Seriously everyone is NOT remembering that Ahsoka HAS the power to commune with animals and beasts (IE. TALES OF THE JEDI) Her first encounter was with an Akul to save her mother's life.

Cal can do it too. Anakin calmed the execution beast in Episode II. The force isn't split into personalized powers. Some Jedi have affinity for certain applications. Any Jedi can use particular powers, with the right talent, intuition, training, and/or emotion.

I thought the Fog of War was used perfectly. It really expressed the chaos and confusion Ahsoka felt on the battlefield during the clone wars and added to the thematics of this being a vision/dream-like state. Visually I thought this was a perfect episode.

Honestly I think they should have Hayden on new projects to teach newer actors some good saber combat. Obviously individual styles and forms should still be respected, but one of my primary critiques of the ST is the deeply mediocre saber choreography. I'm one of the few who actually mostly enjoys the ST, but gods the saber fights were so aggressively mid.

I think people are too quick to give ahsoka grief for not just blindly forgiving anakin. She feels that she failed him yes. But she also knows everything he went on to do. The lives he took and the damage he did to the galaxy. It doesn’t surprise me that part of her seriously resents anakin. It’s so complicated…

    • @Bakuru
      @Bakuru 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

I think what she did was arguably more tragic. She just suppressed it completely. And herself along with it. I think she never even gave herself the chance to sort through her emotions because she just stopped trying to feel them after that happened. That's why her initial run training Sabine went wrong, because she behaved completely different than normal, and didnt give herself the chance to "mess up". She ironically behaved similar to thr Jedi that she left all those years ago. People don't really realize how much she loved Anakin, and what his dark run did to her.
Back after the Mandalore seige, she was going to JOIN Maul initially to stop Palpatine. She fought him PURELY out of the disbelief that Anakin would turn. Then he did. And when she saw it, she immediately was ready to die to try to save him.
This was what she needed. To understand that
1, his actions as a sith doesn't change whk he was to HER and she can still take that at face value, and
2, just because he made that mistake, doesn't mean she will. And if she tries to avoid it at all cost, she IS making the mistake he did.....

I hear a lot of jokes about Hera bringing Jacen with her on this mission. And I totally get it. I was wondering why she did that myself. But then I thought: what if she brings Jacen with her simply because she cannot leave him with the New Republic. Since she's gone rogue a little, they can easily take him and Hera couldn't protect him that way. But now she can. And she was very protective this episode.

Part of what I really love about Ahsoka this episode is her learning to see Anakin as her Master again and not just as the man he has become (Vader). Getting rid of that guilt she felt for not being there for him and realizing the good that was once in him is still within her. It really reminded me of the Luke vs. Vader fight, despite everything Vader has done, Luke still could see the light/good in his Father and I think Ahsoka needed to learn that as well. I've seen some complain (🙄) about this being just member berries and didn't propel the plot but for me personally it was just such a great character episode for Ahsoka, especially if you've seen Clone Wars and everything she went through with Anakin. 100/10 episode and VISUALLY probably the best live action Star Wars to date.

It wasn’t a dream, she was on the verge of dying, and her soul went to the WBW where Anakin was waiting to help her overcome her demons before living again. He thought it was PTSD from the clone wars but it was also guilt from him becoming Vader that she needed closure on.

  • @JustJoe24
    @JustJoe24 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +14

I think she 100% was in the WBW. Anakin is essentially the Father from the mordis arc, Ahsoka basically the daughter. Plus, if she was *really* floating underwater for hours, she would definitely had been dead by now. I think Ahsoka as a character WAS faltering and lacked conviction and was on the border of accepting death, yes, but Anakin pulled her into the WBW to see if she was still willing or ready to live and to teach one final lesson, which was in that other comment I made in the video

