    Thank you for the pafcal update! I may have to try it out, sounds great for my conditions semi outdoor in FL. Can you speak more on why roots go more to the side of the cup? Are they looking for moisture or air? I see it with Tera cotta and plastic but not so much on my vanda baskets. I really enjoy your content bc you are knowledgeable but approachable and I like your little breaks with humor and musical talent. Thank you for sharing!

    • @AroidDistrict
      @AroidDistrict  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you. Im not completely sure about why roots go to sides. But Ive always felt that certain Aroids (like syngonium), QUICKLY root down sides to anchor for stability. Other plants with small stringy roots just fill up the pot and have no where else to go but around the sides.

    • @AroidDistrict
      @AroidDistrict  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Lol thank you! So when I first seen Pafcal, it was being used on mature plants only. I figured I can mix leca or small stones with it, if I need to stabilize a large plant. But overall, fertilizing with Pafcal is easy, I’m sure slow release or liquid fert can be used.

    Hello, informative video ,Thank U. Ok, I have 10 hoyas that lives in a East facing area ( livrm & bedrm ) with a full view of the sky. My hoya macrophylla was beginning to get very tiny little dots on the back only of 1 leaf. Is that because of too much light? & I was so surprised to hear grow lights was better to use then natural light to avoid fading because a couple of my hoyas has lighten up & thats being indoors only. I have pulled back some from the window area.My sunrise is a fast grower & sunstressing beautifully. Its the prettiest hoya I think. I just recently received my krohniana & allowing it to acclimate in a North facing window. What direction do u keep ur krohniana ? because I have to get to know this little darling. Thanks again.

    • @AroidDistrict
      @AroidDistrict  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You’re welcome. I think sunlight from a window can fade them a bit as well. I plan to put my Hoya in an area where they are getting grow lights only. My Khroniana is currently in North/West facing window, so it’s getting a lot of light during sunset hrs. Khroniana has been fuss free for me. Hope all goes well for yours, drop a comment if you ever have any questions.

    • @AroidDistrict
      @AroidDistrict  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey, yes there are quite a few Hoya that are easy and affordable. If you are a beginner, don't be afraid to buy smaller cheaper Hoya because they have very fast growth spurts. Callistophyla, Sunrise, Obscura, Carnosa, Obovata, Elliptica are all easy and affordable. The last 2 mentioned are the fastest growing.

      Hey I’m still using it. I do amend it with Leca and perlite due to the expense. It works great for the larger and smaller plants I’ve used it on. I actually prefer to use it with larger permanent potted plants. Only downside is the roots grow crazy and cling to Pafcal, so difficult to remove from roots.

    • @AroidDistrict
      @AroidDistrict  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think I’ll do another Q & A soon. I do not normally treat plants that are outside. I have sprayed Neem oil on outdoor Alocasia before. But plants outdoors have better immune system and daily spray with water hose takes care of things. I would only use systemic for indoor plants.

    back when I was a kid, you can see a lot of wild hoyas growing on a mango tree, vanda, staghorn fern and many other orchids, now I cant find this on wild, some are endangered just like "Tayabak"/"Strongylodon Macrobotrys" as a plant lover this made me so sad, the plant you grow up with are gone and now you can only see it through online. I wish they stop poaching this kind of plant.

    • @AroidDistrict
      @AroidDistrict  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I just had a conversation about this. It seems like a lot of explorers go to other countries and discover rare plants to poach. Then years later, after they cultivate the plant and made money...they complain about local citizens of that country poaching the plants. Well if those Explorers didn't make the plant expensive, then it would not be poached. Interesting topic.
