This video has pushed me to switch from dual exit to single exit 🤝🏼💪🏼

Hell yeah. I love mine. I’m just not a fan of quads or duals on a 4cyl. Some sound good, but I personally hate the way they look. Lol

Get a midpipe and it’ll sound awesome.
I have quads and a 2j midpipe. It sounds the same hahha, I get small pops though.

I have the full exhaust from the header back. All 2J.

Did you run into any fitment issues during the install? Mainly regarding clearance between the flanges and the subframe between the control arms, and overall swaying of the muffler once everything was mounted.
I had just installed the same 2JR catback over the weekend (to the OEM midpipe) but had to make a few tweaks:
    - Had to get new bolts to mount the first segment to the midpipe, since the provided bolts were the wrong threading for the OEM midpipe's welded nuts, and the OEM bolts+springs were too long to clear the 2JR pipe bend next to the flex joint.
    - The center pipe segment needed an inch longer exhaust hanger because the OEM hanger caused the rear flange (connecting to the muffler) to come into contact with the subframe. We managed to lower the angle enough to give like 0.5" clearance between flange and subframe.
    - There was still a significant amount of swaying from the fully installed catback that caused it to occasionally bump against the subframe; we ended up jerryrigging some metal strapping behind the muffler to keep that section firmly in place while driving lol. (Did all this at home, haven't had a chance to have an exhaust shop check things out yet)
So I was just wondering if it was just a 'me issue', a one-off issue with the specific kit I got delivered, or if other people had run into the same problems

I actually had 2j install everything and we built the rear tail section on the car while I was there. Since I lived kinda close by to them, I asked could they just to everything on the car since they build the rear section per application anyway. So we did everything there. I kept checking and wiggling the exhaust as they kept building it so I made sure no rubbing or hitting anything. Also upgraded to the stiffer hangers they sell.

Which mid pipe from 2J are you running?

  • @tee92721

what does it sound like without the midpipe? is it still a deep tone? i did the super loud car stuff w a tuned and fully straight pipes mazdaspeed3. so i don’t want the midpipe. i like the single exit look more than the dual

There’s no such thing as no mid pipe with the corolla hatchbacks, because they are a solid one piece welded together from the cat back, so it’s get a cat back exhaust or stay stock, the obx exhaust is a center exit cat back and it’s not much louder than stock but is lower toned with some grunt, that’s what I have, because I couldn’t hear my exhaust over my engine lol but didn’t want a “performance” exhaust on a lil grocery getter, and to top it off they are almost always on super sale for like 200-250 bucks

If you don't mind me asking... You mentioned on FB that you had issues with the sensor behind the grill hitting the 2JRacing intake. How did you remedy the fit to keep the CAI from hitting the sensor And setting off the code for the collision system?

    • @ChunkyBoyD
      @ChunkyBoyD  ปีที่แล้ว

The filter has it where you can turn and angle it different directions. Like maybe a 15 or 22 degree bend in it. I turned it away from the sensor. And recently I made my own bracket to help the intake not vibrate around so much. I posted that in the forms yesterday.

Just search for the Greddy single exit and 2j Midpipe. I did the exhaust with a resonator on it.

It ranges. Some I was going all the way out to redline. But most the time I was shifting in the high rpm’s just so you can hear more exhaust noises.
