Thank you so much for this video, I was so ready to throw away my tail light since the batteries died and couldn't figure out how to remove the cover and change the batteries, very helpful..!!
Dave, you saved me! I was about ready to smash my flare light with a hammer because I couldn't open it to change the batteries. This video was super helpful, thank you! Ride safe.
Just bought this set myself. As you were, I too was worried about breaking the tail-light's mount. Your video helped out. Thanks man. Happy and safe riding!
Great video & a huge thanks for sharing because I had the same issue with taking the clip of the back light and trying to figure out how to charge it as well, since it was given to me as a gift but without the box.
After over an hour of trying to figure out how to change the position of the light from vertical to horizontal and searching everything I could under Bontrager, I stumbled upon your video and had the problem resolved within 30 seconds. Just PUSH !!!!!!!!!! Many, many thanks. But now I'm not sure which position I prefer !!!
Took back the Ion 35. An 8 dollar LED flashlight actually puts out more light than this thing does. Took it back and bought a Niterider Mako 150 for the same price and the Niterider is 5 times brighter. Trek (Bontrager) is just resting on their name. sad because I really like the look of the Ion.
I don't like the front light at all. My CatEye was stolen with bicycle.. This front Bontrager ion 35 is a piece of junk. Switch stuck, light remained on, and now after putting new batteries in, with zero instruction on which way they go, no + or minus signs to show how.. .now the light doesn't work at all... I am going to tell everyone of my experience with this piece of trash front headlight.
Thank you very mucu fot this video. Your documenting helped me open the tail light to change the batteries.

This was amazingly helpful - I’ve had this bike light for an embarrassingly long time and couldn’t figure it out... I appreciate the help!
Thank you! I'm having the exact same issue with the Flare 1. I hope it doesn't break.
I just purchased this light the flare installation was kicking my butt LOL......thank you
Thanks man. I couldn't figure out how to replace the batteries and now I do. :)
Thank you for the info!
The only way I could get that clip off of the tail light was to put it on the ground, and put my weight on it. Thanks!
Came here because I also can't remove the clip !! Thanks, I will push harder!
I can't SEE what you're doing and I cannot determine how to get the ion 35 put BACK together…UGH
Thank you

Is it water proof?
