    Guys, I've been doing these exercises everyday for almost a month now. It is incredible how much stability, mobility and VOLUME* it gave to my shoulders. Not to mention the pain that is almost gone. When I was sleeping, specially, I felt like I was a bag full of lose bones when I turned. The shoulders grinded, snaped, and hurt a lot. I'm getting my freedom back and slowly getting back doing exercises which is something I love. Dr. Adam is the man and knows what he is doing. I can't thank him enough.

      Milton!!!! I am with you man. This is such great news. If you haven't yet, start with the videos 1 through 4 which add weights. If there is any ligamentous damage, keep working shoulders and do not stop. Enjoy the strength

      When you say volume, do you mean muscle mass? When I tore both my rotator cuffs I lost a good bit of muscle mass in the very top of my arms and in my shoulders.

    Doctor, first i would like to say that the exercises and the way you present them (positive attitude) helped me a lot more than physiotherapy sessions, cortisone injection and orthopedic doctors. Since i injured my shoulder and stopped going to the gym, small tear on superspinatus, I started having torticollis episodes. The tear is also connected to a constant pain on my upper pec muscle. It's been 4 years incidentally since then 😂 and the pain persists. I'm hoping with more exercise and correct posture this will get better in the upcoming future. Thank you for your knowledge, spirit and professionalism.

    Thank you so much for posting this. I have been following you since the TMJ video. During the quarantine this is so so helpful. And I think rather than picking up dumbells and damaging my shoulder further, this has come to my shoulder pain rescue. It's so much work and I can feel the strength. I really cannot thank you enough. I follow you neck video too. My neck feels it has stood straight for the first time in these years. Thank you so much.

    I've been to six different physical therapists here in Norway for the past eighteen months. The exercises they gave me kept making my shoulders worse. In the end I gave up because my shoulders had gotten so bad. And then I found you (courtesy of TH-cam). I do three of your shoulder videos daily, and they are perfect for my condition. I've seen your four part strengthening videos, and I'm moving slowly towards them - not taking any chances. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for posting this. Wish you were nearer so I could come for a consultation! But this is a great start for me. Stay safe, and thanks again!

    Dr Fields, I have a sternum imbalance. Left side sticks out more than the right. I had a left A/C shoulder surgery this year and feeling a lot of scapula and neck/head realignment. Is there anything I can do to try and align my chest? I often have a hard time finding zero, if my head, shoulders, spine/chest formed a "t".. Thank you thank you thank you for all your neck stretching and breathing relief exercises (as well as this scapula stabilization video :-))

    Dr Fields:
    This series of exercises for the shoulders is truly excellent. I see you have a video dealing with knee exercises for arthritis, do you by chance also have a video dealing with strengthening, and mobilizing arthritic hips?
    Thank you very much in anticipation.

    • @dradamfields

      Hi Colin,
      Yes! Look at my 90/90 video and the massage gun for hips video. More videos to come on that though.

    • @colinhenry2487
      @colinhenry2487 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hello Dr Adams:
      I have followed you along in your 90/90 video, unfortunately, I am unable to get my legs properly into the 90/90 set up position, so I have to modify that position as best as my hips will allow.
      Not sure a massage would do anything with the Arthritis though.
      Please do produce more videos dealing with hip arthritis very soon.
      I do get a lot of benefit from Low Back & Core Stabilization on the mat video, especially when adding hand weights. It is a whole new level with the hand weights and I think it very beneficial. More of this please - you are onto something special with these prone exercises with added weights.
      I see you use aspects of Dr Eric Goodman's work which I too have followed since it first appeared here. It is excellent.
      I am doing your Shoulder or Low Back & Core Stabilization every day with significant benefit.

You could even check out the core playlist and help your scapula communicate better with your hips. Strengthening the antagonistic muscles to your traps will help relax your traps.

      With a labral tear, you are going to be consistently doing these exercises, on some level, forever. You are going to have the most beautiful arms. Add some Class IV laser therapy and/or some PRP and a lot of muscle work to the mix and you can get some strength back. If it's really back you may need surgery but most do okay without.

    I’ve tried a lot of different videos since I hurt my rotator cuff and I love this one! Thank you! When I do the last exercise, the butterfly, I start feeling pain when my arm is about 50-60 degrees from my body,. I can push through the pain and get to 90 degrees. My question is how much pain should I tolerate while exercising for the sake of strengthening the muscles?

    • @dradamfields
      @dradamfields  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Good question. With a rotator cuff tear or instability, avoid pain but keep exercising. Just modify! If you are sore after, ice for 15 minutes. Glad you're getting benefit. Eventually graduate to my other shoulder videos.
      When it comes to impingement, we can go into pain a bit.

      It sounds like it is hyper-mobile. Try and really pull your shoulder blades down toward your hips and do the circles more slowly. It will take some time but as you strengthen, and refrain from push-ups and other more risky moves, the shoulder should move more smoothly. Dr Adams: You speak about how Gymnasts Stick their chest out to protect their backs in this video, however, I spoke to a former Gymnast about this and apparently many of them suffer from injuries as a result of this technique particularly so in later life. So what does the science tell us?

    • @dradamfields
      @dradamfields  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Colin, I, currently, have 2 male gymnasts coming in my office that are both top 10 in the country. We say that you only get so many hard landings in your lifetime. Gymnasts are loaded with them and it takes a toll on their bodies. Anatomy tells us that in the back of the spine are the facet joints and, you are absolutely correct, those joints can take a ton of stress from the sport and from a hyper-lordosis (what I am encouraging in the video) However, in the front of the spine are the intervertebral discs. These are protected by the proper curve in the spine. The proper curve in the lumbar spine is between 35° and 40° but most people in the world tend toward's less of a curve rather than too much of one and end up with disc problems like herniations and degeneration. So, all that being said, we want a curve that has strong glutes, abs, obliques, etc. In this way, the structure and the muscles surrounding the spine are optimized for strength, mobility and function. Many in Pilates would call that a neutral spine but, while exercising, I tend to go more into lordosis than they do so that when in the real world we swing back to a neutral spine. Kind of a mouthful but I really appreciate your question. I think I'll do a Q&A video and add some studies based on your question. ; )
