I grew up in the area in the 70's - I'm an old roadie now here in SoCal but I'd love to go back some time with a gravel bike & explore all the back roads, fire roads, logging roads, etc. Just miles & miles of back roads.

Hi Bike Farmer. Love your work, attitude, philosophy and your personal bikes…at least those you’ve shown us on TH-cam. I also love your work apron. Have you ever mentioned where you got it? I’d love to get one myself. I’m a Nordic skier and work on skis (waxing, etc.) but n the winter, and am always envious of a good work apron. Thanks for all your content. Wish I lived near by and could drop in to have you work on my bikes. All the best

I love how the bike community comes together. I’ve met many great friends and riding buddies at events like this. Likeminded folks who can sit around and talk about bikes for hours. Thanks for taking us along.

Thanks for the tip on this event. My family has vacation property just a few miles west of where this event took place and I missed knowing about it by two weeks. Oh well.
Maybe I'll attend in 2026 since 2025 is out for me.

one time when i was like 16 i had to ride my bike somewhere and there was a literal sheet of ice on my seat that wouldnt break off. eventually after my ass froze i manned up and whacked the bike against a pole seat-first to break the ice so i could keep going. loved that old 10 speed that i found in the trash

For some its both the *FUNNY* and (Not So Funny) aspect of what they have? What else is Out there ? How much they ride ? Then, YES (Is It a NOSTALGIC ) Purchase from days gone by ? This is ALL in reference to one of the previous clips about 400 bucks to Repair , service, upgrade some guys 800 series TREK... As a YOUTH ( SCHWINN ) Was the Ruler of any others out there. Sure there were brands from many of the different stores that got put on sale or were the KNOCK off to KNOCK-OFFS ( YADDA - Yadda - yadda ) going on still. My Own Schwinn Super Le Tour 10 speed (WHICH ) I personally bought from Johnson Sporting Goods down on North Ave and 68th back in the day.. It was with me until after marriage and divorce. (Which if anyone ) CARES ? Was a period of about 25 years...
The TREK I replaced it with ? Not the Best, Not the Most Expensive ? Not even the Preferred model ? YET, as years went by *KEPT* Upgrading until MY OWN Imperial Masterpiece was obtained at the Wheel and Sprocket location on Capital Drive and Lily road on the corner it still stands at many decades later. WHY ( SHARE ) ALL This with YOU and YOURS ?? Take away the IDEAL Purchase. Add in the LESS is MORE or MORE or LESS ( EACH PERSON ) will Say, Do, WANT, Need , A Variety of Reasons to stick with Ole Glory or Drop a few grand to have the latest and greatest from 2024 still going forward... At its peek ( I ) rode as much as possible. Daily about everywhere instead of a car, or scooter , or walking even. Trails, roads, Making my own path, its all on the scale of DID it MY Way to this very day.... Is It Worth It 400 bucks on a tune up ? The taco rear and Dented front ( ALSO ) could have been much less if a Suitable USED item was located at a rummage, garage sale, or relatives friend of a friend of a friend, etc. Due to circumstances NO One Here directly needs to know about. Recently Sold my \ matching set of His and Hers, Trek Verve 3 Hybrid Bikes for dam near what (I) paid for them just a few years before. Wheel and Sprocket in Delafield is where those come from. The couple that bought them ? A Husband and Wife with two kids who wanted much better then Walmart, and others were selling their owns versions of COPIES of COPIES of COPIES with the 14 year old friend of a friend of the back store neighbors ex - wife's relatives Drop in / Drop out again juvenile delinquent spinning the wrenches on and off- etc.
Told them over the Phone and online as well. WHAT *YOU* think is possible will be reality once you see these gems in person ( TRULY ) Not Beat up, Not Crashed or rattle canned to look better then what the showroom displays often match up with. Accessories from Bontrager and Better still. Manuals, Extras, and so forth. MAN they were BEYOND Thrilled. The Wife was looking at the husband. Did YOU bring the Cash like the Nice Man asked us for ??? YES - Yes - yes ( HE ) could NOT hand it over quick enough to be quite honest. As a youth had taken my off brand bike to the local shop in the town at the time. T.R. Driggetts. They Sold all the good stuff. One guy actually later on went to do the CLASSIC Bike Shop just down the road as well. WHY it Matters ??? PRICE is NOT the FACTOR when (YOUR) Ability to pay is far greater then what it was YOU went after. HOPING to FIND the Diamond and not getting BURNED by Scammers and Grifters or worse. The bill from the shop to adjust the Derailers, Put new tape on the handlebars, and Fill up the tires ( BASICALLY ) was just under 70 bucks... Back in the mid 70's mind you... Rip - OFF TOTALLY ! ! ! A ten speed, Three speed, 21 or 27 speed is not about the amount of gears. Its how much the PRICES jump to say a can of WD-40 along with a set of Allen keys and two screwdrivers cost YOU to do it in ten minutes or less - ALWAYS ! ! ! YOU may feel its ALL fair until some one else is then asked to PAY that bill?? My Advice. Offer them the second hand option for Wheels ( RIMS ) Not the top dollar HOLY ( $-H-I-T ) DIRECT Heart Attack and Dies Final Version we saw here. In Truth they will never notice the difference from... ANYWAYS to Some its ALL about the BRAND Loyalty ? Buyers Remorse ? PRICE Gouging ? Its True you DO NOT Get what is Paid for... IF (I) was you? Your conversation with the GUY HELL BENT on the Older Trek 800 would have sounded more like this. NEW Parts Is this much. Used/ second hand is this much. Mid to low line off brand versions of parts is this much... UNLESS someone is Re-Storing items to BRAND NEW / LIKE NEW - Original Condition ?? They will rarely BENEFIT like Say a Tour De France Athlete could by Top Dollar and High Price Investments might be able to. No Matter the Name stamped on the frame or printed on the jersey or shorts, etc. 400 bucks it NOT a GOOD price. At least based on the reality of what else is available for purchase. LABOR is a FEE only YOU alone can Justify.
The VOICE of REASON has Spoken...
YOUR Welcome in Advance for the CUSTOMER Feed back ! ! ! !
