- This Video is one about my favorite Zoot Sims recording on Pablo and a few other “gems’. Zoot (John Haley Sims) was either a leader or sideman on hundreds of recordings. I feel thee Pablo record issued from 1979-1865 we among his very best. He had some great groups and some interesting sidemen (His older brother Ray was a sideman(trombone) on “The Swinger” and played great!

I referred to a great review of WALTZ for DEBBIE done here on You Tube by Scott on the Pressing Matters. Here is the link.
• Bill Evans Trio Waltz ...
I could not have said things better. Scott was spot on. Unless there is something really necessary, I leave the reissue discussions s to others who do them great. I try and stick to the things I think are interesting and most times not reissued yet( but a lot should---Chad at Analogue Productions-HOW ABOUT A ZOOT PABLE ROX…. Maybe 45 RPM?) - เพลง
Hi, Jack, greetings and thanks from good old Europe, thanks for your higly informative videos, such as this one. Zoot Sims is my favourite saxophonist, and - I‘m proud to say - my Zoot-Pablo- collection seems to be even bigger than yours. I completely share your enthusiasm for Zoot, and wish you a very happy 2024.
Great video jack I have a couple of zoots and a few Pablos now. Thanks for your info.
The only Zoot album I have is "Zoot at Ease" on the Famous door record label. It has some tracks where he plays soprano sax, which he didn't do very much.
Hi Jack, I would like to add one beautiful record of this time: "Blues For Two" with the fabulous Joe Pass....
agree good record--Pass plays great... his one for me was on the bubble but probably should have been included( trig to keep the video about 30 minutes!.. great recommendation for everyone!-thanks for watching and commenting--JG
Hello again Jack ,
I have been hanging out for this one . Zoot is so wonderful in the way he can swing a song and caress a Ballad.
The whole series on Pablo I have and can't live without . Zoot and Jimmie Rowles are amazing with the repertoire of tunes they have to fall back on . The sound quality is top rate all the way .
A little while before Zoot got to Pablo are a few things for Hank O'Neil on Chiaroscuro with Dave McKenna and an incredible session with of all people Joe Venuti , if you don't have it chase it down , I love it CR128 .
Zoot bobs up on Soprano on Pablo with your favourite Ray Bryant and that goes in for me .
Thanks again, with Zoot we all keep swinging.
I need that on with Bryant--I've heard it streaming and its good.. Thanks for the note on the one with McKenna---I'll look for it too. thanks again JG
@@Jackgrahamphotograph Jack , look for Dave Mc Kenna Quartet on Chiaroscuro CR136 . Great tune selection too .
thanks for the video Jack !!! 👍
..... an we appreciate you watching !--thanks--JG
And don't forget the soprano album!
Great video, as always. I have a few of Zoot’s releases on Pablo. My question is this, we’re all Pablo releases in mono? I have the 1981 release of “I Wish I Were Twins “ but the album doesn’t state either or. Any info you can shed?
I believe they are all stereo.... a few say stereo on the record label(below the catalog number)... I'll do dome more digging for you!--Thanks for watching and for the interesting comment...JG
