i have both the card and i love both .. While Amex gives you great status on some of the high ranking memberships, Reserve has its own benefits especially free luxury cab service and airport meet and assist. So if you can manage the cards efficiently, then you can enjoy both :)

Amex will never make its Indian cards at par with the US ones. For this, Indians have to boycott them completely. If people continue to take them, why will they care ?
Agreed with the sentiment. Another reason can be that Indian credit cards market is still at a nascent stage. Amex' revenue from India is hardly 2-3% of the revenue that it gets from US. So, we think that they don't take the Indian market very seriously.
Then should we take the Amex seriously ? India is an emerging market and has the potential to provide a huge revenue to them, especially now, when digital payments are the in thing in the country.
What a elaborated research work, I was looking for, I personally wanted to have Axis one to get the max benefits, regarding the Amex lounges can be get with any average card: my personal opinion.

The Plat card in India is a joke. In absolute terms, the Rs. 70,800 fee is even greater than the $675 a US card holder pays. Amex gives you 0 credits against the fee they charge and the other benefits are nowhere remotely comparable. They're now selling the card with a 125,000 MR welcome bonus. The fact that they managed to sell this card with 0 credits against it shows how much of a premium value people place on this card.
Amex is now in most cases forcing Taj vouchers on most people. Both these cards are mostly status symbols. These days Amex is not coming up with good offers.

Amex is offering 135k points to upgrade currently. I usually transfer to Marriot when there is a 1.3x offer at least. That’s 175k Marriot Bonvoy points which I redeem for hotels offering 2 Rs per point atleast such as Maldives.
Overall, getting a benefit of 3.5L by paying 70k fees plus all the other benefits.

Looking mainly for travel benefits
Amex is basically short changing its Indian customers.
Number of lounges under amex is much more. Axis reserve jus offers priority pass. Many times in foreign airport priority pass lounge is full or in diffrnt terminal. Wheras amex offers multiple lounges in foreing airport includin prioritty, centurian ,delta etc. Thus easy to access. Centurian lounge allows u to take 2 guest in lounge for free
Is there any change in Credit card's variant can affect the cibil score? also, what about the credit history? will that continue the old variant's history or would get start as new one?
Do we get 5x rewards on Travel Edge for reserve? I thought it was only for Magnus. Also, do we get reward points for rent payments on reserve?
In US, if you open platinum in three different browsers/ incognito mode you will find 3different welcome offers.. i am not sure whether that is same in India
Mujhe amex ka credit card lena h. Maine dec. Me apply kiya tha to vo reject ho gaya tha then again march me apply kiya to vo bhi reject ho gaya. I have hdfc 2 credit card, axis 3 credit card, paisabazar cc & idfc wow cc.

No, but 25K bonus points for 1 L spend on a calendar month is only for Magnus.

airport lounges these days are circus - every credit (and even debit) cards give lounge access. if you travel a lot - amex lounges are a lot better (and quieter). No queue to enter, better quality food, and better relaxation overall.

But Amex lounges are available only at Delhi and Mumbai in India and that too in specific terminals only
In Hyderabad yesterday there was fifty members plus q for lift to go to lounge Amex platinum has no use in Hyderabad
I think the important part you’re missing out on :
1. Hotel memberships offered by Axis are region specific at max APAC but Amex memberships are global you can literally reap benefits across the globe wherever you travel and stay at the partner hotels.
2. Axis might have a great product at hand but their service is absolutely not good.
3. AMEX plat minimum benefit can be reaped if one is travelling internationally atleast once a year. Ek complimentary stay abroad will save you atleast 300 usd which is good value.
4. Amex customer service is amazing , great people to talk to.

@@CardAcademy True that. What I realised lately is no matter how good the product is support is equally important. Thanks for considering my views. Also, mentioning one another point here : Axis product is super strong here like literally even BookMyShow 1+1 never fails on Magnus/reserve but considering the surging sales things like these might become an issue soon. Not a apple to apple comparison for both the cards but Amex Plat is definitely not a card where it gives you great opportunity to recover the fee unless there’s international travel or great bookings across Oberoi or other classy properties.
@@abhilash1715 Axis Reserve and Amex Platinum are both different cards in that sense. Where the benefits on Reserve are more broad-based whereas benefits on Platinum are more niche.

So u can book a lesser price room witout breakfast n get free breakfast due to amex hilton gold membership.
Thiz is a big amount if u stay in hilton fr 3-4 days.
This needs to be counted in benefits too.

i just checked yesterday - the agent from amex told me vistara offer ended on 31st march 23.
So the offers keep changing from time to time.
AmEx has lost its charm , if it brings a full fee sped based renewal on the platinum charge it might start looking as a good program

Yes, but that won’t fetch you the maximum value for your points. For that, transfer the points to hotel or airline partners and then reap the benefits.

Amex Plat charge doesn’t get you 1L MR points on joining anymore. They are only offering Taj vouchers worth 45k.
I spoke to the customer care last week. Badly wanted to get the card but Taj vouchers make no sense
Very true, but post first year, you get nothing, or at least you have to press and bargain for it. In other words, fee will be charged every year but benefits only in the first year. I haven’t seen any card issuer other than Amex do it. Be it Infinia, Magnus, reserve or any other card, you get renewal benefits every year on payment of the card fee.
Last week itself we received an offer from Amex to get this card and receive 1,15,000 MR Points. The default offer is Taj Vouchers, but they run targeted offers from time to time.
