Using A SD Card As A Hard Drive

In this video, I show you how to use a SD Card as a Hard Drive in Windows 10. Many new computers come with small SSD (Solid State Drive) hard drives and it's easy to run out of space. By using a SD Card, you can add another hard drive externally. This video show you how to do that!
Using Windows 11? The procedure is the same right up to where you set where new content is saved. In this case, you still search "Storage Settings" but when that window appears, choose ""Advanced storage settings." Once that opens, you'll see "Where new content is saved."

I am going to purchase a SD card for my laptop soon and mount it to my laptop following the instructions from this video. I do have
one question. what is the difference between using a standard SD vs using a Micro SD?

Thanks for your comment. I'm sorry for the delay in answering. I was moving! Ugh! Anyway, a micro SD card is a physically smaller card. For many computers, you have to use an adaptor because they don't have mini ports. You might see what I mean by visiting amzn.to/465TfUd.

Just bought a SFF Win11 PC with a 250GB hard drive but does have the microSD card slot with bluetooth, wifi and four standard USB ports including a USB-C port (suprisingly, and puts to use the USB-C to USB-C cable). I use 128GB microSD and keep all documents and programming code on the sd card. While 1TB micro SD are price >$70, a 250GB micro SD is prices around $20. Dejavu upgrading a PC with a new hard drive or second drive, this is a lot easier and less frustrating.

Thanks for your nice comment. Unfortunately, on the Chromebook, you can't use the SD card as a second hard drive like in Windows. You can, however, use it as data storage - you just have to move things there manually instead of automatically. ~John