"One of my least favorite Star Wars races, is this big-beaked mutherfucker..." -- Christian
CONGRATULATIONS, Gentlemen, on getting the increased acknowledgement, views, and subscribers over the last 2 weeks. It's much deserved. Hugs, Guys...
"Shadow Warrior"...that's quite a title, and just as colored by multiple interpretations (for the viewer) as was, "Fallen Jedi". Dave Filoni at his best...as usual.
Great reaction, Gentlemen. After 12 hours of reflection, here's my interpretation: After Baylan's strike, Ahsoka never hit the ocean...her Master, Anakin Skywalker saved her, sending her to TWBW, to get "one last lesson" (a la Kanan/Caleb with Ezra...poetry)...by now, Anakin has attained god-level powers (even surpassing that of Darth Sidious), and took his Padawan on a kind of Force vision quest...hence, why We didn't see any portals on the plane Ahsoka and Anakin were standing upon...this was a separate portal created by The Chosen One...the lightsaber duels were real (yet ethereal at the same time)...so real, 10-year-old Jacen Syndulla, the Son of Kanan Jarrus/Caleb Dume, was able to (with his unique, nascent powers...Reverse Force Echo, or Force E.S.P.?) "hear" the battle between Ahsoka and another Force-user (maybe Anakin knows how powerful Jacen is and will be, and was aware that he could hear their bout in this intermediary region of The Force?) under the ocean...It seems the planet Seatos has mystical properties to it; which is why Baylan mentioned an "access (or axis) point" at the shrine on the planet's surface...perhaps that entire area is fraught with points of access (hence, its use by The Rakata or The Zeffo, or some other race We haven't encountered yet), especially for Force-users like Anakin, Ahsoka, Baylan, and even Jacen?...Let's face it, Folks, whether Jacen ends up just being an ace pilot, who is strong in The Force, or Jedi Knight and/or Master -- he is something special in the world of The Force...I think he can even project/transfer his thoughts and perceptions in The Force to others close to him (like his Mother...she certainly heard the lightsabers clashing)...After Ahsoka contended with the hard realities of her past (witnessing Anakin and Lord Vader morph in and out of each other, then returning to the redeemed Anakin of ROTJ), and learning that she has nothing else to fear and regret, Anakin sent her back to the planet, slowly immersing her in to the ocean, with Jacen, his Mother, and the X-Wings already aware of her whereabouts. Truly, Anakin saved his Padawan in every way, that evening...
Now, Ahsoka is on her path to becoming Ahsoka, The Jedi Mystic Of The Force. Perhaps, within that realm of The Force, where time and space have no consequence, he bestowed upon Ahsoka ALL that he is as a Jedi, and thus, becomes officially, Jedi Master Anakin Skywalker. As you said, Rich (Jedi-in-hiding, apparently, based on your hoodie), already, Ahsoka's demeanor has changed within 12 hours. By the end of this series, Ahsoka will become more and more like the Ahsoka We saw at the very end of Star Wars: Rebels. It should be quite a thing to witness in progression.
Of course, I would've preferred to see more (REX!) flashbacks (due to the leaks and rumors, which I didn't listen to much), and hear more of an actual conversation between Master and Padawan (maybe later?)...but, I liked that We saw the action above and below at the same time. Besides the INCREDIBLE visuals (The FX!!!), the biggest highlights of this episode, to me, were the truly glorious live-action interpretation of Anakin Skywalker (I think Hayden Christensen is deserving of an Emmy nomination) -- from both The Clone Wars and The Prequel Trilogy -- and the excellent character sketch of young Jacen Syndulla as a remarkable Son and Force-sensitive in The SWU. That gives me the most hope for the future of Star Wars...
BTW, I love the new decor of your set, Guys...you've got a Bespin ice-cream holder! Nice R2-D2, and, I love the Clone Trooper helmet...is that an original creation, or does that distinctive design belong to a specific Trooper I don't know?
P.S. Can We all appreciate what it will be like, if/when We get to see Ahsoka, Luke, Leia, Grogu, Ezra, and Sabine working together to save the galaxies? WOAH, BABY! That Dave Filoni-directed movie is going to be something truly special. And, We've still got The Bad Batch (Season 3/Final Season), Skeleton Crew, and Mando (Season 4), before that.
May The Force Be With You, 716th Attack Legion. Onward to greatness... 🎖👍

This was Ahsoka's redemption story in the same way Obi-Wan's was in Kenobi. They both bore the grief and guilt felt of being the one to let Anakin down, and Ahsoka's question of knowing nothing of being a true Jedi, but only a general, was what showed in her character since Order 66. Her reluctance to train Sabine was the fear of only showing her how to fight, and nothing of the true philosophy. She comes back from the WTW restored, and Anakin did complete her training in knowing when to put the light saber down. Just as Obi-Wan had to forgive himself, and, in a sense, Anakin did, too, when told that Anakin destroyed himself. Unburdening themselves of that guilt (and in a similar way to Obi-Wan helping Reva forgive herself for not doing more for the other younglings) allowed them to move on, and restore their own balance. Thus, Obi-Wan ready to see Qui-Gon, and Ahsoka "the white".

