Confused by A's President Dave Kaval's recent Las Vegas Comments

- The A's announcement of a "binding" land purchase agreement at the Wild Wild West site in Las Vegas blew up their Oakland deal. Now they've already moved onto another site. So I thought it would be fun to go back and look at all the way A's President Dave Kaval hyped up the previous (now abandoned) site just days ago.
Expecting Vegas locals to go to the Strip is like expecting us to go to Pier 39.
The longer this drags on, the more I'm convinced that the A's have NO idea what they're doing.
Yeah lol. It’s like they’re just throwing stuff at a wall and seeing what sticks
Hopefully they'll back themselves into a corner such that they have no other option but to sell the team.
Truth.
I hope everyone involved realizes what they have in the Howard Terminal site and do what's right while there's still time. But time IS running out... Alameda county needs to step in and offer SOME kind of assistance to help keep this team and build the world class waterfront stadium in Oakland that this storied fan base & market deserves! If you build it, WE WILL COME!!! I hope the ownership and MLB Commissioner are smart enough to see that this potential move would cause WAY more damage and ill feelings than good so we need to really press reset on all of this and try to sincerely finalize this deal in good faith!!
Give Vegas expansion
I’m getting tired of the snakes Kaval and Fisher. Wish they’d just sell to Joe Lacob.
inb4 they sell to Vivek and moving to Sac instead, or to that SLC or Portland groups...
After all of the debacle keeping the team in Oakland or Bay Area is totally last in their preference list, so they never sell to the ones that wanna keep the team there...
@@ddddirge Lacob would get it done. A’s have had owners that don’t know what they are doing. Former A’s owner Steve Schott back in 2002, showed no interest in the number one site in the east bay picked by HOK architecture firm Uptown site in downtown Oakland. Had he been interested and not chase San Jose, a stadium would’ve been built long time ago.
@@deanwille334 is that the site that eventually becomes Broadway or something???

Thank you for the work you do Casey
I live in Las Vegas a few miles from the original location. The Wild Wild West site is kind of sketchy area, maybe not so safe for tourists or locals. Tropicana ave is know for the ladies of the night and it’s across from the Budget Suites a long term stay hotel. The new site is on the strip with plenty of parking options. Locals go to see the Golden Nights play which is across the street and they park just fine. Also there is a monorail station right across the street at the MGM Grand. All in all a better deal for attendance. The Raiders wanted to be closer trip but their giant stadium got nixed by Southwest Airlines, so the settled for their current location which isn’t that easy to get to for tourists. I’d rather have the A’s than the NBA.
The point Casey is making though is that all along throughout the stadium search for this ownership group, they've stressed how important it is for them to have a entertainment district or ballpark village to accompany the stadium - and this deal with Bally's on only 9 acres doesn't provide for that.
@@andychaves6858 Not true. The point Casey doesn't seem to understand (or want to understand) is the entertainment district including a new hotel, retail outlets, restaurants, and parking surrounding the ballpark will be developed by Ballys on all the acres separate from the 9 acres specifically for the ballpark.
@bens89144 Also a local and what you say is 100%. Amused how the Bay Area residents think they know best where we will and won't go.
@@J--F Well 1) With all the other Fisher-led stadium plans, the entertainment district would be spearheaded by the A's themselves, as opposed to a co-op or even fully dependent on another company (in this case Bally's). 2) As of this posting, nobody has publicly seen the plans - we really don't know what all of this property will look like or what it will include. My point (and Casey's point) is that all along an A's-spearheaded entertainment district was a necessity in the A's stadium plans, and now all of a sudden it isn't...which is weird. All we know is 9 acres will be for a stadium - which is pretty much all you can fit on 9 acres. 3) Isn't the LV Strip one giant entertainment district? This stadium/Bally's entertainment thing or whatever it will end up looking like will have to compete with literally every resort on the Strip. When you see The Battery in Atlanta - that's really the only big entertainment option in that area. Pre and post game, you're staying that area for food, bars, retail, etc. In Oakland it would have been a similar situation - the Ballpark Village (adjacent to Jack London Square) would have been THE big draw in that area. In LV, nothing stops you from heading down the street to any of the Caesars or MGM Resorts owned properties. So much of this just doesn't seem like a good deal for LV or the A's.
