Only overworked stressed out people can build a civilization, that's why our societies are dominated by very educated depressed people. Meanwhile people elsewhere live shorter lives, don't care much about their health(you are going to die anyway) and enjoy the little time they have.

I travelled to Madagascar 16 years ago. The people are friendly, and I never felt unsafe in Tana. Madagascar does have some of the worst poverty I’ve seen anywhere in the world. Madagascar is very rich in terms of natural resources, eg precious gems and minerals, but it’s corrupt government and international corporations that are making all the money.
@@raUser9982 That’s so sad, I mean it was an extremely impoverished and mostly lawless place even back then. We couldn’t be on the roads after sundown, as there were highwaymen that would block your vehicle and rob you. There were definitely no-go zones, but in the city I never felt unsafe. There were a lot of sex workers, (many underage☹️), but they weren’t threatening.

My friend married a French man. His father was born in Madagascar as part of the prior French administration, and he was one of the main architects that planned and built most of the government buildings.
I have been in Tana 2 years ago for some time. You really hit the spot in so many ways. I was overwhelmed by the contrasts, the struggle of poor people living on the streets, but also from the friendliness, hospitality and happiness I saw. I would definitely come back to spend more time in this wonderful country.

While I was watching your video, I couldn't help but get emotional as I thought about the times I complained about my life and still do and to see how those people live. Its amazing how they recycle anything they get their hands on. I sent a link to my mother of your video for her to watch it. She is 85 years old now, and it's amazing how she still goes on. My dad is almost 94 years old, and I feel the same about him. It's been so long since I mentioned your name to my mother, so I am sure she would love to see your videos again. Loads of countries stoop up again after devastating wars were everything was in ruins, and the first thing to do is clean up. Organize your group and find as many helping hands as possible, and commit to that free labour for some time. It improves your mental state. There's no reason to sit in rubbish and step onto rubbish daily if you and everyone around you is healthy and capable of fixing it. My family is from Bosnia, kinda a poor country, but it's at least clean. Sweeping your own streets doesn't cost you a penny. Independet from where the life lottery makes you end up. Just a thought. I'm not hating, I simply care more about such living conditions than most people here.
I am an international filmmaker who visited and travelled across Africa including Madagascar for 2 weeks. I was shooting a local documentary on landscape restoration. As this is part 1 of the series I'll refrain from leaving a detailed comment on my findings to prevent possible spoilers. BUT.... Antananarivo and Madagascar in general left me the most 💔heartbroken of all journeys across Africa. I'll leave my final thoughts on the final episode. Thank you for this. Good production. I traveled solo around Madagascar for 5 or 6 weeks 20 or so years ago. I'm glad I experienced it but it was one of the least pleasant places I've traveled. East Africa was a relief after Madagascar.
I live in a poor country, but we're nowhere near as poor as Madagascar. This is some of the saddest footage I have ever seen. I wish there was something we could do to help.
There’s poorer places than Madagascar…. Mada is rich culturally and people are still happy. There’s many good things besides the finances. But has potential I feel
I think a contributing factor as to why poor countries remain poor is because of foreign aid. Why bother improving when rich countries give you money annually? The best way to help these poor countries is by cutting off foreign aid and let them figure it out themselves how to actually make money.
I have the pleasure of calling Madagascar home. A pleasure because of the beautiful hearts of the people here and the cultural diversity. But heartbreaking because of the daily grind of extreme poverty. I always wondered if you would ever come to Madagascar.

Poverty and suffering is on America's door step. Just you wait until Kamala becomes president and what she's going to do to your country. The 10 million across the southern border that have already arrived, is just a drop in the bucket. America's SCREWED ! Brush up on your Haitian Creole skills, those skills will come in handy when your new neighbors from Port Au Prince move in. If you have pets, keep them inside.
This what I was talking about. Slums in countries varies differently. In my country, the Philippines, the largest slum name Tondo but people there even poor have access to clean water, electricity, with social pension from the government, free, Schools till college, hospital till 100% of the bills.
The main issue in Madagascar is extreme poverty, which contributes to a lack of healthcare, education, and basic infrastructure. Additionally, deforestation and habitat destruction pose a severe threat to the island’s unique biodiversity, where many plant and animal species are endemic and already endangered. Climate change worsens the situation, causing prolonged droughts and food shortages, leading to a humanitarian crisis in some regions of the country.
