'All Dressed' chips have a complex taste as they tend to hit all your taste buds. Its more of an acquired taste; but the more you eat, the more you like them or not.
What wonderful girls you have there. Glad you got to try ketchup and all dressed chips. I personally prefer ketchup, ive never been a fan of all dressed. Miss Vickies sea salt and malt vinegar, as well as hickory sticks are my two favs. Best wishes :)
The girls are adorable, and very diplomatic! Glad you all enjoyed testing some of our most popular Canadian chips! (And thanks for including the clips from the earlier tasting experiments. So cute!)
Glad you had a chance to try these flavours. We also have sour cream and chives and a dill pickle flavour that i understand not all areas of the states have access to. If you are looking for some other things to try you should look into the vachon snack cakes especially jo louie and Ah Caramel. We also have a brand called President's Choice (often shortened to PC) which has some interesting flavours especially their jalapeno potato chips. Hickory Sticks are also worth trying too.
We are not so different us Canadians and you Americans, slight nuances but we fight for the same values and freedoms and will always fight together. Thank you for making these videos, as an active military member in the Canadian Armed Forces I really appreciated your Juno Beach video. Keep up the good work! Your Canadian Friend, Shawn
Your girls are very cute! I am glad your oldest said that even though she didn't think she would like (the chips), she would give them a try. THAT is one smart girl! Sometimes you think that you won't like something because it is so different to what you are used to or it sounds strange, (& sometimes you won't like it) BUT THEN there are the OTHER times - when you may find a new taste that you TRULY love - BECAUSE you were willing to try it! Sometimes it even ends up your new favourite! (Even if it turns out that you don't like something though, at least you know what that something is now like because you were willing to try it! - right girls?) If you haven't tried "Hickory Sticks" yet, you should give those a try! They are milder in flavour & have a unique shape - esp. good with little hands - but good for everyone. Also, if you haven't tried our Vachon (brand) - "snack cakes & pastries", you may want to try them. We have some that are different from your snack cakes (& I don't think you have pastries like this?). Even the snack cakes that look like your Little Debbie ones - taste VERY different from that. Beside all the different chocolate bars we have from you as well, we also have our maple cookies & the VERY tasty (if you can find it) maple cream "confection" (SORT of similar to fudge - that is in the shape of little maple leaves.) As this is/around "sugaring off season", it may be possible to find these little "fudge-like" leaves more easily. (I think possibly even from the supplier you were using today.) (If you get it in the mail & it is NOT the consistency of fudge but harder - it is old & you aren't getting a good idea about how nice these things taste! - but they will still be nice no matter what if sucked on then.) As to the butter tarts - this is something you have to be very careful of if you want THE REAL THING! UNFORTUNATELY - there are many AN AMERICAN TREAT - being PASSED OFF AS Canadian butter tarts! I have a STRONG feeling that that is what you ate here! IF it LOOKS LIKE A MINI PECAN PIE (WITH OR WITHOUT THE PECANS), THEN IT IS A MINI PECAN PIE! REAL Canadian butter tarts DO NOT LOOK LIKE THAT! Butter tarts don't let you see the filling. They have a type of CREAMY, carmelized crust that is hard to explain. I just searched the internet for you. Go to "RockRecipes.com, The Best Classic Canadian Butter Tart" - the picture here shows you what a REAL Butter Tart looks like! (I don't know how the recipe tastes, but THAT is how it is supposed to look! ANOTHER hint that YOU HAVE BEEN DECEIVED & are eating just a mini American pecan pie tart(let) - is that there are pecans in it!!! There ARE NEVER & I MEAN NEVER! ANY PECANS in a TRUE, AUTHENTIC