    Originally billed as a competitor for the M3/4 The RC-F is Lexus' performance coupe. Problem is the RC-F is too heavy to really challenge the BMW. However, it still has plenty of punch, a great soundtrack and just might be one of the best GT cars you can buy today.

    Wrong.
    This does go up against the BMW M4. I watched a video where the RCF finished .10 behind the M4 on a race track. So you saying it too heavy to challenge the M4 is wrong. This is not a GT car. Its a perfect coupe that can do everything.

    I have a Molten Pearl RCF with TVD/Carbon package. Agreed it is the most misunderstood car. It is very very fast and I find it difficult to really use its 471 HP on the roads. However, the sound, handling, luxury and practicality are things you get to experience and admire at all speeds.

    Came into this video not too sure what to expect but after finishing it, feel like you have left a great first impression. You did a good job focusing on the points you wanted to make and were articulate and straightforward with your explanations and I appreciated the honesty too. Definitely earned a like from me. Keep up the good work!

    Great honest review. You hit on the points that actually made me buy this amazing car. Its under rated because journalists bashed it. I'm glad they did because they've done us a favour and forced its used value down. Good engineering is reliable engineering unlike the money pit Mercedes BMW and Audi alternatives. I've spent silly money over the past 2 decades on German cars. Lesson learnt Never buy a German car over 4 years old. Loving my RCF. Get one now they won't be around for long as we get more and more into the EV bs. Cant fault an effortless performing V8 and the sound beats any forced induction rival. Once again thank you for your factual review

    Great review! New subscriber here. This is an amazing car and I think I’ve seen nearly every RCF review on TH-cam! I’m guessing 90% of owners aren’t tracking RCF’s and I’m ok with that. The better direct competitor is the BMW 440i. Nonetheless BMWs and Audis are empty money pits especially over 50k miles and/or 5 years old. I own a 2002 ES300, its rock solid, reliable and luxurious. These Lexus’s are built to amazing standards, fit and finish is unparalleled. My car feels and rides likes new. Not a creak or rattle
    I’ll be retiring in 5 years and an RCF will be my number one pick. 2nd choice will be a 2012-13 C6 Grand Sport manual.
    Lately been on the fence between the RCF and a RC350 RWD F sport. I will test drive both and compare but I think the V8 will win me over.
    By the way, passionate golfer here, been playing nearly 30 years and I’ve played Seaview 2 times, haven’t been there in over 20 years. An awesome facility.

    You hit the nail on the head - Lexus doesn't have any sports cars in their lineup, but they have AWESOME Gran Turismos. It's a different type of car from a raw sports car that's purely purpose driven; a GT it has power plus creature comforts and enough space to put luggage for a road trip. The LC is like this as well, and even the RC 350 is a pretty good GT.

    Bought my '16 new for $65K, and love it. Use sport+ mode if you want to have some fun. BTW, Randy Pobst did back to back hot laps in the RCF and M4 (video on YT), and the times were very close, less than what you would expect from tire differences, so the media boobs complaining about track performance and weight are clowns. The RCF is a luxury GT, that I've seen beat late model vettes in the quarter. The RCF is not a track car (unless you can afford gate fees and track insurance, or to wad up a $75K car), because it's suspension is a firm road tune, not a track tune. These same twits are the ones that call any new styling cues "ugly", until they figure out it's not a few years later. For some reason, Toyota seems to get beat on by the auto press like no other brand. Maybe they're not passing out as many long term press loaners as BMW. Any reviewer that compares them to other makers without mentioning Toyota reliability and resale, is doing his audience an dis-service. Here's a link to the pro driver hot laps, showing the .3 second difference in lap time, so practically tied with the M4. Timed hot laps start at 15:45 th-cam.com/video/i9A3eY8PRtQ/w-d-xo.htmlm44s

    Randy Probst showed the M4 is only marginally faster on a track and requires someone with his skill to get the most out of it. In a straight line from standing start the M4 is faster but only if you could get a perfect start with launch control which is a pain in the arse to activate as it requires the car to have been driven several miles first to warm it up and then various button pressing to activate which. In real world driving I personally think the RCF is the better car. I’m a BMW guy and drove the 2015 M4 and RCF back to back when I was considering them for a replacement car last year and much preferred the RCF however in the end I bought a low mileage 2013 M6 because it was a lot more car for the same money. 😂

      I have an RCF in Molten Pearl with Carbon Package/TVD and it is the most amazing car to own every day. It does everything so extremely well. The V8 soundtrack is unforgettable from the time you turn it on and hear the cold V8 rumble to the time you hear the high-revving scream. It is truly a masterpiece. I am keeping mine for a very very long time.

      Agree with you. In straight line not much difference in fact.

      BMW M4 is a track car and the RCF a GT, with all their pros and cons.

    Some makes produces cars that spent time for repairs every few months and if u drive these car for day to day use u will know what I mean.
    No one talks about Lexus reliability. Some I suppose. And if you can still drive the car to the neighbouring state and back without much worry has more significance. Choosing performance car but keeps breaking down after a few years (3 years?) makes no sense in the decision.
    Performance is important. Then ......Try LC500 or the LFA.
    If the engine smokes after 120 miles then it a reliable car.? No!!!!!

  • @oscarjeong3137
    @oscarjeong3137 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    I think Lexus designed RC F for muscle car markets and LC500 for track car markets.

  • @TWHISPERER

    Over priced. I know you said that this car is more of a GT than a pure track car but it's just too slow for the price. This car needs to lose weight and about 300 lbs. I think it's the best looking car between itself, the M4, and the C63 AMG, because it's sportier looking than these other two cars are, even though they are faster, the other two are kind of boring looking

      Maybe understand that not every car has to be the fastest ever. This is about what you enjoy driving. Don't enjoy it? Drive something else. The whole point of the car is to give you fun with reliability. 120k miles on my ISF and I never feel like it needs to be sold to keep its value. The car holds up, feels great and that's the point. For the price, yes you can get faster and you'll also end up sitting at a dealership for half that ownership period.

    • @kerune403
      @kerune403 6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I mean you really shouldn't be judging a car's value based on speed alone, at that point there's a list of cars that wouldn't be worth a damn due to their price. When you pay money to own a car you factor in a lot of qualities. Idk about you but there's being stuck in traffic, audio quality, engine noise, interior along with the looks to be considered before you determine value.

      John Vu Too slow? They tested this against the M4 on a race track and it was only behind by 0.2 seconds... and that with the driver working much harder in the M4 with a lot more steering, brake and throttle corrections just to get that 0.2 advantage. I'd say in a 25 lap race, the RC-F stand a good chance of winning just because less input for the driver is required to get it going fast around the track.

    It is not misunderstood, the RC-F is fat, heavy, no rear leg room, horrible transmission shift logic, and dated infotainment. Lexus misunderstood their consumers.

  • @eyeyron5007
    @eyeyron5007 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    In short, get the m4. I mean How many times did he say bmw and how the rc-f was not better. That distracting infotainment and trans tunnel that rubs on your knee are both not gonna make your drive comfortable.

      I have the RC. It never bothers me the infotainmnt. All u do is listen to radio or connect to ur phone media via bluetooth and chnge channel frm the steering control. Its a cool GT can be driven daily. I intend to keep it coz its rare here in my country and sure im gonna get that awesome LC500
