    At 10:30 you forgot to mention one important aspect of theory... You have to say "Oh NO ! My Queen..." after knight e4 to ensure that your opponant buys it !

      yess,, I love the psychological aspect of chess tournaments - trying to get opponents to fall into your traps. Like a quite ugh no or an exasperated moan when you offer the bait.

      @@mjfolkerts because they don't know how to play Stafford. If it was Eric Rosen or Me I can beat you easily. They only rely on the lines if the opponent decides to not follow the lines they'll get confused and don't know what to do. The Goal in Stafford is to continue to make unlimited threats so your opponent will have a headache finding all the threats and will eventually fall to the trap. Those players you've encounter are probably beginners at Stafford.

    Also, what if white's fifth move (at 0:55) is pawn to f3? I thought black's best response is to move the knight Nh5, but then white responds with g3. What should be black's response now? Alexander Høst not really that’s a very inactive square for the queen

    • @alex85hst
      @alex85hst 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Tunneling Weasel I agree, but you’re basically just losing a tempo because you need to move the knight away. Then white can protect the pawn and I just feel like black has lost momentum.

    been watching these "Kevin from the Chess Website" vids for a while now...before all the twitch streaming etc...bare bones, well explained...simply layout...just the basics of great chess instruction before going down the rabbit hole of Finegold, Nakamura, Brahs, etc. lol... (all of whom are great too, btw)

    I'm quite new to chess but at 3:35 couldn't white queen move to C1? Please could someone explain to me why that would not work? Like I said I am new to this side of chess and want to learn.
    Thank you

    At 13:46 I would hate taking back the pawn opening lines against my own king and throwing away my developing advantage. I’d suggest keeping the attack going with ..h5 with the idea of putting N or B on g4 and opening the h-file.

    I had an interesting game today. e4, e5; Nf3, Nf6; Nxe5, Nc6; Nxc6, dc; f3. This was also recommended as the best move by the engine. What would you respond to that?

    I’ve been working on a stronger defensive game lately. Like setting up traps. All the people I run across and play they are 100 aggressive and are always on the attack. What’s starting to happen as I get better with traps is,they walk right into them. I’ve gotten pretty good at settling up wind mills. A rook & bishop working together is pretty damn deadly.

  • @georgekaufer6738
    @georgekaufer6738 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    In the Nc3 variation, white doesn't have to play g3 to attack the queen. He can just capture the e4 knight and eliminate the threat of Qxf2

      If they play Rf1 I'd probably go Qf6 instead of Qh4. The h4 square is better if they decide to castle.

    Hi! There's a scenario I ran into that you didn't discuss; i was hoping to get your thoughts. If white accepts the gambit then brings a pawn to d3. Then black brings the bishop out, as you suggest, can't white just bring pawn to h3?

  • @INRSuperChat
    @INRSuperChat 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    After 3:50 white is in a great position. Bxg4 is a threat, white can castle and push f3 and black loses a piece. I don't understand what black gets by paying that particular line.

    3:01 why do you have to move that pawn first? Why not just pull the bishop out to g4.

    I've been wondering. What if white plays f3 after black takes the knight on c6? It protects both the pawn and the black knight's advance. Would it be better to just accept being a pawn down and continuing on?

    • @chesswebsite
      @chesswebsite  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes. You will need to be aggressive and they do have a slightly weakened kingside but right after f3 you are definitely down a pawn and have to react accordingly.

    Love the video and this gambit. Looking for feedback to a move that was done on me which flipped the direction of my game and ended with an L.
    Moves are as follows starting after the gambit has been accepted at move 5 for white. Kc3, Bc5, Bc4(this is ultimately the move by white that throws a 🔧), Kg4, e1-g1, Qh4, h2-h3, Kf2, then Bf7 for check by white. How do you play from this position? If I do king takes bishop then rook takes knight for check again. Now in a really bad spot as black and next move by white brings Queen into game leaving king pretty much wide open.
    Would love feedback.
    Thank you :)