Canadian Butter Tart - & I say this as someone who knows & studies food & KNOWS my Canadian food! The ONLY choices in a TRUE Butter Tart are whether you (properly) put the raisins in - or leave them out. Leaving them out isn't even fully authentic, but as many people (including myself) don't care for raisins like this it DID become a way butter tarts have been made quite a lot, so it is still (fairly) authentic to have THE REAL recipe & leave the raisins out. If your girls will be able to speak enough (during breaks in the video), you should get THEM (& yourself) to review some classic Canadian children's TV shows that we grew up watching - both daytime & night time ones. You can see the differences & similarities with your own (that many of us could watch alongside our Canadian ones) & see what you & the girls liked/disliked, found different or surprising in the shows etc. (Maybe your girls will find some new favourite shows.) All the best & hope my info above can help.
Just one more thing - sometimes those that "pass off" American mini pecan pie tart(lets) as Canadian Butter Tarts AREN'T TRYING to deceive you. Not as many people bake anymore & only know about food from what a grocery store (or even a bakery) sells - & what that store is LABELLING the item as. Even some that buy these treats FOR a grocery store from a factory call the item a Butter Tart because that is what they are being told they are. They may not even see the treat for themselves when they order them or may not have grown up on authentic baking from childhood themselves - to know that there is a HUGE difference between a mini pecan pie & a butter tart - never mind ever seeing what authentic early Ontario butter tart recipes look like.
As acting intern manager of your girls, I'm insisting that 2/3 of the profits of this video goes to their piggy bank. Great job girls! Enjoy! My grandkids don't like the fact I only keep plain chips handy.
Now you need to try some of are maple cookies, maple syrup, and are chocolate is pretty good too. Like smarties, coffee crisp, etc. It's awesome seeing Americans taking a liking to us up here in the North. Much love from my family to yours 🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦
Totally off topic but i caught the end of the Islanders/Hurricanes game while waiting for the Canucks/Nashville game to start tonight. So sorry for your loss. Also, a local station just put out a video about "The history behind the Canucks' White Towel" - rally towels are now used all over, by all sorts of sports fans, but it started in Vancouver. I still have my 1982 white towel from the Canucks/Islanders Stanley Cup final! Thought you might like to know. lol PS: I think ketchup chips are gross. 😆
Im inspired to suggest two dishes (deserts!) from Québec you could have a lot of fun easy cooking with these young ladies! Pudding chômeur (poor man’s pudding) was created at the time of the Great Depression. Grand-pères (grandfathers) are also a sweet bite, origins stories vary and often both made with maple syrup but which can be replaced. Great fun to see the girls enjoying!
Yum, All Dressed and Ketchup chips. Love the Old Dutch Brand, too. Your daughter Leila reminds me of one of my sons who likes bland foods. Plain chips, plain hot dogs, etc :)
Thanks John and girls for trying two of our most popular potato chip flavors, for me personally I love the Lays ketchup chips. I'd love to see what you and the girls think of some of our chocolate bars and other snacks, like Hawkins Cheezies and Hickory Sticks, both are amazing. Thanks for another great video, please keep them coming.
All dressed crispers are actually better than the ruffles chips but all dressed anything is better than the others. Lol there's a Canadian show called letterkenny and they discuss the top chip flavor. Pretty funny
If you want another Canadian brand of chips to sample you should try Hardbite, their ketchup and all dressed flavours are more intense IMO. They also have flavours like spicy dill, wasabi ranch, and ghost pepper for the brave. They also do carrot, beet and sweet potatoe chips as well.
