- In this video I show you how to easily run Fallout New Vegas and Fallout 3 on your android phone or tablet using Winlator! THIS IS NOT CLOUD GAMING Or Streaming this is basically emulation and with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 or better you can play these games at 60FPS. Running PC Games on android is pretty simple when it comes down to it but does require a bit of set up. Fallout 4 on android also works and my tutorial is coming soon.

It's amazing we are at this point now. Yeah, I know Fallout 3 is pretty old, but it is a massive game.
Microsoft should be porting some of these games to mobile already. I have been waiting and wondering but it looks like smarter people beat them to it.
@@robertlawrence9000 Definitely. It is baffling that there isn't at least a Switch version of FO3.
@@fattiger6957 They'd rather remaster skyrim for the five millionth time instead of games people actually want to play
you should see how GTA V, Cyberpunk and even RDR 2 are running on Android, your mind will blow off for sure.
You can even emulate GTA V, rest isn't that important. And pretty decent performance too! Imagine it natively working with a proper port.
Bizarre to be seeing these games running on phones.
Bro everything makes me sad LOL The world has and is progressing to fast for me.
@@chilledburrito too true
@chilledburrito what?
This stuff makes me want to see a Ryzen APU like 8840U somehow cramped into a phone, making a Windows 11 gaming phone. That would change everything.

EDIT:- For anyone wondering what device does this emulator work on? Use Snapdragon powered android devices for the best support, performance and compatibility. Anything above snapdragon 860, will play most PC games, both old gen and latest, with acceptable fps and best compatibility. For playing highly demanding games like Cyberpunk and GTA V at smooth fps, one needs at least snapdragon 7gen2 or above processor. Old gen games like IGI, Diablo 1, 2, AoE 2, can be played on weaker devices.
And yes, both steam and pirated games work. 😉
Thank you
exactly what I was looking for thank you, but I have not gotten Tomb Raider working yet
Update, You need it in Comp for install then can switch to Perf after
You got all those to work in Winlator? That's dope!

It is also probably worth mentioning that the error "Exception EAbstract..." which occured at 10:23 was exactly due to Box preset set to performance. For me that error always occurs when trying to setup games via such installer. Luckily "Box compitability" fixes it, and games themselves would usually run on "performance" with no problem.
Thanks for this. Switched to Compatibility and am now installing New Vegas.
This needs pinned.Had to do this since the error didn't just poof away and continue to load like his. Thank you.
Thank you comrade

my friend, you're so going to heaven!
I was having this problem since Mobox and tried to test it on Winlator and you solved in a comment!

AWESOME!!! I've been waiting for this kind of thing for so long! It's amazing how far mobile devices have come! I'm surprised that classic games like these haven't had official ports to Android yet. These game studios are leaving money making opportunities on the table.
Because to port x86 games to arm, they basically have to remake the whole game. No point in doing that, starwars KOTOR tried already and they barely sold anything on mobile.
@@cfilorvyls457 No it's not remaking the whole game. They could even emulate it like other systems use emulators for various platforms. That's how many backwards compatible games work.
@@robertlawrence9000 then you can forget about having decent performance. There's a reason ps3 emulator took so long to get done and even now it's not even close to perfect. The reason winlator on android works is because linux can run arm instructions natively and they're using it to translate the instructions from x86 to arm with linux as middleman. This project has been decades in the making, it's not a trivial thing.
Phones had the capability to do this thing from long ago. But the big companies brain washed us completely by giving us trash p2w and f2p games.
@@D_Rac_Onis they didnt lmao we barely even got n64 emulation perfected
Missed this kind of content, glad to see you doing it once again!
I use it to play WOW all the time, the performance has gotten SO much better since version 1.0. I have wanted this for years, so I was so excited when the developer first released this. It's only going to get better going forward with new versions and faster SOCs!
I was waiting for that from last winlator video. Nice!
this is crazy that were finally able to do this
Not finally. You can even run GTA V
Winlators been out for like a year now. The cool thing is that there are other options too, with Mobox and an upcoming one made by the Skyline devs called Cassia coming later in the future.
Thanks for pointing out how to get the installation set. I've been a GOG user for a long time, and never knew about that feature.
Well I am playing ps2 games on my Android phone for a year.
It's crazy how far the technology evolved.
Great video! Can't wait to see what the performance looks like on gen 3. Would be curious to see it running in Dex

Gut Damn. I've been waiting for Windows emulators to get to this point. I've been working on Androids almost exclusively for the past three years, and while most mobile apps are fine, I've been missing some of my vector graphics programs and FPS games.
This is freaking AWESOME! Thank you!

Would like to see an dedicated video comparing Linux Deploy, AndroNix and Winlator for local desktop gaming on modern Android chipsets from Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 and newer.

