I saw Pantera a couple times as a teenager in the late 90's. This is exactly what a live Pantera show was like. Bodies flying everywhere and super intense pits!
Yes unbanned! Also, you should do a community poll asking if the next reaction should be a movie or song and whichever one wins gets another poll between 4 highly requested movies/bands. And Phil Anselmo is a very talented vocalist. You can really see his talents if you react to Cemetery Gates.
Dimebag Darrell Abbot was arguably one of the best metal guitarists of all time. Despite the rough exterior he was one of the kindest human beings also. A common misconception of heavy metal artists and fans is that they are aggressive and hateful people. The reality is most metal artists and fans have some of the kindest hearts of anyone in the world. Heavy metal music isn't about lashing out and being aggressive towards the world. It is a way to channel all the evil and horror and sadness in life and express how it makes you feel in a positive way such as music. It is also such a tight-knit community because heavy metal lets you know it's okay to not feel okay.
Pantera is badass! They were innovators and brought Metal to the masses. Their guitarist is Dimebag Darrell. He’s one of the better guitarists you’ll come across.
This is why we watch and subscribe to your reaction videos. It’s fun to know all these cool and classic songs and watching you react to them or see when your mouth drops because your experiencing these songs for the first time is so cool. Next play “Walk” by Pantera. If you liked this song you’ll love “Walk.” Trust me it’s a catchy song.
They originally formed in 1981 as a glam metal band and released three albums in the mid-1980s with lead vocalist Terry Glaze. During 1986, New Orleans native and then-eighteen year old Phil Anselmo was hired as the vocalist. The Abbott brothers officially disbanded Pantera in November 2003 The Abbot brothers (drums and guitar) have passed. Darrel "Dimebag" Abbot was shot in Columbus Ohio (December 8, 2004 (aged 38)), and his brother Vinnie died in his sleep (June 22, 2018 (aged 54)).
Pantera crowds, particularly in their home area around Dallas and Ft worth Texas, were a whole thing of their own. It looks insanely violent, and there is no substitute for having been in a genuine Texas Pantera crowd, but whatever you think you see is only the surface. Some of the only times I’ve been genuinely concerned for my life and wellbeing in a crowd have been Pantera shows. Yet, I’m here to tell you, it’s about as ALIVE as a person can possibly feel.
Trust me, stmphonic metal may be up your alley. There are lots of genres in rock and metal, some more hip hop, some more orchestral, some more slow and others fast. Pantera was one of the earliest groove metal bands. While originally a glam metal band with a different singer, they changed their sound to emphasize the "money riff" in their music. Anybody giving metal a chance get my respect. It is one of the most underappreciated genres due to assumptions of negative influences.
As others have said Domination live in Moscow is a must see for a great look at an intense live performance. For other Pantera songs, I’d recommend Cemetery Gates, A New Level, Planet Caravan, 10’s, & Yesterday Don’t Mean Sh*t. These give you a good taste from their discography.
Cemetery Gates is an early in the catalogue "must listen" Pantera song, but there's two "must's". One must never listen to the music video for it, it's a radio edit and chopped up, you'll miss out on the true nature & full composition of the song. Always be weary of radio edits, they've been ruining songs for decades. Go for the album version! And rock on! 🤘
Cool watching someone fall into the music I grew up with, Pantera, Korn, Smashing Pumpkins, Nirvana and the comment about loving the guitar. Both the singer here and guitarist are two of the most talented in genre of all time and it is why Pantera is so amazing, you should really do a few more of their songs which I see you have not followed up on 😄❤
4:55 That's called 'panning'. Pantera, like pretty much every rock & metal band, utilized what's known as 'double-tracking'. Basically, Dimebag (the guitarist; RIP) would record his guitar parts twice: the first recording would get panned hard to one side (left or right), the second would get panned hard to the opposite side (right or left). This was mainly done to make the guitars sound 'fuller' (as well as hide any minor errors made while recording; the mics really do pick up everything), but when one side is muted briefly, it also allowed for setup moments like what you're pointing out that create cool dynamics within the song without sacrificing the intensity...