I’ll take Lays Ketchup over old dutch any day. Gotta be careful with eating too many as they will destroy your mouth though. Ruffles all dressed are my favourite hands down……. Well Miss Vicky’s sea salt and malt vinegar might actually be the best chip.😉 Great video! Cheers from Rob in Warsaw Ontario. Keep them coming. Love your content.
As a Canadian I grew up and ate Old Dutch long before Hostess and Lays showed up. I loved Old Dutch but have always found them inconsistent in the amount of seasoning. One time you would get a flavour explosion, the next would be a bag of mildly flavoured plain chips.
Treasure those girls, I'm sure you do ! John, you are a cool, good guy, but in a video, you take a backseat to your daughters !! Kids are just on there own wavelength, so funny !!Great video, loved it !! As for Ketchup chips, I actually prefer the no name brand from Superstore, much less powder, which I like.
Old Dutch is originally from St Paul Minnesota. They established a completely separate Canadian devision in Winnipeg Manitoba in the 50’s. I’m glad to see that you’ve chosen their ketchup chip as your favorite. I have to agree. You must try Old Dutch salt and vinegar chips. As far as I’m concerned that’s their best flavored chip. Growing up on the border in northwestern Ontario I remember Americans bringing them home by the case, including my cousins from California every time they visited. To this day they are my personal favorite out of and any flavor from any company. I believe that both the ketchup flavor as well as salt and vinegar were exclusive to the Canadian market.
You missed 2 Canadian classics, Hostess Hickory Sticks and Hawkins Cheezies. These are both favorites of mine and have been for many years. I like all dressed but not if they're too heavily coated, same with ketchup. Thanks guys!
I'm quite sure that the name 'All Dressed' is taken from the same term we use for 'All Dressed Pizza'. All Dressed pizza is tomato (pizza) sauce, cheese, mushrooms, pepperonie and green peppers (some use red peppers; but to me green is traditional).
All dressed chips combine the four original classic flavours. Salt and vinegar, ketchup, sour cream and onion and bbq though some brand now only use three.
So fun to watch your video, tastesting with yoyr sweet girls. I always love video of trying canadian snacks, and foods. Love this ☺️❤️. I myself love lays brand other brands. My favoyrite are roast chicken, and smokey bacon. Yum 👏😋
To me (I'm 55) Old Dutch is a scouring powder for the bathroom and bottles of bleach. Same brand, same logo. I only started seeing Old Dutch chips in the early 2010s. Personally, I find them to be of a lesser quality than the other mainstream brands, and they are often on special where I live (NOT out West, where Old Dutch rules). Lays are really good, but usually cheaper by about 1$ than the more expensive Ruffles and Doritos, and Lays are mostly straight-cut thin chips. We also have proprietary chip brands by each of the three main grocers. Some give you the old basic chip flavors, and some go out of their way to be exotic and pump out Asian, Latino, and US (Buffalo Wings, Southern BBQ, Pizza, etc...) tastes. The rest of the shelves have smaller brands like Ms. Vickie's, and
Hi all. Enjoyed watching you try a few snacks glad you enjoyed them. Btw I also have my phd in chipology 😂 cute enjoyed seeing the girls again, they are growing! Have a fantastic week🫶
If you like the Kit Kat bar, you should compare a Canadian one and American one. I was surprised many years ago grabbing one at a gas station in Washington and thought, you know I used to like these more. Next time I had one in BC I liked it. Really enjoyed this video. Your beautiful girls added a special touch. Being Canadian, I really didn’t understand why ketchup chips were so popular….until I tried them. Never thought I would say it, but they are good. 👏👏👍🇨🇦
You picked both my favourite type of chips All Dressed and my 2nd least favourite Ketchup. There is a type of chip that is just called Hot that I tried one time, it was hot as anything all right but didn't have any real flavour to it.

