    surprised you didnt mention all the safety features, the 360 degree monitor, the smart sonar system that breaks for you, the same system that prevented a collision in 40mph crash test, and reduced a collision to 15 mph in the 60 mph crash test. Not to mention one of the only cars in its class to get a green pass on every single safety test.

    Meh, I understand why they went to a new naming scheme. The G's name has been completely destroyed by the "tuning" and "stance" crowd. Q50 sounds refreshing and refined and very european and considering the fact the original Q is one of the cars that put infiniti back on the spot light.

    This new Q50s face looks more like a traditional Skyline. If it had after burner tail lights then it would definitely be a throwback design to the R32, R33, and R34 Skylines.

    So far, excellent review of a beautiful machine, but I paused the video at 5:45 to write this comment...You didn't feel or notice a difference in the steering because you were driving a Q50 Sport with only optional navigation. This particular Q50S doesn't have the optional... -Memory seats, adaptive cruise control, blind spot detection, rain sensing windshield wipers, front & rear parking sensors, multiple camera views including an above view 360 cam, moving object detection - AKA MOD, plus many other options, including Direct Adaptive Steering - AKA DAS. This has the standard electric power steering that my '15 Q50 has. I love the steering in my Q50, but it took a while to get used to it. Once I did get used to car and the steering... Even after all these years, I freaking love my Q50!

    The Q nomenclature is rather smart. Instead of licensing a name for each powertrain they make, they can have a name that represents the entire model itself. With the old nomenclature they would have a G25, G35H, G37 and with more powertrains coming along, they'd have to license several names for one model.

    in japan the q50s is a skyline. i would want the q50s if they didn't weigh it down with this infiniti luxury stuff. Nissan USA sport sedans are all fwd. The 2015 tuner scene suffers because they think we all want to drive comfortably. if it wasn't for the brz i would be lost!

    • @tuolumne9
      @tuolumne9 9 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      And here's the problem with Infiniti - the old Gs are being bought and chopped up by ricers who have no idea of class. Thus they are ruining Infinti's attempts to position their brand as a viable alternative to Mercedes Audi and BMW. They're becoming known for the trashy tuner scene, kids who have no real money but have just enough to afford a $10K used 2005 G with enough left over to go all "stance nation" with the car. Embarrassing really.
      In Europe VW and Opel are seen as more premium than "Infiniti", and thus have FAR higher residual rates. Infinti is a joke

    How can a 326 HP V6 make only 269 lb-ft of torque?? That seems awfully low compared to Lexus' 3.5l V6 making 306 HP and 277 lb-ft, and of course significantly lower that the BMW turbos.

    Ok, just to clear up all mthe confusion and mis-information out there regarding the Q-Series Steering. Is this electrically-assisted Steering, or isn't it? I've heard it depends on whether or not it has the Technology Package. Is that correct? And I don't see how it COULD be a Hydraulic Rack like my G37 since you can adjust the car Dynamics which would imply that the car does have an electronic steering rack.

    I looked at this car when shopping around and it was nice but what surprised me how willing the dealers were willing to drop 10k on the car. Not one but two dealers near me. Love a great deal but it was a little concerning. I didn't go with it because the infotainment has been reported to crash by many news sources including consumer reports. I must say it was the best looking of the bunch and the red color in the video looks amazing in person.

    • @UpstateBreezy
      @UpstateBreezy 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      metsfaninct I know your comment is 3 years old but I thought I’d reply. Most used luxury cars have no resell value. Assuming the car was used if they were willing to drop the price that much. A lot of dealers will say the price is a lot more than it’s really worth. They tell people they’ll drop the price so it sounds like they are getting a deal; when In reality they’re paying the actual price the car is worth. Always check the Carfax before buying a car. And make sure they have maintenance records. Peace.

    It is a shane that They just can’t get this brand right here in Australia. Having one of these at present it would have been good to stay in the branch. But with poor presence and really, really overpriced parts and really bad customer support we will have to consider other options when it has run it’s time! And it is a shame because this is a really nice car to own and drive!

  • @MarcG7424
    @MarcG7424 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    I have 3 issues with this car #1 the duel touch screens. The infotainment screen causes you to look away from the road to use it. #2 The drive by wire system I'm glad its optional I want to feel connected to the wheels (opt out) #3 Run flat tires you can't change just one if one goes bad I would rather standard tires. 328hp sounds enticing it's not enough to make me deal with what I perceive as negatives with this car. I will probably opt for the IS instead.

    • @Ghost-my1tr
      @Ghost-my1tr 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Infotainment screen on mine works perfectly fine while driving. Doesn't really distract me, since, while I drive, I only care about music controls and AC. Drive by wire, I never drove one with it. Mine comes without it, but I've heard people complain a lot about it. But the power.. I love my car just for that. I love the way it launches at a red light. Mine is a RWD.

    • @tuolumne9
      @tuolumne9 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Because it does nothing great. It's interior industrial design is a full 2 generations behind Mercedes and Audi, its exterior styling is forgettable and stale 2 years into its product life, and the power train is simply regurgitating 90s Nissan tech - all while German competitors are moving to state of the art turbo 4s, diesels, turbo/supercharged 6 & 8 cylinders, replete with efficient dual clutch transmissions. Add in the fact that it doesn't feel "premium" in the way a German car does, and its done. It's been a sales bomb on all continents because it is a half assed car.

    top speed 145 you never gonna hit it but just saying... wrong, just last week i rented q50s and hit the max on autobahn, my experience with driving it was the engine is powerful and you really can own the road, sounds good in sport mode, but but.... on corners on autobahn car gets out of control on very high speeds and you are forced to brake, driving around towns, sometimes steering feels heavy, its like a big engine that comes to life on high speeds, but at low speeds car gives heavy feeling on the steering

    I have been driving various version of Q50, the steering is a lot more sensitive than the steering of G37. Too sensitive I may say. Very unnatural. Also I think the steering constantly making tiny adjustments all and making it very nervous on the road. Very unnatural, again. I can't wait jumping back into my G37.

