    Just to clarify - you spray the cup with the UV Archival / Triple Clear then apply the Bright Tone. How long do you wait after the triple clear? Also, I noticed you did the Bright Tone over the lip - would it be easier to mask the lip off and just put the Bright Tone over the actual abstract art? Even though Bright Tone says there are no hazardous or toxic ingredients - just wondering if you've had any issues with it. Thanks so much - your art is beautiful!!! Love what you created!!!

    • @TSRCreations
      @TSRCreations  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Carol. Thanks!
      Yes I spray them prior to coating them. I guess you could just put the bright tone over the inks but I would think you may see a ridge or feel it and I would like that. I haven’t had any issues and as it is safe I always let them cure fully for 30 days before I sell them.

    Thanks so much for such a great tutorial. I've done some pretty alcohol ink and Marabu marbled coffee mugs and I used dishwasher mod podge on them but even just hand washing most of it has come off within a year. I have two questions:
    What is the device you are using inserted in the cup in order to spin it and handle it easier?
    Is the sealer applied all the way to the rim of the mug? I wonder if it is safe when drinking?
    This tutorial was really helpful. Thank you so much!

    • @TSRCreations
      @TSRCreations  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Susan! The handle is a part that comes with a cup turner, I make resin tumblers. All it is is a piece of pvc pipe with a foam football on the end. It’s a great tool for these. The sealer can be applied all the way up or just on the inks. All these sealers are fine for everyday use after they have been cured for a full 30 days, per their websites. But if it worries you just tape off the rim!
      Thanks!

    You’ve videos are amazing. Thank you for posting them. I know there have been a lot of questions about sealants. Just to make sure I understand. You use Kamar Varnish, then Crystal Clear, then UV Archival then Brite Tone? I have seen so many comments on various blogs about the alcohol inks coming off even after sealants applied. I appreciate your clarity for sealants. I wanna be able to use the cups I make or give as gifts.

    • @TSRCreations
      @TSRCreations  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi thanks so much! So I always spray with either with 2-3 coats of Krylon Kamar varnish then 2 coats of UV archival spray also by Krylon. Sometimes I use the Brite tone not always, it depends on the look I am going for and on how glossy I want them to be. If I do not use the brite tone, I spray a third coat of UV spray. I always tell customers to hand wash these only to keep them looking there best for longer. I try to stay away from the very rim with the varnish, but always let your cups cure for 30 days before selling.

    I had a couple of questions for you. 1) why do you use triple coat instead of karma varnish? 2) Have you ever tried placing electrical tape around the lip of the cup before you spray it? Will that help keep the varnish and uv from getting on the place you place to your month.

    • @TSRCreations
      @TSRCreations  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      So I use a couple coats Kamar clear varnish before the brite tone because the brite tone will reactivate the inks and ruin the design. You absolutely can tape off the rim just be mindful that you may see a indentation or line where the varnish stops. The cup after varnished is safe to use after a 30 day curing process. Thanks

I noticed you sealed right up to the lip of the cup. I thought nothing was supposed to go where the lips will touch. Is Crystalac actually food safe? One more question, what do you have jammed in the mug that you're holding onto? Thanks!

    I can’t believe you put that brite tone up to the top where the lip touches. Brite tone is for musical instruments originally and has been used for canvases with quite a few issues mostly crazing and crackling even with very thin coats. Not always but enough to know it’s a risk that could ruin your art and should definitely not be put where anyones mouth will be. Disappointed to see you use it even if you say you have never had an issue.

    • @TSRCreations
      @TSRCreations  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Many artists use the brite tone for these items. Per their website “Food safe when dry and FDA compliant but not FDA approved” FDA approval is very hard to get so that is common. I have used it on paintings without any issues as well.
      Here is a link to their website if you would like to research more.
