Back in O.C. Calif when I was 30 my wife heard a commercial on the radio about a P.F. show coming up. Knowing I am a Floyd fan she called the radio station (KMET - LA, “The Mighty Met”) to get information on the concert, The DJ on live radio Cynthia Fox…. said...."Congratulations, YOU are caller number 10, YOU just won tickets to the show and the Sound Check Party before the show"...
I met David Gilmour back stage. He gave us both a signed album that I have in my music room. We talked for 22 minutes. I called him…“The Master Of The Stratocaster” He smiled. I told him his music will stand the test of time with anything from Beethoven or Mozart. He smiled even bigger. I asked if I could shake both his hands that make such great guitar solos, he smiled bigger and said “Sure” and shook both hands at the same time, making a cross between us, I smiled HUGE. Hard to explain how awesome that moment was in my life. I asked him to describe his technique of playing guitar, he replied… “I strike a note, bend it, shake it and then release it”…. Yes, he does that quite well, better than any other guitarist I know. . I told him in my eyes he’s a “Legend“. He thanked me and said “Enjoy the show”…. during the concert after the song “Money” he looked right at me and said…. “On saxophone, another Legend, Mr. Raphael Ravenscroft” … acknowledging my comment to him. It is my favorite moment in over 300 shows I’ve seen.
I asked David…. How do you create those awesome solos?… he said….. I sit on a stool and listen to what Roger, Nick and Rick put down and play along. I listen to what I played and pick out what I like, then I put the pieces together into one piece then learn to play it as one. Our fans are fanatics for our shows to sound like the albums so I must play it correctly each time in a show. I have the concert Brochure and album on the wall with David’s picture centerfold.
All of us fortunate enough to have seen this show live were in a TRANCE.... MESMERIZED the entire show... as you can imagine. We walked out saying.... What did we just witness? That was out of this world incredible. The Red Fender Stratocaster he used for this concert in the Guitar Collector World is ....PRICELESS

@@nedrini1055 *sigh* I hate explaining self-explanatory comments but here we go... in the first part I ask who could be wondering why Pink Floyd over rap, this means I don’t understand who could possibly doubt such a preference, in other words I don’t understand how some people can’t see why someone would prefer Pink Floyd since it’s obviously the better choice, see? "Pink Floyd should have their own genre." I have been saying for decades that Pink Floyd are their own genre. There is nobody that can do it like Pink Floyd, nobody, and that's just a fact. Pink Floyd's music crosses through from one generation to the next, there is no other band that can do that like Pink Floyd does it. The members of Pink Floyd may be getting older but their music never gets old. That's what makes Pink Floyd a timeless masterpiece, a work of art.

I love your enthusiasm, especially for Floyd. I have been a fan since 1967 when I was 12. They have come a long way since then. I would suggest almost any song by this band. Time, Great Gig In The Sky, Money, Wish You Were Here, Echoes (live in the ruins of Pompeii), Shine On You Crazy Diamond are all classics but then there are the Syd Barrett songs on Piper At The Gates Of Dawn or Set The Controls For The Heart of The Sun from their second album, A Saucerful Of Secrets. It is great that you can enjoy this music with your Mom. She is a wonderful addition to your channel. By the way, Floyd's live shows are usually even better than the recorded material but you probably already know this.

It was back in the late sixties when I first got into Pink Floyd. I still love them today at the age of 71. They are technically brilliant in everything they do. You don't just listen to their music, you feel every note as if they were playing to every emotion in your body. You could equate them to Shakespeare with their lyrics and copied by many bands, which is a testimony in its own right.

I stood 10 m from David and Nick as they played Comfortably Numb and all their big hits on the Delicate Sounds of Thunder tour in Australia in 1988.
With the soaring vocals of Margaret Taylor and Rachel Fury it was a supreme moment in musical history for all of us there on that hot sultry night, outside under the stars of the Southern Cross.
The concert finished with an incredible version of Run like Hell, the drum beat of which seemed to follow us all the way home after we had left in an almost trance like state.
Truly the greatest concert I've ever witnessed.