It wouldn't be much of a lesson if he wasn't holding back. He never intended to kill her. He just poked and prodded until she gave in and chose to live. She didn't beat him at all. He let her win so she could finally understand the lesson. Obviously, she would never win a real fight. I mean, she literally used the same move that he used on dooku. You can't seriously tell me he would let someone use his own move like that on him, unless it was intentional.

When you said "I didn't know robots could have emotions" it reminded me of something. I've watched all of star trek, multiple times, all of it lol, and read books. Star Trek is very much about what is life, what is justice, and so on. There's Data, the Doctor (a hologram) and various beings that literally have a whole episode about "are they a person". So when Force Awakens was going to come out, that's when I first started watching Star Wars, me and my sisters did a Star Wars marathon to prepare for it. When Star Wars: A New Hope started, and Luke was buying C3PO I was like, "Oh, these robots are clearly sentient and alive, I guess Star Wars is going to be about the liberation of androids from slavery" XD Then the robot slave they were buying dies from overwork and Luke's just, "let's get the other slave instead then!"
How wrong was I, I've have to separate my Trek Brain from my Wars Brain and just... ignore it... because the nicest greatest people will totally use ppl (like C3PO in the sequels) and it's even a funny moment for them haha.

15:27 Btw, did you know that according to “Bespin Bulletin” there was a fight scene shot between Anakin (as Hayden Christensen) and Ahsoka (as Savannah Steyn instead of Ariana Greenblatt, at least for that scene) on Mustafar in an alternate-reality-like setting during the "world-between-world like" moments, which they said was cut from the actual episode? In that scene Anakin would have showed her that she couldn't have changed his fate to become Vader even if she were there at that point, which would have taken away a lot of her guilt of her not having been there and not being able to save him, resulting in the now more light-hearted Ahsoka. They cut that scene, maybe cause it wasn't really a memory and/or cause Anakin's message/lesson was a different one? Though I still hope they would release it as a separate video on YT or sth like that, cause I would really like to see what that scene (and Savannah Steyn as Ahsoka) would have looked like and it also explains a bit better imo why Ahsoka is more enlightened and happy at the end.

I know I’m probably wrong in my theory but I think that’s Anakin force being obviously post Return of the Jedi after Luke defeated him and once he died and restored balance to the force idk why I feel like he has the capability of playing into both Light and Darkside since he has been both and was the one who restored balance upon his death. He’s just that powerful, also I like the call back to him telling her that he’s heard that before line that she said because it’s the same line the Luke told him in their last battle that he wouldn’t fight him.

There's enough of you to get the Theater Experience to watching these shows. Star Wars is meant to be a group shared experience. Not to be watched alone, with headphones and pause buttons. The experience needs to be Cinematic. Your reactions bounce off each other and multiply what you are feeling! THAT is what makes Star Wars great! Thanks, guys!

  • @Bacontats

New subscriber. Great reaction guys :)
Idk if Ahsoka was on the verge of death. I don’t think we can suspend belief that she was in the water for hours upon hours and didn’t drown or freeze to death.
I’d like to think she was transported to the WBW, similar to how Kanan was transported in Rebels Season 2 when he was in the temple but then got teleported to another dimension to fight the Temple Guard / Grand Inquisitor and become knighted. He was still at the temple, but also not?
That’s how I interpret this with Ahsoka.
Jacen heard the lightsabers, as did Hera.
I think when Ahsoka was done training and chose to live, she was transported back via the Force (similar to Ezra and Kanan in their respective Temple journeys in Rebels Season 2).
Her choice to “live” or “die” I think was more metaphorical but also literal. She didn’t want to become Anakin. She wasn’t living in that sense. To be, or not to be, that is the question. Choice. Live, or not. For so long she didn’t want to be. Didn’t want to be a Jedi. Didn’t want to be like Anakin. Didn’t want to train Grogu, etc. She chose to not be.
But that caused her imbalance and now she is balanced with Anakin’s training.
Even if I’m wrong, the face that Star Wars is back to more mythos and vagueness with the Force is dope.

What I took away from the lesson was directly what Anakin said. She failed to realize that Anakin was more than just Vader, and she herself was more than just a soldier. Anakin is the culmination of several amazing jedi masters, and Ahsoka is as well. Both of them are more than such simple terms that she categorized them as, and Anakin seemed visibly insulted at her comment about him being so powerful and dangerous than what people realized, implying the Vader. "is that what this is about?" wasn't some flippant response about him killing children, it was a disappointment at her essentially insulting hers and his Legacy, selling them both short. Like, both of them are more than the tiny black and white box she has put them both in, in her mind. (i made this exact comment on another video, sorry for the copy paste haha)