8:05 Beware: There are different types of mosh pits, depending on what band you're going to see. If you're going to pull the trigger on going to a rock/metal show, I would STRONGLY recommend not standing front and center at first, where the mosh pit generally happens. People get punched, they get kicked, bones get broken, teeth get knocked out (I once saw a guy do a front flip while stage diving, ended up putting the heel of his Doc Marten into someone else's face. It was not pretty) Stay near the back where the mixing board is or at the bar (the two places Security generally won't allow moshing) & observe from a distance (or if the venue has a second deck, like a balcony? That'd be even better). See what the vibe is, & if you feel comfortable 'wading' into that mess...
I play drums BECAUSE of Pantera!! The song that inspired me the most was ‘Becoming’ off of the Far Beyond Driven album. They were a revolutionary evolution. They created an entirely new sub genre of metal! The Great Southern Trendkill was their Magnum Opus!
For a category the word you're looking for with Pantera is "groove metal". But they were and still are the masters of it even 20+ years after they broke up as a band.
The drummer from this band, Vinney Paul, also played in a band called "Hell Yea". They had a kick ass song called Cowboy Way. If you liked this song you'll love Cowboy Way.
Pantera was an amazing band that gave the masses countless good music. Phil Anselmo ( lead vocals and in Pantera timeline the 2nd vocalist) Dimebag Darrell Abbott ( lead guitar and R.I.P.) Vinnie Paul ( drums, Dime's brother and R.I.P.) and Rex Brown ( bass and in the 80s was known as Rex Rocker)
Our families are totally different. My dad when he came to the states fully embraced the rock and metal scene of the late 70’s and early 80’s. That was the foundation of my music taste. 😁
This is the metal sound of the 90's. This video was filmed at The Basement. I used to hang out at this bar in Dallas. The band was from Arlington which is a suburb of the neigboring city of Ft. Worth. Yes this was the way it was!!!
Yes. These shows are just like this video. I was 15 when I went t to go see them on this tour. I grew up with hip hop & Spanish music since I’m Hispanic but growing up in the NYC area we were exposed to alot of different things. Also my 15 year older brother listened to metal so I liked it cause of him. My boys in Queens thought I was crazy for listening to this type of music lol in the 90s there were several hip hop & metal groups that played together. It was a different time. I miss the good old days of punching someone in the face in the pit. Sometimes a brow would catch my elbow 😂
Welcome to the creators of the genre we call Power Metal. Pantera is one of the best power groove bands of the early 90's era when Cowboys From Hell was released. When Grunge moved in and shut down all the hair metal bands of the 80's, Pantera who interestingly enough was considered a hair metal band back when they started in the mid 80's, but did not really break into the mainstream until CFH came out, trailblazed their way into the 90's and forged their own road keeping hardcore metal alive. Us metal heads jumped onto the Pantera train and rode that bullet right on into the end of the century. But, unfortunately the members parted ways and formed other bands but their legacy lives on forever. I'll let you find out about what happened to Dime on your own as I'm sure others will mention it in their comments. Thank you for being honest on who you are and your upbringing. I appreciate that and totally understand now. As the Carpenter's once sang, "We've only just begun. " Looking forward to more of your reaction videos. Definitely dive deeper into Pantera as I am sure you will enjoy their entire catalog. 🤘
The murder of Dimebag brings a tear to my eye to this day. I saw them 5 times back in the day and YES their concerts were just like that. They sure could whip a crowd into a furry. I am 50 years old now and I can honestly say that those concerts were a very high point in my life. R.I.P. Dime and Vinny. I'll see you on the flip side. If you could react to their song " Mouth For War " I would really appreciate it. I know you would love it also.
*INSTANTLY SUBSCRIBED* Great music, ridiculously gorgeous host.... Why wouldn't I.... Looking forward to *YOU* going down the Rock n Roll rabbit hole...~
They are one of my top 3. My parents are metal heads, so I've been head banging since the womb. I was the only 8 year old singing the lyrics to their next album when it came out, and my father is in one of their live vids. All four members are considered great in their realm, but vinny and dime (the Abbott brothers), drums and guitar, especially stood out. I'd suggest cemetery gates (long version and the actual full album song), domination (live in moscow), and floods for a good look at their diversity in songs. We're actually coming up on the 20th anniversary of dimes murder, December 8th, where someone who was mentally unfit shot him and several others while they were playing on stage at a club, and vinny died of heart failure in 2018.
