Real simple way to pop the lanyard side back together is with a knipex pliers wrench. The jaws are smooth, leave no marks, and you can easily and gradually apply enough pressure with a couple gentle squeezes to press it back in. I use a cheap mini pry tool to take them apart, but anything similar would work just as well.

I just think a Company like Spyderco could try to at least work on theire clip to make us more happy. When I think about buying a new one I always end up with a 140€ knife and at least 100€ for extras right from the beginning 😀
Para 3 was my first $100+ knife and also the first knife I disassembled to maintain. The lanyard tube gave me a bit of trouble the first time but luckily I never managed to damage it
Love this style video dude! I did something similar with my m390 Para 3. I swapped out the red g10 scales with olive green micarta, put on a red deep carry lynch clip, and used red hardware. I kept the red spacer, and that was rug that really brought the room together. Keep it up man!
@@PeakPerspectivesMT I've become so bored with g10. I already own way too many knives (my wife would argue) in g10. With that said I love the changeup with the red g10. But micarta may take the cake for my favorite scale, and the Para 3 (also the shaman) with micarta scales is something to behold.
Just installed a new Custom Made Titanium Deep Carry Pocket Clip For Spyderco Para 3 - Plain from MXG. I had to look in my tool box but I found my small torx drivers. Anyway, it was an easy install, ony 3 screws. I did not use any torque seal but if they come loose I will add some blue torque seal. I don’t care about the lanyard hole so I got the plain one. I like it.
Dude, i got the red linen micarta RGT skinny Para 3 scales after watching this video a few times, and I’ve gotta say, RGT makes some excellent scales. Installing them was relatively easy (i have to admit it’s the first time I’ve swapped scales on my knives) after getting that lanyard tube out. Thanks for showing the install process, that was a huge help. 🤘
@@samnero387 thats funny, I’ve actually had the AD20.5 scales in my cart for a while, i just haven’t decided to pull the trigger yet. With how much I’ve been liking the skinny Para 3 scales i can only imagine how they make the AD20.5 feel, as that Demko knife is badly in need of something “sturdier” feeling than FRN (or whatever they call it) scales. Thanks, this response pushed me to finally order those AD20.5 scales.
After a couple of scale swaps on the para series I broke down and bought the lanyard tube press from sharp dressed knives. Makes it so much easier to get the scales off. Putting them back on though I still have to do a method like MC does.

I have a few Para3's here at home. 4 to be exact. But I also have a maxamet blade and an m4 lightweight as well. Maxamet is absolutely hilarious to me on the lightweight chassis

Service with this question and they say a little side to side play and NO up/down play is acceptable by their QC standards. What do you think?

I have a set of RGT scales for my Smock. He makes good stuff. Unlike Flytanium who I had to send back some PM2 scales because one didnt even fit in the liner.

I’ve been wanting to get a para 3 but don’t know what steel to get, my plan was to have the knife as more of a work knife/edc so what would you recommend (I don’t have a budget)
If cost isnt an issue i'd suggest the maxamet, ive been bringing my sage 1 in the same steel to my hob at a plastics shop with dust and damp and general shop yuck off and on since April. Literally wipe off the blade and stay on top of mantainence and you'll be peachy.
I got the DLT M390 exclusive and I love it but that may not be available for a while as the last run of it (which is when i got it) was fairly recent.... but if another run happens soon, you can’t go wrong with M390 Kinda funny that’s what’s in my pocket today.... also once you do snag one do yourself a favor and put a lynch clip on it 😉

You shouldn’t need a new back spacer. Almost all custom pieces are designed to fit like the originals. However the flytanium ti backspacer is quite the handsome addition for only $20. Have one on mine and love how it looks. Sorry don’t know much about Micarta scales for it tho sorry
I hated my spyderco para 3 at first. I paid so much for it, i made myself carry it in rotation and began to love it. Now If i lost it i'd buy another, it's my edc.
I love the stuff from RGT, Lynch, Rockscale Design. People love the flytanium stuff, personally I’m not going to take a gorgeous US made knife and put a bunch of Chinese made after market accessories on it, doesn’t make much sense lol.

Sharp Dressed Knives offers a special tool that makes popping out the lanyard tube very easy. Definitely recommended!

I agree 100%, for the knives you can get for $160 today this is exactly what it should be.
The best part about the para 3 and pm2 is their level of customization. There isnt a factory piece aside from the blade and pivot on mine

Once I have the barrel out, I never put it back in, but use a Flytanium holestopper. Adds a little weight, but much easier to put back in and out.

Maxamets my favorite. S45vn is the new standard steel and thats great too. The PM2 is a little better imo

too bad the PM2 has the steel liner that follows the shape of the scale or I'd go skinny on that in a heartbeat. Need to pick up a para3 to play with.
I have a Para 3 SPY 27 that needs scales like this too, but I can't find anyone who makes them for lightweight scales. Does anyone know of any?
