by far the best performance live! I saw Pantera twice in my life and I wouldn't trade it for anything! That Moscow show is insane! Phil was 23, Dime was 25, Rex & Phil were 27. To be that good in front of that many people at such a young age is insane. The energy in the crowd is crazy. Phil & Dime had such chemistry on stage. The 4 of them were so tight in the early years. Rex is under rated by everyone. Man I can go on forever about Pantera lol..
He said "We're taking over this town" that was Phil's regular speaking voice. For a man who could sing some pretty High notes he spoke in a very deep voice.
Seen Pantera TWICE and each time I was left ears ringing, out of breath, hoarse, and still feeling the bass reverberating in my chest for hours... Loved every moment! 😁😁😁
25 years after my first reaction... and that shiver running through my spine is still there... and still hating the world. No bullets when you have music.
I first heard Pantera in the summer of 89. My girlfriend at the time came over to my house and she had Cowboys From Hell blasting in her truck. I was like "who the hell is that?!" I love Phil's voice. His actual speaking voice is really close to the, "We're takin over this town" part.
Now this video shows what the cowboys tour in the clubs were like. The most awesome shows I’ve ever seen to this date, and I’m an old retired musician now. If you see Phil in his Mohawk, that was his best ! They were fresh, hungry, and the best party band ever ! Getting Phil, and changing their sound was the best thing to ever happen !
Pantera was an American heavy metal band from Arlington, Texas. The group was formed in 1981 by the Abbott brothers-drummer Vinnie Paul and guitarist Dimebag Darrell-along with lead vocalist Terry Glaze. Bassist Rex Brown joined the band the following year, replacing Tommy D. Bradford, who was the unofficial original. Having started as a glam metal band, Pantera released four albums independently during the 1980s. Looking for a new and heavier sound, Pantera replaced Glaze with Phil Anselmo in late 1986 and released Power Metal in 1988. In 1989, the band secured a record deal with the major laber Atco. With its fifth album, 1990's Cowboys from Hell, Pantera popularized the groove metal genre. This video was filmed at The Basement in Dallas, TX .
Because of this band right here. Because of that man, Dimebag, was the whole reason i fell in love with metal and started learning guitar back in 1994. Such a shame what happened to Dime, should have never happened. May he RIP with his brother Vinnie. I just had to buy myself that very same guitar he plays in this vid. The Dean from hell. Love it.
Pantera started off as a hair band in the early 80s. A glam rock band. Phil Anselmo started singing with them and sang on Power Metal, a transitory album. They made the big switch in 1990 when Cowboys From Hell was released with their more familiar aggressive sound.
Saw pantera on their last tour in glasgow scotland. After the concert they invited everyone to the cat house nightclub to have a drink with them. You dont get other bands that were willing to chill with their fans. True legends. RIP vinnie and dime, drinking your black tooth grins in the after life!
Greatest Groove Metal ever! Out in the 80s but Dominated the 90s. Phil was the first true extreme metal vocalist with the growls, screams, distortion and beautiful cleans.
1981 is the origin year. A few years later in 86 Phil joined the band and they transformed..... the rest is left in history. I had the pleasure of seeing them many times live.....badass band.....just badass!!!! Dime's guitar abilities are at the top of the list for all of us guitar players to aspire to. He alone is my reason for picking up the axe!!!! Great vids man. keep them up!
Pantara was real homegrown band from Texas that had a personal connection to people. When people talk about Pantara they would say "you know Phil, or you know Vinnie were great guys". It was in a very personal manner like they knew the guys personally.
They actually started in the mid 80's as a glam band but changed things up when they got this singer. This is from their major label and "official" debut, which came out in 1990. But they have 4 independent albums before it.

The 90s were amazing for music. So many genres, and so many amazing artists in each. I was lucky to see Pantera on ozzfest in 97. They were colossal!!!
The guitarist DimeBag Darrell was shot in the head numerous times while performing with his other band while his brother which is the drummer here was drumming also when he got killed
This song made me fall in love with them...then there was Cemetery Gates...that got a huge push years later thanks to Tales From the Crypt "Demon Knight" with Jada Pinkett. Then Pantera blew up.

A group of musical geniuses from Dallas Texas. Formed in the 80's but broke big in the 90's. Hometown heros. And arguably the greatest metal band to walk the face of the planet. Nobody really comes close.