I saw pantera and megadeth at sandstone in kc when I was in my 20s left with a bloody lip and that was 3rd row seats. Good times.😅 your very beautiful enjoyed your reaction.
Nice reaction. Welcome to the world of metal music. Hope you enjoy the ride.🥁🎸🥁🎸 If you like this song you'd probably love their song song Cemetery Gates.
RIP Dime & Vinnie Dime was shot onstage while performing wit his brother Vinnie in the band DamagePlan by some mentally ill ex military guy who thought Pantera was stealing his thoughts for their songs. Dime was a pioneer a lot of artists today still use techniques from him today such a tragic loss to the metal world the band HellYeah did a cover of I Don't Care Anymore & used some bits of Dime playing to pay homage to him definitely worth a listen. You would love Five Finger Death Punch Mia theyre very intense & they do a lot for the military id suggest The Bleeding Way of the Fist Wrong Side Of Heaven Welcome to the Circus Lift Me Up or Coming Down i feel u would love Ivan Mia 🖤 keep rocking girl love the shirt btw u are definitely a rocker babe now oh i feel u on how it was in ur family & how they felt about rock music i have an aunt who is super religious she once judged me bcuz i love metal i love wearing all black & i love skulls im not too fond of her rock music is a getaway from the world so that those who have it rough in life can have an escape from their pain Metal music is my comfort music.
Seen them live four times been in the mosh pit every time my ears ring for days and I was sore physically for days and I loved it one night it was Static-X mudvayne Pantera and Slayer in one night oh my God one hell of a wild night
I’d like to recommend “UPON A BURNING BODY” specifically their song Already Broken… if you grew up in a Latin household watch these guys and show love to the culture 🤘🏽
Back in the 90s I lived a few years in Guatemala and Mexico, a lot of people in Latin America love Metal, Pantera was huge in Latin America, same as many other groove, thrash, power metal bands, etc. Also Hispanic metal bands are well loved like Angeles del Infierno, Rata Blanca and others. By the way a personal Pantera recommendation that many rarely react to, Pantera’s Power Metal
My neighbors sound exactly like your family. They immigrated from Mexico. The father is a preacher, and I often find his teenage son out in the hallway of the building blasting "forbidden music" on his headphones. Ignore the haters, they need to show some Respect, then walk on home! Check out Walk, it kicks! I like your shirt, btw!
This is thrash metal. Now you need black leather jacket and no sleeve denim jacket with patches of your favorite bands on them. Some you sew on or iron on. Gotta go thrash and Punk. They have the best energy to turn you on to other tougher stuff. Yea the shows are LOUD and AWESOME and everyone just wants to chill drink and thrash. DONT GO IN THE PIT ON YOU FIRST SHOW. 😂Look at it first 😆. Loving this channel.

It is also such a tight-knit community because heavy metal lets you know it's okay to not feel okay.
Yessss!!!! Pantera! ROCK! 🤘 Now you're officially a metalhead.
Pantera is badass! They were innovators and brought Metal to the masses.
Their guitarist is Dimebag Darrell. He’s one of the better guitarists you’ll come across.
DOMINATION LIVE IN MOSCOW!
When you listen to a great band it just works and makes you feel something. Enjoy the ride and keep up the great reactions.
Pantera's Cemetary Gates, Walk, etc. Absolutely great band. Phil's vocals on Cemetary Gates is phenomenal.
Darrel was the best there ever was for METAL guitar. RIP Dimebag! ❤🤍💙
They originally formed in 1981 as a glam metal band and released three albums in the mid-1980s with lead vocalist Terry Glaze. During 1986, New Orleans native and then-eighteen year old Phil Anselmo was hired as the vocalist. The Abbott brothers officially disbanded Pantera in November 2003
The Abbot brothers (drums and guitar) have passed.
