I was 145kg. Now, 68kg. No loose skin due to intermittent fasting. Also, intermittent days with no protein. Clean carbs only days. Skin is protein, my theory was the body would "eat" my own protein. It worked! 6yrs maintained! Now 52yrs! And, my skeletal muscle mass has remained stable! Had medical oversight & regular blood tests. And, I'm hypothyroid. Took 18mths to lose weight! So do you mean, for example... Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays are intermittent fasting eg 18:6 Windows with little/no protein and clean carbs only (veggies, wholegrain) days?? Followed by something like a Tuesday, Friday just regular intermittent fasting days and weekends a bit more relaxed eating patterns? I'm really interested to know if I've understood correctly. I'm trying to incorporate physiotherapy prescribed exercises for other health conditions. I've just finished watching a Thomas DeLauer video that says the scientific evidence points towards reducing food intake on exercise days AND to exercise in a fasted state, fueling ourselves on our rest days (that's when muscle growth and repair occurs) there was quite a bit I didn't really understand but I do know I'm less hungry aftere xercising and ravenous the next day so that makes biological sense.especially if I made that rest day a 'clean' carb day
I get really bad headaches on OMAD. So started the 5:2 and love it. I have 2 eggs, 2 cups of veggie/bean/chicken breast soup, a sugar free yogurt and some mixed nuts.
I love 5:2 LOVE IT!! Been doing it for a year almost. Lost the 20+ lbs I wanted. I eat more or less what I want on the other 5 days. Would have probably dropped quicker if I had been more mindful the other days, but then I might not have stuck with it. Consistency is key. Would recommend this to anyone looking for a flexible diet lifestyle, maybe if you have kids and want to all eat the same etc. I couldn’t stay consistent on the LCHF at all

This sounds very doable. I'm going to try Monday and Thursday. Hold my calories to no more than 500 on those days. Got to cut back on sweets too as I'm weak in that department. I only need to lose 10 lbs but it's been hard to get with a plan to make it happen. Bad news is tomorrow is Monday. Ha.
10 years ago I made my own diet:alternating 1200 kcal and 2000 kcal, 3 meals a day. Some kind of IF, I guess. At that time I had no idea about IF! Long story short:in 6 month I lost 16 kgs, no lose skin. I have to mention I was working 9-17, no time for gym. My weight was stable for 8 years without any diet, eating consciously-ish. ☺️. I fast about 19/5 Monday to Friday Last meal is on Friday around 6pm I skip Saturday Eat Sunday about 6pm, which works out to 48 hours fast. I eat carnivore / keto when I do eat
I did 5:2 a few years ago for 11 months & lost 3 stone. I’d recommend gradually introducing exercise into fasting days which further increases weight loss.

Did anyone lose their menstrual Cycle doing this? I did this about 10 years ago and it was extremely effective! But I lost my period, and was afraid to continue it since. I want to do it again, but maybe I can tweak it somehow to protect my health and hormones. Advice is welcome!
Some info I have seen says that you should be totally fastened and not eat at all during a real fast. Do I still get the benefits from fasting if I eat the 500 calories during fasting? Thanks for great content

My daughter 42 has been diagnosed with a goiter and hypothyroidism which is not treated yet only suggestion has been to remove the thyroid. She has small capillary like veins showing all over her legs and feet (I call then spider veins) her legs look red from a distance but up close lots of little red veins. Do you think these might be associated with her Thyroid? Her GP thinks not and is puzzled and her Endocrinologist is puzzled as well.
Get her taking these things every day. Diatomaceous earth. Natural calm brand magnesium. High doses of vitamin C. 8 to 10,000 mg a day. Start this diet ASAP.

I've been doing this for a couple of weeks but I didn't realise the fasting days weren't meant to be consecutive!

For fasting days, we often make ratatouille. A gut-filling 2 cups equals just 300 calories and 18 net carbs..
