely see the blue in the display. I would love to see the BB58 get some updates, such as a T-fit clasp. Personally, I not so secretly hope for an all blue Pelagos 39 or 41mm Black Bay METAS diver to be released at W&W this year. If so, it could be the first Tudor I buy.

  • @LanguagesWithAndrew
    @LanguagesWithAndrew 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

As soon as Tudor puts the T-fit clasp on *all* their Black Bay watches, nothing else in their price range (roughly US$3-5k) will be able to compete, it won't even be close. For those who don't know: the T-fit clasp is their tool-free microadjustment system, similar to Rolex Glidelock, which Tudor previously only put on the Pelagos but just recently introduced (only) on the red-bezel Black Bay 58 but not any of the other Black Bay divers (why? no clue but I expect them to put it on the rest soon because, why wouldn't they?).

Thank you for always putting out educated, fair and neutral content. I’ve learned as much about watches from you as I have with doing my own research and reading. I’ve never heard you speak poorly about a brand, style or other dealer/creators. You have said at times that a brand or type of watch wouldn’t be a fit or a type would be for you. You always find positive mentions about the brand or model. In the last couple days, I’ve seen other “watch dealers/content creators” kind of hating on you for your success. They say they’re happy for you all while basically whining about TH-cam and monetizing content. Then he goes on to speculate WHY you opened a brick and mortar store, “for your image.” I guess it rubbed me the wrong way because it appeared in my feed saying because I watch your content. So thank you for not being like that guy and always being professional and doing what you do. Congrats on the store!

IMO the $5,000 to $10,000 range is the absolute best for purchasing luxury watches.
You get a lot of value for money in brands like Omega, Rolex (at MSRP), Nomos, IWC, Cartier, Grand Seiko etc. You get their own finishing, designs, movements, and takes on watchmaking. Anything below that range will tend to have third-party movements or visible shortcuts in quality, and anything above that range has diminishing returns.

I just bought my first luxury watch in this price range. It was between BB58, Pelagos 39, IWC spitfire, GS sbgw231/235, and seiko sje093.
The gilt on the BB was a deal breaker (and the commonality), the GS was not practical for my daily attire, the pelagos titanium dullness and mismatched lume hands bugged me, and the as beautiful as the IWC spitfire is it looked like an overpriced Hamilton mechanical.
Ultimately chose the limited edition Seiko sje093 (62mas recreation). As a seiko lover I know others think it’s overpriced for a “seiko” but the level of quality is there and more in some ways. It’s also a bit more special in my eyes and coming from an spb143 which was my favorite watch, a definite upgrade. I still want the spitfire and or P39 in the future (hopefully they fix the lume hands). Buy what you love.

That’s not at all surprising. The Black Bay Fifty-Eight is just a special watch, plain and simple.
It’s robust, but extremely versatile; just as at-home at the beach as it is beneath a shirt cuff. And it’s one of the great watches of the 21st century, despite how many other variants sit beneath the Black Bay umbrella.
I own a Fifty-Four and a 2023 Thirty-Six, and I still reach for my Fifty-eight before either of those. There’s just something about it.

I can't believe the "best" watch under $4000 has no complications, not even a date. That's a hilarious result. Zulu time has date, gmt, cosc, water resistance, spinny saphire bezel, and looks fabulous. 😂

I think the results would’ve been way different if people would actually put those watches on the wrist. I can speak for myself that I did actually like the blue black bay very much from the photos, but when I tried it on suddenly, my choice was more on the black bay 54 or 58.

Tudor BBs are very well constructed and visually agreeable watch, but is very midlevel to me personally in the looks department. Though it's a very safe choice when purchasing a watch it doesn't have ton of personality nor does it speak to me. There's such a wide array of watches under $4k I'd rather go off the beaten path. But that's make makes freedom of choice such a great thing.

I was surprised that the Grand Seikos were unable to have the second hand match the indices properly. Missing the mark made them look like any cheap quartz watch.
My Casio duro looks like a more expensive movement the way the second hand lines up perfectly with all indices. One more thing, I don't like the shape of the hour hand on the Tudors.

quite agree with the black bay 58 winning, i would of preferred the longines zulu in the final against the Tudor 58.
the black bay 54 is just too small for me. the surprise of the bunch was the light blue dial seiko 34mm width is in the women's section

Weird thing is I like my (BB 58) , but It don't wear it more than other watches. I have a Presage that's prettier to look at, yet I can't part ways with the Tudor...I have mixed feelings about this, LoL Some watches you have to feel and see before you order them, an example is a two-tone gold and black Longines HydroConquest, never like it and when i saw it live and wore it, felt for it.

Fun tourney, but a few things I find interesting.
-Tudor BB58 is also only UNDER 4k if off bracelet 🙂. So in this tournament, when voting, I'd take that into account.
-Tudor Black Bay Pro also only gets below 4k if off the bracelet. On bracelet, it's like 4200. So I'd take that into account when voting as well. Also, I'd rather have the Longines Hodinkee Zulu Time that looks similar to the BB Pro but has better dimensions and is still $400 bucks cheaper than the BB Pro on bracelet.

I got the BB54 due to my small wrist (15cm) and I'm happy with it. I was considering the Black Bay 36 as everyday but the dial is too similar to the 54! If Tudor will make a 36mm Ranger I would like it a lot