Hope you find a way to run Steam games in Winlator, nothing fancy I'm okay with 2D games. Btw nice vid
What a time to be alive 🤯
Already installed a Winlator desktop to my Anbernic RG556, just yet to attempt any installations within it yet. Will give some GOG content tonight and see how it goes!
The AYN Odin 2 has the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. Definitely going to try this on it
Thank you! I have it running at a smooth 60fps on the Pimax Portal
That's some good fps, wish to see more of this with variety of pc games. Would be nice if it works for mmo game or lan game
That's really cool that you can play Fallout on Mobile now. :0
Ooo I might use this for my S8!
Has anyone had an issue where the splash screen for new Vegas doesn’t load? I was able to install it but when I click the icon to open the program, the splash screen pops up for a second and immediately goes away. Any help would be appreciated
Same for fallout 3 it just opens the launcher for a second then closes it. It doesn’t open the game
Same for fallout 3
I tried to open it but it flashes the initial opening screen then immediately shuts down
Wow pretty neat i tried this on my s9 ultra tablet looks great on its huge screen. Works perfect with an xbox controller. Crazy what these mobile devices are capable of these days

Amazing thanks for you content.
Nice ETA, can you do Modbox next?
Finally u showcase it
I finished Mafia 1 on my Redmi Note 10 Pro using Winlator roughly 1 year ago, it’s the best emulator out there I must say
It is WINE for Android , is not really emulating 👍 it is a compatibility layer , so that Redmi 10 is really good 😁🔥👍
@@YetiMusicCity ah yes, I don’t know how all this works, really :)
More of games need to be ported to arm. The next generation of pc handhelds with arm would be great for battery life
If I try to launch any of the two fallouts, the window appears but closes itself before I can even see or click anything
This is honestly quite the breakthrough.
cant wait to see you do the re/compile of the n64!
Hello @prime . Can I do this install from my tablet. I don't have access to a Windows PC?
Great video thank you
What a wild time to be alive
box86 library rewriting architecture is super fragile and version-dependent, it can run Fallout but can't run C++ Hello World on Debian 12 :D
Nevertheless, a very cool project.
I have a S20 FE. Only played one game expecting this to not be real.... and can confirm this WORKS!!!!!! Mind is blown right now. I do not have a pc so i had to do everything from my phone with unzipping some games i "own".
Im going to try this on my OnePlus 12 to see how it runs :D
It's WINE / DXVK for Amdroid , that means is not emulation 👍 But just a layer.
Dont forgot box86 that translates the cpu
Really goes to show how much power is packed into these phones now
Thanks for the tutorial!
Can you run Fallout with the DLC ?
I want to run my old save filé, but Ive been playing with the DLCs.
Does It work with widescreen devices ?
I've managed to launch Beyond Good & Evil on Xperia 5 IV with Snap 8 Gen 1. It's working at 30+ FPS, 720p, low settings. This game actually doesn't support gamepads, but Winlator has solution for that as Virtual Gamepad and it works great. Thanks for a video, it was very useful.
I don't know what the PC and console publishers are thinking, Android phones can run modern day 3d games at respectable fps.
Please if possible, show us how to configure a controller. I am running on an Odin 2 with built in controllers. I’m trying to play games like oblivion but it requires a mouse or to use your finger. If I could map that to a stick, I would elated.
I actually got an error when I put both on Performance when trying to install a game, but when I went back to Compatibility I was able to install Fallout: New Vegas just fine and play it. I put it back to performance after installation and it's been working, so far, even though the game is glitchy and has booted me back to Winlator a few times.
Cool, haven't tried it since version 4. Does mouse and keyboard work for RTS games ?
Yes.
support this project if you can.
Redmagic 8 pro is your daily driver? If so, hows the network coverage in USA? I really wanted a poco or a realme phone but the networks here dont support or it'll support only data but not calls/sms. I'm on at&t right now btw but i'll switch if needed
Game doesn’t launch after setup. Why is it? It just opens the launcher for 1 sec and then closes it??
I think this would run better if you set LowSpecGamer's Fallout 3 game ini settings, possibly go full 60fps on combat albeit with horrible looking graphics. But heey if you just want a on the go Fallout PC game without lag and stutters it would suffice I guess.
It would be awesome if Tales of Two Wastelands (Fallout 3 and NV in one game) to work on it
Maybe it's possible.
if you can play fnv with this, ttw should run for sure. ttw/fnv works fine with wine and dxvk. i guess the heavy part is the ttw installer, but you could do that on your pc and only copy over the finished files (they already recommend this if you are want to play on a handheld like a steamdeck)
@@robertlawrence9000 first you gotta get the fnv script extender running on it, then i imagine its smooth sailing from there
Wow that's awesome give it a few years and we can play gta 4 and 5 on mobile hopefully
Already can, gta 5 works for this method too and gta 4
First🎉🎉❤❤❤
No one care😠💩😠
fingers crossed for the gen 3 update goddammit.
I used another emulator for that in the past, but it only ran older PC Games like on Fallout Tactics level well. 🌞