@@andychaves6858 Regardless of what was considered in Oakland, in Las Vegas I see no disadvantage in the A's partnering with an entertainment giant. Bally's has the experience and competence to produce a first class entertainment site. The establishments on the Bally's site will have the advantage of being closest to the stadium. That there will be other options in the vicinity will not be any disadvantage, just as The Venetian and Wynn don't suffer because the both exist near each other.
By contrast, California required and Oakland reportedly doubled the volume of "affordable" housing to be built near the stadium. The new Las Vegas site will be surrounded by venues that ballpark attendees will actually want to visit.
Kaval = Smithers
Fisher = Mr. Burns
The newest entry in the dictionary for the word, "Weasel" shows a picture of Dave Kaval.
Locals avoid the Strip like the Plague. I doubt 70% are going to that site. I never thought 70% was reasonable in the first place. Probably more like 35-40%, but I can guarantee you if it's on Trop it certainly will drop in Local attendance.
FACT CHECK: The Golden Knights play at T mobile on the Strip. 18K fans, mostly locals, go to every game, standing room only. 2nd best attendance in the NHL. Casey has no idea what he's talking about. The Knights have buses from all over the valley to bring in locals who don't want to drive, but most do anyway. Its not difficult to get to Tropicana and LV Blvd.
@@tqmeone Knights are different. They are OUR Team, built from scratch for Vegas. They created a special Bond after Oct. 1st. It is a unique experience. The A's will be transplanted. NOT made for Us. I don't see the same support for it as I se the Knights.
@@scottlinting6308 Complete baloney. They will be accepted in 2 seconds. EVERYOONE in Vegas wanted an NHL team to move instead of expansion. Why? On average it takes 10 years to be any good. The Knights are by far the exception to this rule. Vegas supports the Aviators. They have been rebranded so many times you can't count that high. You put "Vegas" in front of the A's, they are accepted as the local team.
@@scottlinting6308 I never think of October 1st when I go see the Knights play.......I have my money ready for season tickets!!
@@tqmeone so you’re telling me the Raiders don’t sell out with visiting fans? Every time I see a raiders home game, the fans are wearing the other teams colors.
Dave is like a typical women
Will just say what you want to hear .
No substance, no integrity , no moral compass .
They wanted retail and entertainment space and now 9 acres and scratch all that!
This whole things screams of Fisher desperately trying to get out of A’s ownership. He wanted to own(be handed) a bunch of prime real estate and when he didn’t get it he threw a fit.
Building on the strip will help hide the fact the stadium is going to be built on the cheap. This won't have Vegas pazazz. It's just going to be a stadium on the strip.
Kaval is a weasel.
@Casey Pratt do you know if Kaval has released any public statements regarding the shift to the Tropicana site? This stuff literally writes itself these days…
Manfred Fisher and Kaval don’t know what they are doing! Lacob would get a Howard Terminal stadium built
Dave looks exhausted
I’ve seen that the Tropicana has fields behind Bally’s/Tropicana that can accommodate parking one stadium away from The Strip.
While there is still time why don't the Oakland A's fans drag Kaval out of his office and have a tar and feather game. Something similar to the infamous White Sox disco demolition game of 1979.
Stick it to them, Casey.
I hope Vegas folks know that they could very easily get virtually anything else built on the strip WITHOUT having to use public funds
Vegas folks know that. /
I'm pretty sure most of the owners won't vote for this anyways unless they aslo get paid like why should baseball's worst owner Fisher get a free new stadium and then some.
Nobody:
Dave Kaval: “Fans really want to be able to ingress / egress with ease”
Yeah exactly how her terminal would be a lot more expensive building it now in California compared to build billion in Vegas I mean yeah I think a Roger would be a better manager or better owner
70% of our fans are going to be locals. The A’s are loco. No locals are going support 80 games at big league costs. Imagine paying for parking on top of tickets food beer etc. I’m from San Diego and all I had to do is take the trolley right to the front of the stadium. We don’t need the A’s. 😢😢😢
Fisher n kaval are both money crazy
You wonder if Kaval gets tired of hearing his own BS. After repeatedly "changing" the plans & reasons for doing it, I wonder if he actually believes what his own words or if he's just a he's just blowing smoke up your .....
SELL THE TEAM!!!
STAY HOME IN OAKLAND!! !!!
Tropicana Field!!!
MSG SPEAR having trouble raising money for there project but this A’s stadium is gonna need way more money then that and we got presidential election coming up late next year…..😂 bad timing for any construction.
great analysis - cheap cheap words by team and mlb
Move the A's to mushroom kingdom!
