    Great video. I wish more people would accept the Danish Gambit. But people KNOW it's dangerous lol.

    So far I've won all the games I've used the Danish gambit. The problem is they accept less than half the time.

      The main line is 3...d5 and is regarded as being slightly favourable for black. This is one of the reasons why the Danish is so rarely seen. Surprisingly, the naive looking 3...c5 is also quite good, typically transposing into a Sicilian (Alapin or Morra declined). After 4. Bc4, I would strongly recommend any black players to head for Göring Gambit territory with Nc6 and d6 rather than taking the pawn on b2. These lines are generally good for white but still quite playable. If you play the Danish looking to see every pawn get taken and reach the 19th century positions, you will be playing in the U1200 bracket a long time.

    White is not up a minor peice AND a rook as you say in the end...it is just a minor peice up.

    Love this video, Evan. Any chance for a Ryder Gambit video? I usually transpose into the Blackmar-Diemer as an e4 player when my opponent hits me with a Scandinavian and I love getting the opportunity for a Ryder Gambit, but they don't always fall for the Halosar Trap. You made a Blackmar-Diemer Gambit video as well as a Halosar Trap video like ten years ago, but never a Ryder Gambit video.

    Does anyone have any tips on how to remember all of these traps and stuff? I always forget the moves

    • @eklektikTubb
      @eklektikTubb 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      To memorize the opening lines, i prefer extreme openings, either too dynamic or too static.
      In most dynamic openings, i add "purpose information" to move notation and make it a story. One example Classical Caro-Kann: white pawn to e4 attacks d5 square, black pawn to c6 neutralises d5, white pawn d4 makes a cenral pair, black pawn d5 attacks white pawn, knight on c3 defends that pawn, black pawn capures, white knight recapures, black bishop f5 attacks the knight, knight on g3 attacks the bishop, bishop moves to g6 blocking the knight and pawn to h4 besieges (plans to attack) the bishop.
      In most static openings, i like to memorize the final position after those moves. That is a bit harder, but it could be useful if playing transpositional style (changing move order to get the same position).

    How do you continue if after Bxb2 black moves Qe7?

    • @chesswebsite
      @chesswebsite  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I would play Nc3. The threat of Qb4+ attacking the light square bishop is pretty annoying. You also introduce the threat of Nd5 which protects the b4 square and attack the now weakened c7 pawn.

  • @jimlang7461
    @jimlang7461 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    what about 5...Bb4+ or 5...Qe7 or 5...Nf6

    • @chesswebsite
      @chesswebsite  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Bb4+ I would play Kf1. The Danish is often not about king safety. Qe7 and I'd go with Nc3. The threat of Qb4+ attacking the bishop is annoying. Nf6 and I would push forward with e5 to keep up the attack.