Looks like old dutch is an american company. If you want a great canadian snack. Hawkins Cheezies is where it's at. My Grandfathers favourite. Mine too.
Personally I'm not a fan of those flavours, you should try hickory sticks (I'm not usually a fan of smoky flavours but these ones are good) and some of the different Canadian chocolate bars Fyi some of the ones you have in America taste different than the ones here in Canada Like Reese's Peanut Butter Cups and I think KitKat it's chocolate tastes different here I suggest Coffee Crisp(you probably will like this one but your girls not likely), Mr. Big, Oh Henry (my favourite is the verson with reese's peanut butter), Caramilk, Crunchy If you can get them kinder surprise eggs you might have to have someone ship them to you already opened or come over the border yourself to get them because for some strange convoluted reason they are banned in the states (not because there is an issue with the chocolate itself) There are a few others but I can't think of them atm
i think kerr's chips are from the states and they do ketchup. i spose i gotta needle you to try halifax donair too... be aware, some fakes are out there, in some places they throw ranch dressing on em, a shooting offense round these parts. maybe moon mist, tiger tail or grape nut ice cream(apparently also popular in jamaica)?
If I remember correctly, you're in Upper New York state; correct me if I'm wrong please. Why not take a trip across the border, if you want goodies you'll find loads of them in some of the small towns right near the crossings. Vachon cakes, chioocolate bars, bakery items, its all there.
Hi Reggie. I am a New Yorker but not upstate. I live on Long Island so it’s a hike by car to drive to Canada but I’ve done it a few times. We are closest to Montreal as the crow flys. I’ve been to Niagara Falls, Niagara on the Lake, Toronto, Quebec City. I want to see all of the Great White North now though
I'm Canadian and I do NOT like either ketchup chips or all-dressed! I prefer plain, or BBQ, or sour cream and onion. Do you have these? Have you tried them?
lays bought old dutch and hostess many years ago and it was never the same hostess was the best and old dutch won the west then the american company lays fucked it up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You have to try Hostess Hickory Sticks chips, they’re my favorite.
And Hawkins Cheezies.
Your girls are so cute! Thanks for trying some of our chips, now you’ll have to try our chocolate bars!
John, you've raised some very nice kids!! It was fun watching you trying the chip flavours!!
This is one of the channels I upvote vids before watching because I already know I'll enjoy it.
Ruffles All Dressed are hands down my favourite!
Sour cream and bacon
The best inside a Tuna Sandwich or the best on any sandwich!! 100%
Number one selling chip in 🇨🇦
Keiras little facial expressions are so funny
Yes they are big sis.
'All Dressed' chips have a complex taste as they tend to hit all your taste buds. Its more of an acquired taste; but the more you eat, the more you like them or not.