Back in the 1970s, my parents never commented on the loud music we were always listening to, up until one day I played Pink Floyd when she was in the next room.
She came in and asked, "What is this music, I have never heard anything that sounds so amazingly beautiful?".
The record that was playing "really loudly", was Dark Side of the Moon, and the cut was "The Great Gig in the Sky".
She was always listening to Pink Floyd after that, and would come upstairs just to hear it, especially whenever there was a new record out from them.
She LOOOOVED Wish You Were Here, as did some girls that did not like loud rock and roll at all.
I have so many stories I want to tell, but the short answer is, I love watching your mom react, and she should yes yes yes be part of your reactions whenever you play something she likes.

I am an oddball, for the first tem years I jammed out to this song I always pictured the song being about war... I grew up living in the shadows of the final stages of bringing Western Europe out of the seemingly never ending "night" that World War 2 had done to Europe. I spent 11 years of my first 21years living in West Germany. I remember how polluted and war scarred places still were on our first 4 year stint there. We came back 4 years later in 1980 and things had improved drastically. We left in 84, came back in 85, I left in 86 and returned in 89 and left again about 2 months after the Iron Curtain had collapsed. This song is an "anthem" for every cockroach move humanity marks on this planet, war or climate...

They leap froged each other for 92 shows with 20 Trucks per crew and a total staff of 195. The tour cost the promoters $98.MILLION to put on, but the total profit was $260 MILLION. Nick Mason’s drumming is incredible and matches Gilmour’s guitar emotions while Richard Wright takes us on a Magic Carpet Ride of tones that form the foundation of it all. The entire crowd was held in a trace and our minds totally blown by what we witnessed.

I love, love, love that you’re doing these reactions with your mom!! I used to listen to Pink Floyd with my boys when they were young….. now it’s on to my 12 year old grandson. It’s reliving the wonderment of this group all over again! Led Zeppelin too! What a great bonding experience to have with your mom!!! Enjoy🎶❤️ I’m 63 and have been listening to them for over 50 years!

Pink Floyd started when I was a freshman in high school (1969). I grew up with them. I have just about every album, 8 track, cassette and then in 2009 I got the "Pulse" concert on VHS tape (now on DVD). The pulse concert brought the music from all of those years alive and enhanced. Now I watch it in my living room in surround sound and it almost brings tears to my eyes with all of the memories over the years. It is nice to see you admiring the songs. They are classic! 🎼🎶🎵😆🤣

Seen Pink Floyd live in concert late 80’s and was the very best concert I’ve ever been to be a long mile. Phenomenal sound and visual light effects with incredible musicians at the top of their game.
I’ve seen many good concerts & groups since, but sorry they are no match live in concert……
U2, Rolling Stones, Fleetwood Mac, Aerosmith, Eric Clapton, Santana, Genesis all a distant 2nd to Floyd Live 👌

My dad introduced me to Pink Floyd in the early days of Floyd (Syd Barret days and yes I was preteen) and I introduced my kids to them 20 years later. My husband and I both listened to them so the kids had now choice! While I am still mostly fond of the earlier stuff, up to and including DSOTM, my sister says her favorite is Division Bell. My now 35 year old is the only kid that likes them as far back as I do siting Ummagumma as a favorite.

If you haven't reacted to "Time" you should. Roger was in his late twenties when he wrote it and I was in my twenties when I first heard it and it scared me into really looking at my life. No one compares to Pink Floyd's ability to take you on a journey of discovery of yourself.

Another amazing duo reaction!!😍 I so enjoyed the Heart one too! I think you better look up their laser light shows! Not quite as exciting as a concert, but what a blast!!! Not sure if your in Chicagoland too, or just support the teams (your caps 👍lol) but I saw none for here, looks like east coast then TX. I'd always hit one of those light shows up when I hadn't been to a concert in a while and needed a fix😉😂
    Keep sharing the magic!!♥️✌🤘

You've gotta do "Time" next, also "High hopes", "On the turning away", "Shine on you crazy diamond" (all parts) and maybe some of their earlier stuff, "Astronomy Domine", "See Emily play", "Arnold Layne" and "Set the controls for the heart of the sun"

I was there. You really enter another world especially since I had never heard the songs before. I had no idea what to expect. Honestly, it was an out of body experience and a little bit intimidating. Then they would play something that was so mellow you would feel like you were on a cloud. By the way, I was not high on drugs. You didn’t need to be.