    How come this Q50s does not have a heated steering wheel?-I didn't see it when he went to climate on the lower screen. Also, the one he is driving does not have adaptive steering so I have no clue what he is talking about. Adaptive steering comes with the deluxe touring package which includes wood trim interior and memory seat. I didn't see wood trim or memory seat buttons inside of this Q50S. Do your HW before you decide to review a car.

    • @crazyjkz
      @crazyjkz 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well it didn't get the ZF 8-speed (but I think the Infiniti 7AT is more than adequate for this application) but it did get the new VR30 twin-turbo V6 with 400hp in the Red Sport 400, recalibrated & updated Direct Adaptive Steering, and some chassis & suspension upgrades. I just recently test-drove a 2016 Red Sport 400 and it was an exhilarating ride to say the least, the power from the new twin-turbo V6 was very impressive (it sounds good too) and the updated DAS is a noticeable improvement over the original. Handling is also improved too, less body roll and better over balance. Infiniti definitely added some much-needed sport and performance to the Q50.

    Are we supposed to really buy that something like this really competed with cars like the new 2015 C-Klasse? Because I don't. I used to have a G37, and it was noisy, unrefined, and raw. Love it or hate it. The new C-Klasse, however, is better on every conceivable front - styling, luxury, lighting, performance, feel, etc. I just ordered a C400. The "q50" I drove? All of the negatives of the G (archaic old engine with tractor sounds), but all the good stuff inexplicably removed! Steering feel? Forget about it. Value? What value?
    Point is, the new Q50 is a disaster, as sales have clearly demonstrated thus far. The thing has been a complete flop in Europe and Asia, and is not too far behind in N. america. What does Nissan expect? Maybe when they feed a few billion into Infiniti to design their own engines and platforms things stand a chance of changing.

      n777ua I have an 05 G35x, ride is super quiet, perfect for long highway trips. Also the C-class is WAY slower. C-class comes base with a 241 HP 4-cy. that produces 0-60 is a SLOW 6.1 seconds.. the q50 base comes with 330 HP V6 and produces 0-60 in only 5.3 seconds. Clear winner- Q50.... +n777ua I think there are some minor bits the Q50S does better than the C450 Sport. The biggest factor for me is pricing; a loaded everything Q50S Hybrid AWD is nearly $15k cheaper than a loaded C450 Sport with both cars having equal power & torque with AWD (~360hp & ~390lb/ft). The Q50S Hybrid also is capable of averaging 7l/100km in my hands, something I cannot replicate on any C-class sold here in Canada.
      Pricing & fuel costs aside, I do agree the new W205 C-class is a revelation. I've personally driven the C300, C400 & C450 Sport (my mother owns a C350 which means I get these awesome loaners & test drives from events). Hope you enjoy your new C400.

    It's a great car besides 3 recalls and going through 10 Dunlop 19 inch run flats in less than 2 years. Why do companies insist on run flats?....they all suck! Force them to put on regular tires. I also hate that these reviewers get the ultra top loaded Q50S at 52k and review it. Stupid. THAT'S WHY the suspension is hard. Your in ultra performance 19 or 20 inch tires. (options dependent) 1 S option for $1800 gets you regular performance summer tires. All 8 models and the S only carry run flats. They should have made heavy/quick the default steering in adaptive. They screwed themselves.

      @@josephmiranda-steele9487 I owned the car for 3 years in thr top spec. It was a great car besides all the recalls, 9 flat tires, a full refund of my lease and Nissan going to shit in the last 7 years.

    YES...that's a Q50s not a Q50...big difference. I've had a Q50 for 2 years. I've been through 7 tires and 3 electrical problems. Those Dunlop Run Flats suck! $500 a tire. I drive avoiding pebbles in the road. Don't get the 19inch tires. The car looks like crap without them though and you have to drive in HEAVY/QUICK steering all the time for the vehicle to feel right. It's an amazing vehicle...but it's problems sink it. I wouldn't get one again and I had a g37x before this. Why also are you reviewing this almost 2 1/2 years after the vehicles release? Answer=You shouldn't be.

    • @tuolumne9
      @tuolumne9 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Spot on. It can't even compete with the A4, a car designed in 2006-2007 for a 2008 world launch date. As far as competing against the NEW A4 or C class? Buy-bye Infiniti

      n777ua but guess what, you can take it to a nissan dealer for repairs

    • @chrisloveless3087
      @chrisloveless3087 9 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      Q50 is faster and more powerful than the a4 (weak 211 hp) or c-class (241 hp)... Getting 100 more HP over your competitors for the same price point is huge.. Also the current A4 was redesigned and launched in 2015, not in 2008... Have you also compared maintenance and repair costs? German cars carry some of the highest on average maintenance costs. As to where an Infiniti is relatively cheap to maintain since its a luxury-branded Nissan. The aggressive styling Japanese car designers have been producing look way more phenomenal than the plain jane designs coming out of Audi currently.

      You're confused because this car is optioned out and a C class or A4 optioned out will prove to you why this car sucks. BTW the S4 starts at 48k and the CLA 45 AMG starts at 46k and come stock with more options and also look more appealing.

    This has just hit the market and is already irrelevant. Boring styling, slow technology, interior still looks like a nissan... the list goes on.
