  • I built an entire set of eight Octobans from PVC pipe. Here's my tutorial. I also created a rack on this video to mount them on.

    The hardest part of this kind of thing is finding pipe measured in outside diameter. Most pvc is inside diameter for flowrate calculations. So if you buy pipe, beware you may need to double check outside diameter because you may find that you buy pipe that says it’s the size of your batter head, but it turns out to be a different size.

    • @hoochrocks
      @hoochrocks  5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Right, that's why I mentioned that in the video also.

    Very interesting. I would like to have seen videos of marking and drilling the holes for the lugs and the U clamps. Also showing what you did with the bearing edges. A page outlining parts and costs of parts and where ytou got them would also have been useful. Ive just seen that ou can buy a set of 4 ready made octobans (high) for £123. and low set for £175.on line How does that compare to buyig pipe and all the parts and heads and work involved?

    • @hoochrocks
      @hoochrocks  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      My assumption is that anyone taking on a project like this can use a tape measure to mark holes. I also discussed the hardware below with links to www.drumfactorydirect.com The pipe cost will depend on where you purchase the pipe, so it's up to the builder to decide if they want to build or buy something pre-made.

  • @patrickstar8509
    @patrickstar8509 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    How much would you say it would cost to make 6? And also are they able to be tuned higher and louder? And did you also put 6" heads on 5 inch pvc pipe? I just want to make sure i get the correct head sizes.
    Also great video and very helpful. I've been trying to find a video like this.

    • @hoochrocks
      @hoochrocks  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, 6" heads on 5 inch pvc. It's been a few years, and the pipe supplier you purchase from will determine that piece of it. The rims, lugs, heads are all listed on the drum site I purchased them from in the description, so you can do your closest estimate. I guarantee though, it will be MUCH lower than a new set.

      Pipe is always specified by inside diameter because the spec is based on how much flows through it at a given input pressure. A plumber can then calculate the outside diameter by that and the wall thickness for clearance purposes.