First time I heard this riff, I was 10 years old (1991). My jaw dropped to the floor.
Pantera is Badass, Bee Gee's to much heaven is written for you!
Pantera is definitely heavier than Marylin Manson. The difference you are noticing is that Pantera is actually awesome.
No doubt I don't like Marilyn Manson Pantera was awesome shame brothers died
This Album was released in 1990 and was played in my car on my way to school. Hallow on this album is a reminder of friends lost.
There are so many styles and genres in metal, you will have much fun with.
It was not pretty)
Stay near the back where the mixing board is or at the bar (the two places Security generally won't allow moshing) & observe from a distance (or if the venue has a second deck, like a balcony?
They had a kick ass song called
Cowboy Way.
There's a lot of great heavy metal bands, but there's only one Pantera! RIP Dime and Vinnie
I had a feeling you might like Pantera, keep going down the rabbit hole 🤘
🤘
Oh I was thinking about requesting Pantera. This is one of my all time favorites good pick 🤘😆
Folks, take it easy on Mia’s music knowledge as she explains at about 0:45.
Give her credit for being open to new, music types.
Hello Mia
As usual you are very attractive, beautiful lady
Pantera music can never go wrong. They have lots of great songs.
Welcome to late 80s, 90s thrash metal. And yes, I saw a mosh back in August for Megadeth
Metal is huge in Mexico, Central America and South America!
Now you're starting to thaw... Let the jams flow through you... Feel truth and freedom through MUSIC... METAL POWER!!! KEEP ON GROWING!
Now, we're talking! This album is so crisp and wild in its sound and is so good. Get on with 'Cemetery Gates', you will be mind-fuckin'-blown!
“The only thing cooler than bands that get chicks, are bands that scare chicks.” -Beavis
Ya, ya eheehe!
I saw pantera and megadeth at sandstone in kc when I was in my 20s left with a bloody lip and that was 3rd row seats. Good times.😅 your very beautiful enjoyed your reaction.
They were incredible live in concert ! Damn near note perfect as well.
Nice reaction.
Welcome to the world of metal music.
Hope you enjoy the ride.🥁🎸🥁🎸
If you like this song you'd probably love their song song Cemetery Gates.
My grandparents were the same way lol. I grew up in the 80's "Turn off that devil music!!" ROCK ON
🤘😎🤘
Best metal band ever imo! 🤘🏼
EVERYONE!!! She’s found Pantea she a fucking metal fan!!!🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽
6:29 absolutely a good choice... Pantera was the standard for its time, and influenced and love by many bands today
Pantera is easily the best metal band out of Texas! They nailed their performance when I saw them open for Metallica. 😎😀
Oh, for heavens sake, i’ve watched a dozen reactions to this song but i guess i’ll watch another one.
Pantera Domination live in Moscow is a must. Banger!
People talk crap because they are ignorant. Not everyone knows everything about music or movie's so on and so on. Ignore those comments. 🎸
Glad St. DIME gave you an EARGAZIM!! Keep it up!! DOMINATION!
You also gonna love cemetery gates and domination for sure. Specially the live version of domination, in moscow.
Pantera shows can be like this. Everyone is whipped into a frenzy. Adrenaline overload!
Seen them live four times been in the mosh pit every time my ears ring for days and I was sore physically for days and I loved it one night it was Static-X mudvayne Pantera and Slayer in one night oh my God one hell of a wild night
This was a typical metal show when I was growing up, and hasn't changed yet. I'm a Xennial.
I’d like to recommend “UPON A BURNING BODY” specifically their song Already Broken… if you grew up in a Latin household watch these guys and show love to the culture 🤘🏽
Great Googly Moogly!......ya kno,to be honest,I've never been with a latino woman , but maybe that needs to change!! 😂😂😂Love ya,kid!!❤❤
Loving this channel.
dimebag darrell of pantera is the greatest guitarist
this is called Power Metal btw, try Domination 1991 Moscow , you wont understand what the singers saying but its fucking rad
