    Wait till you truly Quest Pro Pancake. I just tried Project cars 2 and iracing. I was just speechless and did not even race stranding in awe watching how amazing it looks. It just blows away GT7 PSVR2 which I sent back on 4th day. I am so glad I pulled the trigger on Quest Pro and with a 4090 beast its end game. Although I am with less organs and probably need to work long hours for next months to cover this all...lol

    I just got VR (Quest 2 because you suggested it) the other day, and last night and today I was able to put in some practice. I absolutely love VR racing, no number of monitors will be able to approach it. My FPS were around 70-71, with popping audio (not sure what caused that), but in re-watching my laps from different camera modes I notice the car very briefly tearing/popping or whatever it was doing. It's very immersive, as a racer or spectator, just hoping I can figure out how to make the experience smoother.
    My specs:
    32GB RAM
    i5 cpu
    RTX 2080 Super

      Awesome! It's so hard to understand how good racing in VR is until you race in VR. You should be able to run pretty good with that setup. If anything, depending on the i5 generation that might bottleneck a little. You might just need to play with the iRacing settings until it runs smooth with no drops. Is your Quest 2 set to 72Hz? Have you also played with the resolution setting for the headset?

      I want to get the Quest 2. I have same setup, just a Ryzen 5 3600, 32gb ram and a 2080 Super. Im getting a cockpit and thinking about 3 monitors or the quest 2. But I dont know if it will run smoothly. I've raced with triple monitor on my destkop (it renders something like 5260x1080 resolution and I had about 120fps with no problems)

    I am really about to press the "buy" button for the Meta Quest 2. I have a 10700k, 32gb ram, 3070ti - I think it should work. Back in the days I had the HTC Vive (with a TitanX) and that already worked pretty good. I really wonder if I sould wait for the next VR-Generation or get the Quest 2... BUT I am into iRacing now and I am pretty sure that the new generation will need a more potent Computer than I currently have. So my plan is: Quest 2 --> Direct Drive Wheel.
    The main problem that I have with all sims is that I used to race go-carts back in 1991-1994 and no simulation ever up to this day gave me the immersion of the real thing. I still remember the the smell of the 2stroke engine, the brutal power, how the tyres felt, how hot they became! Sometimes you very shaken in your seat and one or two times in a race we built up so much grip that the cart raised completely and you had to be careful not to flip it (which I once did). I remember the lots of marbles in the corners and as kids we had fun picking them up. We admired the older and better drivers. It was the best time and I am thankful to my dad that I could be there. I even raced with Lucas Luhr, Timo Bernhard (whom I didn´t recognize at first when I some years ago saw him on television because he was such a small boy with bright, blond hair), Andre Lotterer whom we all secretly accused of cheating but looking back MAYBE he was in fact that quick :)
    Anyway - everything that can bring back these memories is very much appreciated and I think that VR is definitely a the right step.

      I would definitely think the Quest 3 will bring great improvements over the Quest 2 but why wait when you can have fun racing right now. But that's just me. You need to spend your money in a way that is smart for you.

    Hi … I just got a quest 2 today for $130 almost new on Facebook market…🥸
    Tuesday arrives my bundle, and cockpit.
    Intel i9 9900kf , 32gb RAM, 1 tb SSD, nvidia Gforce RTX 3070 …
    How far could we go with this ???
    Could you share your exact setups for 1.5 and 90htz please 🙏🏼…
    Newbie on this but VERY EXCITED!!!

      You should be able to get a nice picture out of it but I don't run 90Hz. I run it at 72Hz so I can push everything to the max and 72Hz still feels smooth to me.

    I have a i7 13700 cpu, and a 4080 GPU. I just tried VR for the first time with the quest 2 and ran it at 120hz and only at 1.0 or whatever the default setting was and it wasn't that good, very bad screen door affect. So I'm definitely going to try and play with those numbers for better graphics, because if it doesn't get any better, I might have to try a whole new headset.

    • @thecasualracinggamer
      @thecasualracinggamer  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      At a 1.0 resolution, it is not going to look good. Especially if you are also trying to push 120Hz. Lower the refresh rate and raise the resolution. It will make a huge difference. You should be able to run full resolution and high graphics in iRacing without a problem by just lowering the refresh rate. 72Hz, 80Hz, and 90Hz will all feel smooth still.