Chips off the old block.
Someone had to say it.
The girls are adorable, and very diplomatic! Glad you all enjoyed testing some of our most popular Canadian chips! (And thanks for including the clips from the earlier tasting experiments. So cute!)
I'm glad you enjoyed the treats. My problem is I like them all. Hi girls from Canada 🇨🇦

You nailed the problem with chips, one is too many and the largest bag is not enough.......😅

@ 3:10. ahh yes ketchup and potatoes. You should check out Stompin Tom's "The ketchup song" in tune with this lol
Great family video .
IF YOU EVER GET TO MONTREAL YOU HAVE TO TO TRY MONTREAL SMOKED MEAT SANDWICH. TDHATS A TREAT YOU WILL NEVER FORGET.
Ketchup chips are not for everyone. Some love them, some think they are "ok"

Hawkins Cheezies with a Coffee Crisp bar...!!

So many more Canadian snacks you need to try.
LOVE this! Hah!
You are welcome to my home in Saskatoon. Bring the family! Hah!

Covered Bridge chips are the best.

I'm not fond of the All Dressed; but, do like the Ketchup Doritos. Also like Miss Vickie's Spicy Dill Pickle.
Old Dutch created both the Ketchup and all Dressed flavours long before Lays brought them to Ontario (Old Dutch is western-based)
So fun to watch your video, tastesting with yoyr sweet girls. I always love video of trying canadian snacks, and foods. Love this ☺️❤️. I myself love lays brand other brands. My favoyrite are roast chicken, and smokey bacon. Yum 👏😋
Next thing to try is a Saskatoon pie. (Called Serviceberry in the US) We usually see them at the end of July, when Saskatoons are ripe.
To me (I'm 55) Old Dutch is a scouring powder for the bathroom and bottles of bleach. Same brand, same logo. I only started seeing Old Dutch chips in the early 2010s. If only the USA didn't ban kinder surprise. If you haven't tried them y'all should 🇨🇦
Hi all. Enjoyed watching you try a few snacks glad you enjoyed them. Btw I also have my phd in chipology 😂 cute enjoyed seeing the girls again, they are growing! Have a fantastic week🫶
You need to try Coffee Crisps, Aero bars (and let it melt in your mouth) and Hawkins Cheezies and maybe Hickory sticks next.
I was eating a Tim Hortons Canadian Maple donut while watching your video. LOL (it's similar to a Boston Cream donut but it has maple icing on top.
If you like the Kit Kat bar, you should compare a Canadian one and American one. I was surprised many years ago grabbing one at a gas station in Washington and thought, you know I used to like these more. Next time I had one in BC I liked it. Turns out Americans are brought up with a more sugary chocolate in their products and friends down there preferred it. I like ours which to me tastes more chocolaty. American chocolate cannot be sold in Canada as there is an ingredient in it which is banned in Canada and that is why they taste different.
I'd also love to see how you would find a comparison of Kraft Dinner Macaroni and Cheese vs the American version and also try PC's White Cheddar version too. Yyour girls are sweet and adorable
I saw the left twix vs right twix commercials. Those were a while ago, though.
Lays ketchup chips are sweeter than Old Dutch.
Really enjoyed this video. Your beautiful girls added a special touch. Being Canadian, I really didn’t understand why ketchup chips were so popular….until I tried them. Never thought I would say it, but they are good. 👏👏👍🇨🇦
All Dressed!!!!
You picked both my favourite type of chips All Dressed and my 2nd least favourite Ketchup. There is a type of chip that is just called Hot that I tried one time, it was hot as anything all right but didn't have any real flavour to it.
All dressed chips are the best and they get better the more you eat them it's almost like a cumulative effect
I'm only in Ontario, next door.
You should Dill Pickle chips they are good as well.
ofcoirse the kids love the lays more... more sugar...
butter tarts episodode I missed.. essentially what you are eating is a small shofly pie, from what I am tolfd same ingredients
Looks like old dutch is an american company. If you want a great canadian snack. Hawkins Cheezies is where it's at. My Grandfathers favourite. Mine too.
Love them but soooo salty. Can only eat a few at a time
@@denisegreene8441 I don't find them any more salty than most potato chips but I guess my love of grandpa probably makes me overlook that lol
You and your girls are so cute! John stop I can’t afford diapers lol 😅
Personally I'm not a fan of those flavours, you should try hickory sticks (I'm not usually a fan of smoky flavours but these ones are good) and some of the different Canadian chocolate bars
Fyi some of the ones you have in America taste different than the ones here in Canada
Like Reese's Peanut Butter Cups and I think KitKat it's chocolate tastes different here
I suggest Coffee Crisp(you probably will like this one but your girls not likely), Mr. Big, Oh Henry (my favourite is the verson with reese's peanut butter), Caramilk, Crunchy
If you can get them kinder surprise eggs you might have to have someone ship them to you already opened or come over the border yourself to get them because for some strange convoluted reason they are banned in the states (not because there is an issue with the chocolate itself)
There are a few others but I can't think of them atm
i think kerr's chips are from the states and they do ketchup. i spose i gotta needle you to try halifax donair too... be aware, some fakes are out there, in some places they throw ranch dressing on em, a shooting offense round these parts. maybe moon mist, tiger tail or grape nut ice cream(apparently also popular in jamaica)?
A good trip would be the NWT so your daughters can see the Northern Lights aka Aurora Borealis
Lays are a division of PepsiCo.
If you want really good all dressed chips definitely go with no name,
I'm Canadian and I do NOT like either ketchup chips or all-dressed! I prefer plain, or BBQ, or sour cream and onion. Do you have these? Have you tried them?

Ruffles all dressed don't compare to the presidents choice fully loaded all dressed chips way more flavour in the president choice
Also poutine with gravy! Also our pecan thanksgiving pie is the best in class here. Also Maple Syrup on Pancakes with Vanilla Ice cream is the bomb!