Give it up Casey!!! Las Vegas is getting the A's!!! 💯
I’d put it at about 95%. But it doesn’t mean people in Las Vegas should be stuck with this nonsense.
@@CaseyPrattCreations I'm a Las Vegas resident and I'm super hyped for the A's to come to town!! I say the A's come to Las Vegas build the stadium and then sell the team!! Las Vegas A's is coming!! 🏟️
@@XAM-cq2ng the team representing your home is never gonna be competitive. John Fisher isn’t going to sell nor is he going to spend. As long as these visiting fans come in and spend money, he’s not going anywhere. Glad to see your excited to have a last place team with bad ownership to come In.
@@CaseyPrattCreations Your concern for us Vegas locals is EXTREMELY touching.
If the As leave so be it, worst part is they're leaving for Vegas
The strip is NOT key here
We currently go to the strip for the knights games.
Nah. Not way bigger. Not “way bigger.” /
Sell the team
Huge A’s following in Vegas.
Why do you think it Rob Mannford will it won’t fit there’s a less chance at him the relocation fee will will not go through I mean it’s up to the commissioner it’s not up to the city of Oakland but here’s yours thing with that how much longer would it take to get the deal done theoretically if the A’s do stay in Oakland because Howard terminals not done the ball parks not built so it probably be like the end of 2627 the earliest maybe 2028 home but Casey pray I don’t want to see Denver win the finals yeah they got Jokić yeah they got Jamal Murray butt I don’t think if they can they got to minimize their turnovers though but the Giants are probably still gonna be more popular but Oakland fans are probably gonna want John Fisher to sell the team but major league baseball because it’s probably a bigger it’s going to be more valuable being in Vegas mean in Nevada because of drawled more attendance I mean Las Vegas is bigger than Nashville but I’ve got family it just outside of Sacramento and my uncle wants to see of the A’s move to Vegas it will drop more jobs for the state 👍

Hello!!... 😃...Spot on, Casey!...Hey...Was Kaval sitting on Fishwrap's lap that whole interview? He looks like one of those ventriloquist dummies in one of the ballroom acts in Vegas. Maybe he can get a job with Jeff Dunham up at Planet Hollywood once Kaval gets fired, and Dunham gets forced to go politically correct... 🤣...He'd be putting that Stanford degree to optimum use...I can tell you as a former Las Vegas local, the LAST PLACE I wanted to be in Vegas was The Strip. Hellish traffic, stupid drunk tourists, and $50 pizzas. Parking is a nightmare (if you can even get there) and there is way too much drama on The Strip. Tupac Shakur anybody? Hookers, Bible thumpers - it truly is a wasteland of humanity there. If I'm in Vegas I'm either in Summerlin (where Hughes smartly built the Las Vegas Ballpark), Henderson, Lake Las Vegas, Boulder City, or at least somewhere as far south as Arroyo in southwest. Dystopic humanity aside, The Strip is a heat island of smog that locals would avoid anyway...Either this entire A's management crew is wildly ADHD, or they are doing some really low quality drugs doing what they're doing man. This is baseball's version of a Greek tragedy...Great job as always, and keep digging my friend!...
With your "logic" the Strip and traffic prevent locals from going to VGK games. NOT 😄
@@J--F I never said they won't go to The Strip. They just need a compelling reason to - like family in town, a concert, etc. - but they'd rather not. As far as VGK goes, T-Mobile isn't on The Strip. It's just off the 15 Freeway, so coming from the Westside you don't have to cross, much less enter The Strip. Same with Allegiant. The A's would've been better off sticking with the old truck stop. But of course they are just looking for the cheapest deal they can find...
@@bartphlegar8212 As someone familiar with traffic today, I can say there is no significant difference between T-Mobile Arena just west of LV Blvd and the Tropicana on the east side of LV Blvd. And with the changes to Tropicana Ave, scheduled to be completed mid-2025, any differences will be even less significant. If you see other messages, you will note that other locals who attend VGK games view T-Mobile as being on the Strip, which is considered an area as much as LV Blvd specifically. The Tropicana site is considered by locals today as being the prime location. In addition to being accessible to locals with plenty of parking and the monorail, it is absolutely best access for the nearby hotels. Additionally, a station is planned as part of the expanded underground LV Loop, created by the Boring Company. When Wild West was thought to be the likely site, the same nay-sayers complained about the difficult walk from the hotels in the heat.
So salty
Casey, try to get Reggie Jackson, or A-Rod to your show and make them say, “im willing to buy team”