    • @HizenHerz24
      @HizenHerz24 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@thecasualracinggamer I did play around with those numbers last night and did get it to look better, but it still just isn't that great. I paid a pretty penny for that graphics card, so to use VR and only get about half of what that gpu offers just isn't worth it to me. I'm hoping a better headset will change my mind. Thanks for the tips though, love the videos.

      @@HizenHerz24 Nothing ull do will make ur quest 2 great, and unfortunately, no competitior is doing any better. Not saying something like the neo link isn't better, but it's not great either. Atm, if you got the funds, best to stick to triple monitors, cause it's prob gonna keep being the best solution for about a decade. VR rn is more like the cheap alternative to running a triple screen setup.

    This may be a stupid question but... I don't understand how my graphics card could help if my Quest2 headset is connected to HDMI in the motherboard...
    in iRacing I see blurry in the distance and it's not perfect with 57-60fps... I have an i7 and 3080ti with 32g ram

      Quest 2 doesn't hook up to HDMI. It's either USB-C or USB-A.

    Cool Video thanks, I have had a quest 2 for awhile now but prior setup i found was on low end to run it decently, Now this will be interesting and I will absolutely come back and comment after I set my quest 2 up and run it a bit (need to fine tune the graphics options as well as any additional overclocking I need to do to the CPU or GPU). CPU is i7-10700K set so it runs 5.2Ghz all cores 32 Gb DDR4 3200 ASUS ROG STRIX RTX 3060 Ti V2 OC 325 Watts Max Power (runs with GPU Clock at 2170 MHz and Memory Clock at 19200 MHz) Nvidia's specs are listed as 1670 MHz GPU clock and 14000 MHz Memory clock and 200 watts Max Power.

      @@thecasualracinggamer So there is something I must have set incorrect as I should not have the CPU (R I think is letter) bar maxed in red while the GPU (G I think is letter) Bar is barely visible and only able to to run at recommended settings 72 fps and a Low resolution 1.0 (do not remember exact Res Numbers) but as soon as I solve this I will share what I found

    • @thecasualracinggamer
      @thecasualracinggamer  ปีที่แล้ว

      @James Vining Yeah. Generally I would say you have bottleneck issue with your CPU but since I have the same CPU I know that can't be your problem.
      What happens when you turn up the resolution to 1.3x or more?
      You can change those bars to show actual numbers which is better to analyze. Then in your renderDX11 ini file change FullyWaitFor Sync to = 1. This will then update the number in real time. Otherwise it will just hold on like 12 if you don't make this change.

    Dude I've followed your video and the another video you've put up. Any ideas why mine looks like garbage? I'm on a 3060 gpu 12th gen i7 and 32 gb ram. Not far off of you. It looked great at one point few months back but idk what happened. Do you ever use the oculus tray tool? Mine looked 10 times worse than when you say this looked bad lol what other settings could or should be messed with?
    In what order exactly do you connect up as well? I fire up oculus on pc and I have tried openxr and all that but then connect oculus and then start I racing.

    • @thecasualracinggamer
      @thecasualracinggamer  ปีที่แล้ว

      A 3080 is a lot more powerful than a 3060, but it should be able to look okay. You won't be able to pump up the resolution and bitrate as high. You will probably get a better picture from a headset that uses a display port.

    Hi! I recently got a Quest 2 to use for simracing and i've been having trouble getting my head around using VR with iRacing. I worked out the oculus software and how to adjust graphic settings from there but how do you start the game in VR? I connect my quest to the computer using a link cable, then launch the sim using the iracing gui from the "monitor" view in link but something seems off. For instance it doesn't let me activate the SPS setting which i have heard is a gamechanger.

      Are you starting out with your Quest 2 hooked up to your PC through link? Then launching everything through your headset after choosing desktop in your Quest 2? Then when it asks what monitor to use, choose Oculus.

    How are you getting the iracing app in the Oculus interface? I can only seem to get it through the way you say it's like going through steam, which I'm not doing. Open vr, xr..

    Why didn’t you try maxing out the resolution at 120? It looked like you had the headroom to at least try.

    • @thecasualracinggamer
      @thecasualracinggamer  ปีที่แล้ว

      I've tried to max it out but it's a trade off of how much you want to lower the settings in iRacing.
