The 100% private financing related to the construction of the stadium itself. This funding is all about the state providing money to fund infrastructure costs associated with the stadium. Oakland agreed to fund infrastructure costs associated with Howard Terminal, but they would be funding those costs from state and federal grants they have applied for and been approved. No pro sports market, except LA, has uniformly gotten stadiums / arenas built without any public money involved involved (usually for infrastructure costs). There are instances in some cities where an arena was built without public money (like the hockey arena in Las Vegas). But zero public money for pro sports venues doesn’t happen across the board in any city, except LA.
@@dorothygale1104 Even the Oakland Coliseum and Oracle Arena were funded by local government back during the 1960s... Which actually landed the A's in the first place...
Kaval lied to A's fans throughout years and hyped up the phrase "Rooted in Oakland". A lot of fans got their hope up. I'm glad he's being picked appart here.
Finally glad to see someone call out Kaval’s inability to answer simple questions. He’s a complete embarrassment to every Stanford alumni and should go back to take some communication classes.
50 year A's fan here. Kaval and Fisher have put such a bad taste in my mouth that I have turned away from MLB and now enjoy following and supporting college baseball. I am even happy to pay for the $20 beers at Stanford.
@@cuseyeti_one8three No doubt but at least the owner won't tank the team and you don't expect the kids to stick around for more than a couple of years and the best seats are only $20.00.
Good job by the legislature, of whom i am not sure of the name. He calls teh A's on a glaring issue in that the A's will not be paying, not only an 'entertainment tax', but they will not be paying property tax on the site of the stadium. Real estate on the Strip is valued in the millions per acre, so Las Vegas will lose out on thousands of dollars in both those taxes, IN ADDITION to doling out millions in subsidies, also known as Corporate Welfare.
Love that Kaval is being called out for not answering a question for the millionth time!!! Sell the damn team for lack of transparency and discrepancies
It's telling when the representative for the area where the stadium would be built seems to oppose it. He actually had a good point about equity and fairness.
Dave the Puppet shows up, without the Puppeteer - again. And he can't even answer a direct question without frothy gibberish. (Ring, ring!) "Uh, Mr. Kaval? It's Stanford calling. They want their degree back"...
Who are the tourists that are going to flock to Vegas to watch the worse baseball team in the league? That stadium they are proposing will never see a 40k gate. Not unless the casinos give away tickets, which isn’t likely! Make them play out their lease at the Coliseum.
Bruh, did Kaval have 10 cups of coffee before this? Dude looks like a psycho. Legislator asked a yes or no question and he's like 👁👄👁 Absolute clown show...
If a fucking dive bar with live music can afford their property tax and their entertainment tax then why can't the A's? Also live entertainment taxes are punitive if you're anything smaller than a 500 seat theatre
The A’s is run by some of the worst people in baseball. I wish MLB would step in and do something about it if there is a legal way of them doing so but even if there was, Manfred and those in charge of MLB are complete trash.
I've been an A's fan my whole life and I don't want the A's to move to Las Vegas, but sports teams are exempt from the live entertainment tax. If the Nevada representatives find that unfair, they should change the laws around who is exempt from the entertainment tax. That is not the responsibility of Dave Kaval and the A's to do so.
Well....gonna side with Kaval on this one. By bringing a baseball team to Vegas it stimulates the economy including this little bar that was mentioned. Of course major league teams get tax breaks....this is how big boy business is done. With all that being said I can't stand Kaval and Fisher. 🤣
You are right, but only because the A’s ownership won’t complete the negotiation over the Howard Terminal stadium. Oakland has gotten that project fully entitled, gotten port approval for the project, successfully defended opposition at the EIR and port approval level, has $375M of infrastructure funding in place with an additional $100M committed by the federal government to be paid in 2 payments in July & September ($475M in infrastructure funding effectively done) and all this done in 2 years, as the A’s didn’t focus on Howard Terminal until 2 years ago. Meanwhile, the A’s only have renderings of the Howard Terminal stadium (although good detailed tenderings) and even less for the Las Vegas stadium, as the 3 renderings of the LV stadium are so bad that they represent the stadium wholly out of proportion to the actual 9 acres they are being given for that stadium. So, nobody knows what that stadium will actually look like and accurate cost estimates can’t be determined based off renderings, especially the 3 crappy renderings for the LV stadium. So, there is no way A’s ownership can say what either stadium will cost because one needs architectural & engineering plans to cost a project. But a stadium with a retractable roof is sure more expensive and more complex to build, yet A’s ownership has no clue about how the LV stadium will be built and function. Howard Terminal is at least more straight forward of a construction project. It is not Oakland’s fault that A’s ownership wasted many years with many other sites and Bay area locations on deals that never came to fruition. But with Howard Terminal, Oakland has gotten a lot done in a short period of time only to have the A’s walk away at the end of the process with no reason given. Getting a any project on the waterfront in 2 years is very fast for any city in California and Oakland performed only to have A’s management flake out.
I wouldn't give that politician any credit here when they start talking about equity over equality. That was a pure virtue signaling to the base moment.
What happened to 100% private financing? They've been lying for over a decade. Now they are just desperate.

I mean he nailed it... disingenuous.. cant be trusted. Grifters.
Kaval and Fisher have made baseball a source of misery for me. Despicable.
That guy asking Kaval the question agrees with you.
👍
💯 same for me
Kaval the Klown. I am ashamed that I ever considered this guy a classy and respectable human being.
Simply put…NO, they are not committed to paying what is fair!!!!!
Crazy Eyes Kaval making a fool of himself
This honestly says everything
Better to take chances with expansion...
Oakland found out the hard way, about this ownership group.. Good Nevada!!😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

What a joke nothing but BS, sell the team

This was the highlight of the night for sure.
That has to be the most empty, unnecessary way to answer NO to a question.
A's need to sell stay oakland
Could have a new stadium on water front, just sad how this organization fallen with this ownership.
Love it when it's a "yes or no" question and you can see Kaval's nerdy self start squirming
Wow. Just sell the team. Got punked by a politician.
He should’ve just said No. Why don’t people just be honest? Now I hope they kick the A’s back to CA.
I repeat John Fisher Oakland A’s owner maybe Vegas owner Tennessee idk but he’s very rich man but with a poor heart

Kaval A’s eyes….they’re scary

Don't give A's money. Fisher needs to sell the team.

This take down was awesome
Hope Reggie Jackson or Dave Stewart can assemble a team of investors to take over the A's and relieve us of the embarrassment of Fisher Kaval.

Once again tax payer going to pay for the team If they are bringing a billion dollars .Why don't they build the stand themselves
I hope Las Vegas doesn’t get the team , they obviously don’t want it.