Is there a link to the full written instructions on how to do this? I'm a complete noob at any kind of emulation and not really savy abou modern gaming. But I have an s23 ultra and a portable monitor. Would love to learn how to play games like these offline with that setup, and would prefer to follow the instructions in print than constantly pausing and starting a TH-cam video.
PLEASE post an update when the version of Winlator that works for the Snapdragon 8 Gen3 goes live!
Yeah, he made a whole vid about using a modified version of it, but no link to it xD
Pretty pretty pretty good
Dude, I want that PIPBOY 😳
How long until Snapdragon 8 gen 3 support is added? I want to try this on my s24 ultra asap!
can you try music production software like Ableton live and fl studio
Im gonna try running fallout 3 on my old galaxy s8 soon
I hope some company releases old titles on phone like from ps2 og xbox games on phone i think they can work fine and dandy
winlator crashes on my galaxy s23 ultra when I hit run on the container.... what should I do?
Holy cow! 🤯 I wonder how this would run on the s23 ultra wow
I'll try this tonight and maybe try pushing textures to medium and locking it at 720@30
Also for this interested I have the base model s23 ultra with the lower ram. I'll see how this plays today I'm also gonna try editing the ini file and make the game render at the screens full 720 p resolution to fill the screen which for the s23 ultra is 1544x720
@@L319HV Thank you. Keep us posted. I have S24 Ultra. If things go well from your side I might give it a try.
@@crimsonheart1949 yeah it worked flawlessly between 40-60 fps I might lock it to 30 fps.
Very cool that this is possible but ill just bring my steam deck around
I just installed Half-Life! Runs like a charm.
Do you still need device compatible with drivers developed for snapdragon 855 in Microsoft phone duo? I think all Adreno 600 series graphics card works on that.
I'm really hoping they will support my phone's chipset more which is the mediatek chip set as of now I can't run any programs or games at all. I haven't tried fallout 3 but I just wish it would support more then just snapdragon chipsets. Hopefully in the future it will have more mediatek chipset support.
I used a phone with a mediatek chip not too long ago. It's not like it can't play stuff. I played RVGL on it, and Dolphin emulator. The thing is, their GPU drivers are just not very good, that's why they're not very well supported. Does Winlator not work on it? I returned that phone so I can't try it on there. Didn't like that it didn't have a headphone port lol.
I Love this can you do a follow up but the Steam version? The reason I ask is I already own a ton of games there and would love to use it
From what I've found there are issues getting Steam to run on Winlator. TBH even something as basic as a browser doesn't run for me. (Using a Red Magic 8 Pro)
@TehStevz So! SInce posting this I've learned that DRM protected services often require constant online confirmations to run said services - Meaning essentially, though you technically paid for say, Fallout 3 on steam you do not in fact own it under its protected licensed services provided by in this case Steam who run their owj DRM services which makes offline functionality on a unregistered service such as winlator non-existent -unless you can run an emulated modded steam itself (which under its own terms does not allow unregistered platforms or modifications.) The hope is one day winlator emulation improves to the extent that Steam recognizes it as a functional windows platform and that there is a way to bypass the constant need to check in to their services
If you have any Steam games that are DRM-free, that works. Just drop the folder in place.
Steam actually has a list of drm free games but most games I own unfortunately are not
I'm surprised a lot of people are just discovering this 😅😅
If in future can runs steam/gog itself and install games directly from them together with cloud saves etc would be fantastic.
Let's see how cassia or that playtron goes. This is still far too much effort for anyone with access to x86 handheld, especially smaller ones like ayaneo air/air plus.
Love to see this on an Ambernic device....
Please ask the devs to add support to add an external drive or sdcard in winlator. This option doesn't work and most games are really big.
So somebody packed a full on Linux distro with a working accellerated desktop and box86/64 as Android app.
Sadly, it seems to only be properly compatible with Qualcomm hardware as the only alternative to Turnip, VirGL can only run OpenGL API. Would still in theory work for OpenGL games, but sadly most older AAA games use DirectX.
Nice container emulation... Android should have that build in and much more stabile and with even better performance as Arm based chips r having much better performance per watt ratio and becoming very competitive to the x86 cores.
I was so excited until I found out it does work on Snapdragon gen 3 chips. So much for PC gaming on my S24 Ultra... For now
with window mode on samsung tab, this gonna be nice
What if i don't have PC & don't have the game can i do this on just pure android?
Like i don't have a psp & but im emulating it on ppsspp android & get the iso of the game online freely
im using the red magic 8s pro and I got that same error you did but wont install. how did you get past that error?
Wow damn this is exactly what I've wanted since I got myself the OnePlus 12R.
What do you guys think? Will my 12R with SD 8 gen 2 and 16gb ram struggle running games?
You should do a steam tutorial, most PC users will have the steam version
me lookiing at my samsung A73
A73: why you looking at me like that
Now we can add PC games to the list of things we can emulate on our phone
You are late to this buddy 😅😅😅
